  1. Did you only use the hub app or did you purchase a Wi-Fi plan also?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I only used the Hub app. On Friday there was an issue with my daughter's phone (it got unintentionally wet) and started acting wonky. She thought her phone got hacked, it would let us unlock it, could only enter two numbers of her passcode, so I purchased 24 hours of wifi so I could research what was going on. But the three of us used the Hub app to communicate.

  2. We had an emergency happen with my daughter's phone that I needed Internet to research (she thought she was hacked). I bought 24 hours of use for $16.....only because of the emergency. We still have an issue with her phone, but it finally started working and let her login/unlock.

It was also important to me because we'd let her at certain times go places by herself and I wanted her phone working because we used the chat feature in the Hub app to communicate.

  3. We just got off our cruise and utilized it thus past week. We really liked it. There were times a text did not deliver on time, but for the week it worked well 95% of the time.

We utilized the app all the time checking the dining room menus for each night (even days ahead) and to see what events were occuring when. I felt bad because we never looked at the fun times delivered to our room because activities were on the app and I could "favorite" them to know what was coming up. The app would also give me notifications on my main phone screen letting me know when an event was about to start.

  4. Do you get your garage pass via email the day you pay for it online or do the send it the day before it day of your cruise?

Just ordered it and paid online thru the port website, but no email has been received.

  5. Did some organization today for our July cruise. We are famous for visiting Urgent Care whenever we visit Disney Workd so I don't go anywhere without a "first aid kit" so to speak.

    What I've packed so far:

    Eye drops

    Nasal spray

    Advil

    Children's Tylenol

    Pepto

    Tums

    Claritin

    Band Aids of various sizes

    Benedryl

    Neisporin

    Anti itch cream

    Aloe

    Seasickness meds

I plan on adding some Mucinex and the sea bands.

There may be more, but this seems about right.

  6. no, sharing a meal, was not talking to you but Micah's Dad, who knows you can not share.

    Oh okay. :D

Yeah, the portions are small enough, so sharing with her would be an issue. Although, on land we do often share adult meals since portion sizes are ample and it saves us $.

But she's very excited to be able to have 2 entrees in the MDR.

  7. seriously?

Seriously to what....towards my original question.

Someone above informed me that if my daughter ordered off the adult menu it was $35 or whatever the adult charge is. Yes, I wondered about that because all I see for kids is the $10 charge. I asked, and understand that if she were to order off the adult menu we would be charged that. Sorry that my child is a foodie, will try anything (her fave veggies are asparagus and cauliflower) and a great eater. She does not do your typical kids menu items like hot dogs, Mac n cheese, chicken tenders, hamburgers, etc......even now she orders adult meals for the variety they provide. She's also 10 in the gifted program last night and understood the answers I gave to her that I received. She's okay with sticking to the kids menu if she has to (hubs and I are still deciding on booking the Steakhouse), but admits something on the adult menu may tempt her (again, great eater and adventurous foodie).

  8. Reviews of the steakhouse have piqued my interest and I was thinking about trying for reservations on our upcoming cruise.

I have one question though. I see it's $10 for kids and I know the kids menu has a filet on it. My daughter is a great eater, will try anything, but I was wondering if the junior filet doesn't peak her interest that night, can she order off the adult menu?

  9. When we went on our first cruise in 2013, my youngest was 6 years old. We put a note on the door saying she was on her first cruise and wanted to see where everyone was from. I'm glad I brought extra paper because she ended up getting 2 full sheets of 12x12 inch scrapbook paper FILLED with sweet little messages to her written by people from all over the world. It is a treasured keepsake for her now. It also helped her pick out her door from the endless line of cabin doors that look exactly the same!

    Awww, I love this.

  10. I am planning g in decorating our door. It's our first cruise, first family vacation in 6 years, and we are sailing the week of my daughter's birthday so we are going to have some fun. I have a mermaid theme planned, so there will be something mermaid-y on our door. Recently I found mermaid magnets in the Target $ spot.

