Yes, it will be interesting to see how many long time Princess customers return.

It does change things for us as having free internet was a big reason on becoming a Platinum and then Elite. Our last cruise prior to Covid was on Celebrity and we felt that the food was better and the cabin was much nicer, even over the newest Princess ships. It now broadens our choices whereas in the past, it was Princess without any questions asked.

  2. Our last cruise was on Celebrity and really liked the food and cabins more (even more than Princess's newest ships). We kept on remarking how we wished we didn't have to pay for internet if we booked on Princess. With these changes to the loyalty program, it wouldn't hurt us to cruise on Celebrity more often.

I am very experienced with the floatplane with crab feast and the actual eating doesn't start until after 11:00 AM.  Here is a link to my photo review of the excursion:

Skip the free appetizers lest you not be able to take advantage of every possible serving of crab legs.  FWIW very few diners have the capacity to enjoy the large piece of NY cheesecake for dessert.  I would also skip breakfast that day.

The Dungeness in your pics look huge compared to the ones I see in the tanks at the market. Is the only way to the feast is via the air tour?

  4. What type of cabin did you book and how far out did you book it, did you pay full price or a discounted price?

I don't remember what type but it was mid-ship and if IIRC, it was on the 10th deck at a discounted price. This upcoming trip we booked a GTY this past July (cabin not yet assigned) at a discounted price.

  5. I personally think Princess should just do away with these formal nights and go business casual each evening in the MDR since it's a pain and a chore to pack formal attire. Why bother with a cruise tradition when diners are no longer willing to dress up. Your thoughts and observations?

I'm all for that. We stopped going to formal nights a long while ago. Such a PITA. We just go to the buffet on FN since I would feel awkward not dressing appropriately and inserting myself in the DRs.

  6. While I know your on vacation, but if you leave your do not disturb sign up all day please take 10 seconds to let them know they do not need to service your room that day so they can work 10 hours instead of 15. That in and of itself is like leaving an extra tip for them.

    Good to know.

  7. We always do and if they find it insulting, they sure hide it well. But then again, we're not demanding. I do ask for a top sheet and sometimes extra chocolate. If wife needs more lotion, I just leave a note. On disembarkation day, I ask if I may stay a little past 8:30 and they are very accommodating. Just don't act like a jerk (I actually had a different term) throughout the cruise because you pre-tipped.

  8. Wow no charge for the lobster. I must have hit the wrong ship. Last time on Golden was charge a second entrée for the lobster. Thought it odd as had done this before with no issue. Maybe should have asked it wasn't even good lobster :(. Will try again on Regal in the fall.

    Thanks

    Never heard that one before.

  9. Although only the CAD is legal tender in Canada, as a courtesy to our American cousins most shops, restaurants and taxis in cities where a lot of tourists visit will accept USD

At the Chinese restaurants in Richmond, BC, they will exchange it at a 1:1 rate. Even when the dollar was .95:1 AFAIR. We just opened a TD account on the US side and opened a separate TD account in Canada and TD allows you to move money without add'l charge other than 5% exchange spread. HSBC charged you for moving money and the spread. So far, TD was the cheapest option to take advantage of the current exchange rate.

  10. Prego pizza is the Lido deck "by the slice" pizza. Nothing like Alfredo's but still pretty good. IMHO, nothing beats Alfredo's but I enjoy the Lido deck pizza too.

I love the pizza from Lido deck. I think it's one of the best around.
