I am on the same cruise and did get the same message from Air Canada.   I did book on my own but if you have the Air Canada reference number and call them they will move you to January 28th.

This is exactly the right action to take.  Better to be proactive than sorry.  I wouldn't wait for NCL to fix the problem.

  2. I agree with the previous poster that NCL doesn't book one cruise for a B2B.  We deal with the same NCL rep & he worked with us to get us in the same cabin.  But it was still two separate cruises.  If you can keep the same room it will avoid having to pack everything up between cruises.

But however it ends up....happy sailing!

  3. Personally I would stay with Allianz.  We have had 2 incidences on two different cruises over the years that required medical care on board the ship (one that occurred before we boarded actually).  And $340 would have just put a very small dent in the bills.  We submitted the receipts and forms when we returned home & were refunded promptly.  They have a good reputation....

  4. You are on my cruise!!  Well in actual fact the cruise we had intended to be on.  Given the world situation and travel restrictions in Canada at the time we made the decision to rebook this cruise (and the next one from Copenhagen thru to Baltics) until 2023.  Both these cruises have now been cancelled:-(

But I am still enjoying your review!  You seem like someone that a lot of us 'seasoned' cruisers would love to meet. Keep posting from your perspective...it's both refreshing and informative.

Sorry for the duplicate posting.  I did look before I put this out there & didn't see this.

Maybe the Mods could delete mine?

I had to cancel my cruise. I was devastated to do it but I already have to quarantine for work and if I got covid, I would not be able to afford that much time off work. I lost pretty much everything. As a Canadian, our government is telling us not to travel. It really sucks, but I didn't feel that I had a choice.

Did you have insurance?  Since our government has issued a level 3 travel advisory you might be able to claim.  There was also a thread on here where a Canadian had cancelled after final payment & filed a claim with NCL and got FCC's.  It would be worth a try.

  7. Sadly I am going to cancel our upcoming cruise.  Goodbye bucket list trip (for now!).  Final payment is January 8th.  It was back to back Northern Europe & the Baltics (21 days) and since a lot of those countries are changing their rules daily it doesn't make any sense to tie up a large amount of money when the future is so uncertain.

I wish good luck and happy cruising to all who are brave enough to go ahead!

    Stay safe everyone...

  8. I spoke to our NCL cruise consultant yesterday & voiced our concerns.  As I said in a previous post our cruise was back to back Northern Europe & Baltic in May.  He said he is hoping that NCL will include May cruises in the 60 day final payment plan.  If not, we will cancel.  Too much money to tie up for that length of time with so much uncertainty right now.

From reading these boards, many people have had enjoyable and uneventful cruises in these challenging times, and odds are good that you will, too.

But since you asked . . . .I have concerns about my own May cruise, for which final payment is due in January.   The cruise is in Europe, and I booked as a solo, so it's a lot of money to me - more than I want to tie up in these uncertain times under the current cancelation policies.   I always buy travel insurance, but that won't kick in if I change my mind due to conditions I would find unacceptable at the time of sailing - maybe new covid variants, maybe changed protocols in the port countries or onboard, maybe a changed itinerary.  Sadly, I have decided to cancel before final payment.

I have made alternative plans for a land vacation in one of the cities that would have been a port stop.  I have a hotel reservation for which I don't have to pay until the time of the stay.

Best wishes for a great cruise, assuming you go ahead and make that final payment.

I am feeling the same way about our Northern Europe and Baltics May cruise.  Many of the countries that we were looking forward to visiting are closing their borders due to the new variant.  As much as I realize that this may not be the case in May I do not want to take that chance & make final payment in January.  I am going to contact our cruise consultant to see if NCL will move the payment schedule closer to our sailing date so we will have more time to decide.  Failing that I am prepared (with heavy heart) to cancel.

  10. What vaccines will be accepted?

For ships embarking or disembarking at US ports, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized single brand vaccination protocol will be accepted. Including, J&J Janssen, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford. Mixed vaccination protocol will not be accepted (i.e. Pfizer + Moderna or AstraZeneca + Pfizer, etc).

All Other Vessels departing from a non US port will accept any U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized single brand vaccination protocol. Or a mixed vaccination protocol of only AstraZeneca-SK Bio, Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna combinations.

Vaccines received via clinical trials will not be accepted as they do not specify vaccine received.

Cruises with embarkation dates through October 31, 2021:
All guests sailing aboard cruises with embarkation dates through October 31, 2021, are required to be fully vaccinated, at least 2 weeks prior to departure, in order to board. Vaccines combined with multi-layered and robust preventative health and safety measures, including universal COVID-19 testing prior to embarkation, will help us provide a uniquely safe and healthy vacation environment that we believe exceeds all other vacation choices on land and at sea. Each guest must present proof they have completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered at least 2 weeks prior to their sail date. Guests who are not old enough to be vaccinated will not be allowed on these sailings.

Cruises with embarkation dates beginning November 1, 2021: Given the ever-evolving nature of the pandemic, the accelerating rollout of the vaccine, and the speed of scientific learnings, it is premature to make decisions on our health and safety protocols for cruises with embarkation dates beginning November 1, 2021. We will continue to evaluate our health and safety protocols and rely on science and our expert council as we make decisions and evolve our policies and procedures.
