  1. As the thread title says, I REALLY HATE sitting in the sun for a long period of time! Most people talk about having trouble finding a deck chair to sit in during sea days, and I'll be on the Triumph in April. I'm not really interested in sitting NEAR the pool, and am happy to sit far from it if I can find a shady spot. Tell me, those of you who know, will I have trouble finding a deck chair in the SHADE? Couldn't care less about sunning/tanning! I like sunny days when I'm walking in the sun, or swimming in the sun, but I hate just sitting in the sun (I usually fall asleep when I lounge and therefore burn like bacon on a skillet). Thanks in advance!

    :cool::cool:

  2. Thanks so much for this review! I'll be going on it with my hubby in April doing the same itinerary. I'm sooooooo ready. #tiredofwinter

It's good to see that we'll have a great time; this will be my hubby's first cruise and it took YEARS for me to get him on one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll have a good time, because I've talked cruising up so much and don't feel like eating crow if it's a bust. You mention that you had a hard time finding a deck chair during the sea days....that is a bit worrisome. I don't necessarily have to be in the sun during the sea days, but do want to find a place to sit and enjoy the ocean float by. Did you find that to be difficult?

  3. Great review! Sounds like you guys had a really great experience! My hubby and I are going to be sailing the Triumph next month, and I'm super excited to experience our first cruise. I appreciate hearing that it's not as terrible as all the bashing on her is trying to make it be. Sorry I couldn't see the pix, though. Photobucket is really tripping for some reason or another. :(

  4. Wow, I'm really thankful to find this thread; I've been trying to get some comparisons about the two places for awhile now. I've thrown my hat with Nachi Cocom because me and my hubby are much more a quiet, relaxed couple than a jump up and be busy couple while on vacation!! We're constantly jumping up and being busy at home, so the last thing I want to do is more of the same in Cozumel. Thanks everyone! I'll have to come back after our cruise and give some feedback about Nachi. It may be helpful.

  5. After my first cruise on the Dream last year, I came off the ship so enthusiastic I signed up immediately for the Triumph in February. 2 weeks and counting. The first thing I read about my Dream cruise was a review about how horrible it was. Shock. What? The Triumph is going to have to be gosh awful bad to be as bad as the Dream was Good.

I have considered the bad reviews and read many of them and I have also read the good ones. I figure each ship has its own character and crew and staff. That I'll find similar food and differences. That my room will not be the same. That the ports will differ. That the steward will, however, still be so nice it will stun me. Because I'm not going on this cruise to look for flaws --- I'm going on this cruise to get away from my routine regular life which involves lots of email, meetings, schedules, planning -- no stewards or Guys or Blue Iguanas.

I checked and the Triumph has Guys, Blue Iguanas, and people who make the beds up and bring room service. Not to mention Mexico and sunshine in February. Sail on.

*Stands up and gives a slow clap*

  6. Wow. Just...wow. Can I just say y'all rock???

This thread is so very helpful and it's great to know that there are several sisters here who have the same sort of issues with hair as me! I sometimes forget that we are on Cruise Critic (no offense meant!), and it's good to see us here in numbers.

I've been natural since 2000 and have bra-length 4b/4c hair. I also have two daughters with the same kind of hair, same length. We usually do 2-strand twists or flat twist/twist outs, and since we'll be going on a cruise soon, I've been thinking about some solutions about how we can make this an easier experience. I'm guessing I'll make sure the girls have 2-strand twists (they love to swim), but I'd like to find a crochet that I can use that will be fully submersible!!! I'm a swimmer, and refuse to avoid getting my hair wet. I read through the posts (yes! all 17 pages!), and didn't really get a clear answer about whether you can fully submerge crochet hair. Did I miss the answer? Forgive me if I did, but can someone please let me know if you can, and what kind of hair I'd need to get? Thanks!

  7. I have a quick question!

My hubby and I are going along on the Anthem next year with our three kiddos, and we have two cabins booked. Can you tell me if we need to get the Ultimate Dining Package for all members of our family? Or can we just use it for ourselves? If we get it for the kids, do you happen to know what the price might be for kids? Our kids are 11, 13 and 15. Thanks!

  8. I am looking to see if anyone would have any pix of these two cabins on the Anthem. Just booked them and want to know if they will have adequate space. We are a family of five and I had to book two cabins, but couldn't get any connecting cabins! These two cabins were close to each other, but they're at the rear of the ship. Want to also know if motion was really bad back here. Thanks in advance!

    :D

  9. It was helpful reading everyone's advice and experiences so I'm here to answer any questions if I can help. I planned it and arranged it all my self without a wedding planner. Wedding and reception were both in Bermuda. Feel free to ask questions.

I'm currently planning a vow renewal in Bermuda and would llloooooove to hear about your experiences!! Can you tell me if you used vendors or what resources you used to organize your event? Using a wedding planner is crazy expensive (cheapest one was $1900!! just for her services, not for the event itself!) and I'm getting kinda discouraged. Please help!

  10. Hello Everyone!

My fiance and I along with about 20 family members and friends are cruising to Bermuda in June 2016 from Baltimore on RCCL for our wedding. At first I was going to use Royal Romance but read many horror stories about them and prefer to be involved in the planning process so I've completely changed my mind.

So far I've looked into Bermuda Brides and two resorts in Bermuda. Does anyone have any feedback on their experience with any wedding planner or resort in Bermuda? We are looking to do a beach ceremony and a cocktail hour afterwards. When we arrive home we are having a larger reception outdoors so a small cake would be nice but we are not interested in having a reception in Bermuda.

Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I'm bumping this because I want to do something like this for a vow renewal next year. How did it go? And does anyone have any advice here? I'd like to know what your experience was like. Thanks!

  11. Wow, would love to hear from someone regarding this issue as well. I've talked with a few wedding planners regarding a vow renewal but it seems really expensive! All I really want is an arbor with flowers and tulle/silk, chairs for 20 people and maybe a photographer. For this, I'm getting fees of nearly $3900!!!:o Is it just me, or is that really crazy??? Getting kinda frustrated. I don't have to finalize anything yet since it wouldn't be until June 2018 (sailing the Anthem to Bermuda), but I'd like to be bringing it to some close soon.

  12. hello ladies!

i'll be sailing on the anthem of the seas with family in june 23, 2018. my husband and i decided to do our planned vow renewal during the cruise in bermuda! it's interesting to hear all your stories and i appreciate all your insight. since it's not a wedding, i don't want it to be too big and obnoxious like my wedding (over 400 people!!!), i want something simple with meaning for around 20-30 folk. i'll be sure to share my experiences with you all so that this may help someone as they prepare for their "2nd" (or more!) special day. :)

  13. Hello to you all! We will be enjoying our first cruise on the IoS this December and we are very excited! I wonder if there is anyone who can tell me what the ship will be like during this month; are there Christmas decorations and can we expect holiday-like events? And the weather! We will be on a 5 night sailing going only to Falmouth and Labadee--will we be okay bringing our suits? Were should we stay before our departure? Can anyone recommend a decent hotel? We are a family of 5 and have no need for fancy--I just want a place that includes breakfast. And what in the world will we do with our car??? Can you recommend any park and cruise locations or hotels with that offering? I know, I know, a lotta questions, a pain in the kiester.....but I surely do appreciate your help! Thanks in advance...
