  1. Thanks! It's so nice to hear from people who have firsthand experience. Right now it's a shock for them and they are adjusting...but instead of focusing on what he can't have (Pina Coladas were his favorite), I'm eager to tell him that there are LOTS of diabetics who go on cruises and are able to enjoy themselves! If anyone has any more tips, please share! And thanks again [emoji4]

One of the very first things that my son's Endocrinologist said to me when my son was diagnosed with T1 at 5 was that he could eat or drink whatever he wanted--we just had to count the carbs and make sure that we cover them. He's 14 now so we obviously haven't had to deal with the alcohol issue but I wouldn't think that there is anything that he cannot have at all. I would think that moderation is key though and to count the carbs and learn how your body reacts to the alcohol. I do not plan on telling my son that he cannot drink anything fruity or with alcohol but to go slow, pay attention to his body and make sure and cover the carbs. We started the journey carrying around a copy of Calorie King everywhere--now we don't even need it.

  2. I got mine through Verizon (must be a customer) and Allstate (don't have to be a customer). Verizon was pretty tough to get as they sell out quick. Allstate seemed to have inventory every time I checked. Google Allstate Rewards program and you should be able to find out info about it.

Yes! This! I am NOT an Allstate customer but it still works. Go download the Allstate Drivewise App and create a free account. It keeps track of your safe driving and awards you points. I just installed the app yesterday and have earned 14,000 points already with minimal driving. For 1,000 points you can purchase a $100 Carnival GC for $90. You can purchase up to 5 per day. I rec'd the ecards almost immediately in my email. This is pretty cool because they have tons of GCs for all kinds of stores, hotels, restaurants, etc...

  3. On my family's first cruise on the Triumph in 2014--we rec'd a phonecall in our room right after boarding. They offered a private muster drill for our family because our son is autistic. It was awesome--and then during the actual muster drill we just stayed in our room. When we went on our second cruise--also on the Triumph--the following year...we asked to repeat this and they didn't seem to know what we were talking about. We are getting ready to cruise on the Breeze in May and my son is already starting to stress about the drill. Has anybody else ever rec'd a private drill or know who to contact to set it up possibly?