    July can't come soon enough!

  11. Put everything in and take half out as you won't use it. 1 pair of short for two tops and same for capris-if you are platinum on CCL you also get free laundry so less to pack (for the guys)

Platinum....I wish. It's our first cruise. Now maybe if they let me have my in-laws account. They have to be up at that level by now (they go on cruises a lot)

  12. Going on the same cruise in less than 19 days! What excursions are you doing? Our big one is going to see Altun Ha in Belize.

We are doing a dolphin swim in Cozumel (daughter's birthday present). In Grand Cayman we are doing stingrays.

For Roatan I found a couple who runs a paddleboarding business. I am still debating. Otherwise we may just take it easy and do the beach.

  13. Our cruise is in July. Carnival Miracle to Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay, and Grand Cayman.

However, as of yesterday I booked our big excursion (daughter's birthday surprise), have our other excursions booked (ha ha we are only doing 2), ordered our bottled water and a cake for DDs birthday (it's occurring when we are on the ship). All my documentation has been updated accordingly, and now I'm getting excited to go!

Now all I have to worry about is packing.

  14. I agree -- when everything is complete, you should just get an email saying you're checked in and all is good to go. It could all be done electronically and there would be no need for reams of paper that just gets trashed. And they have it all anyway: somehow we got to the port last fall without boarding passes (we had our other papers). They just looked up our names and booking numbers and instantly printed out new boarding passes and let us in the terminal with those.

    Thanks all. Everything is complete.

I went to the library today to print, but because I need to add on one excursion (daughter's birthday surprise), I decided to wait and just have everything be done. Also ordered 2 packs of water and a cake for the night of DD's birthday.

Now to sit back, countdown, wait, and just worry about packing.....and how much $$ to bring along.

  15. Good to know! Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a one time link.

I did recently add on info that I was diabetic and I got an email that night that was all scrambled. Later research found it may be a health form or something.

Mainly, right now, I just want to go in and see all the documents, but as stated before I wasn't sure if it was a one time link or not.

  16. So my husband drinks a lot of soda. Okay, not a lot, I've never counted but Coke, Powerade, and water are his drinks. Our daughter drinks soda sparingly, and I rarely drink it (except with pizza).

So my plan has been all along for us to carry on our allowed one 12 pack of cans per person (and yes, I know the hubs will not drink 36 cans in a 7 day timeframe, but......)

However, not yet knowing what our carry ons and luggage situation looks like (cruise is in July), and being that cans are heavy, should I just suck up the cost, save the headache of yet more carry ons, and just pay for a soda package (~$100) for the hubs and daughter? For me, if I wanted a soda (rare), I'll pay the $3/$4 on board for it.

  17. For sure! I always hit the Dollar Tree store before a cruise, and buy each of the kids several of the $1 boxes of candy. Then, I put them in a gift bag and set them on their beds, and let them know they need to make it last the whole week. I just can't fathom spending $$$ at Cherry on Top for that candy by the pound. We've done it, but no more!

Making a note....I'll need to do this for the hubster.:p

  18. . By the way you mentioned dance competitions. My daught was in dance for 20 years. That is why there was 20 years between our first cruise and second cruise.

My daughter is 10. I gave a feeling we still have a looooong way to go with dance, and if it weren't for an inheritance my husband received, dance comps would be my only get-a-ways. :')

  19. We just got back from a cruise and took lots of snacks on and many off that we didn’t eat. We even took some off at the ports. We had packages of beef jerky, peanuts, trail mix, candy, you name it. No problems at all. We didn’t need to buy any snacks at either airports or at ports.

My daughter dances and we've gone to three competitions/conventions (Jan, Feb, and March) and I still gave snacks that I bought in Jan.

I know not to take them off ship in ports, my husband just wants things to have in our room on the ship or when we are lounging by the pool.
