VERY frustrating as we are book on the NordNorge 17 October.
Hurtigruten won't refund until 14 days out.
And we have until 14 days out to rebook for next year.
Would prefer to get the refund and rebook when we know we can go, but the timing is just too close for comfort. Have contacted them several times.
Will probably wait until end of September and rebook to 2022.
Darn!

As a starting point, Norway follows EU guidelines - but it is my hope and expectation that travel will be possible by October. An excellent time to see the Northern Lights.
- just be prepared for som cold days at the sea. Bring warm clothes.
Very few participating in Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage roll-calls.
Thanks for the reassurance.
I think the cruise out of Copenhagen was cancelled because of concerns over Russia -- St. Petersburg was a stop. My friends in Copenhagen who are in their 20s are scheduled for their vaccines in September. And I have a friend in Stavanger who said vaccines are available for anyone over 18. So I am cautiously optimistic.
I'm not surprised that there's not a lot of roll call interest on Hurtigruten -- it's not that kind of crowd. 🙂 But I wanted to try.
I miss travelling so very much!

We booked the RT from Bergen to Kirkenes sailing October 17. Desperately hoping it sails with us. I started a Roll Call if anyone wants to join. It's in "Other Ocean Cruise Lines."
We were also on an NCL cruise RT out of Copenhagen Oct. 1-10, but that was cancelled two days ago. Just when I breathed a cautious sigh of relief that the EU announced vaccinated Americans could enter this summer.
Yes, I know Norway isn't in the EU, so that why the sigh was cautious. 🙂

Everyone who did this cruise on the Sun last year was smart. Apparently the Star is having problems. Again. Stuck in the Falklands an extra day and Puerto Madryn cancelled. Headed to Montevideo at 13 knots! Yikes.

Thanks to everyone so far.
MugTech is correct: We are on the Star. I was thinking Sun because that's the sister ship that did the itinerary last year.
Thank you for the warning, BudgetQueen. We are well travelled and have lived for extended periods in Central America and the Middle East. We will be careful.
I really don't want to carry a winter coat, so turtlenecks, t-shirts, sweatshirts, windbreakers will be making the trip. Can you spell L-A-Y-E-R-S? 🙂

Two weeks from today we will be in Miami awaiting our flight to Santiago. We are sailing from San Antonio on January 18 to Buenos Aires on the NCL Sun, and I have questions for folks who have taken this cruise recently. Thanks in advance.
How did you pack for four season? Layers, I'm assuming. How was the temperature on board?
How was the ship's library? I just loaded up my Kindle with eight new books, but that will last me eight to ten days -- not counting the flight and down time the time we'll be in Chile before disembarkation. I'd like to know if I should load more books on my Kindle. 🙂
Any other information about the ports, the ship, etc., is appreciated. Apparently, this is the first season the Star is doing the South American itinerary.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Thanks for the information. We are on HAL Zaandam out of San Antonio on January 9. Did you use an AA credit card to book and get all of the miles?
Of course! 🙂 I think we got 40,000 miles for booking then another 10,000. We were able to fly first class to our Alaska cruise last year. Just love me some free miles!
Best wishes for a wonderful cruise! We're on NCL Star, leaving 1/18.

This company is also linked to by American Airlines. We booked our cruise with AA for the tens of thousands of extra miles we got, and we're flying to and from South America for $40! (taxes and fees only)
We did book Puerto Chacabuco and Puerto Madryn with them.
We booked Ushuaia with a small local tour company that came highly recommended by a former cruiser last year. If you're on the NCL Star out of San Antonio Jan 18, 2020, and are interested, let me know. I'm posting info on that roll call, too.

Car rental seems to be much cheaper and gives you more control. Public transit is an hour and a half each way while driving is about half that -- if you're good at navigating. I found car rentals at the port for under $30 for the day.
What to do in Dublin?

Hi, Darcy,
What time of year and day did you have crowd issues at Guinness? We will be there Wednesday, September 28, and I was hoping to go with my Guiness-loving hubby. Thanks!
