Any way to find out what the movies are for Sept? We will be on the Sunshine and I would love to see Beauty and the Beast or Rogue One again!
-
we are cruising in september also. What date is your cruise?
9/2

Thanks all for the reassurances. Little nervous about checking in at the NYC cruise port.
-
I was offered an upgrade from a balcony on deck 9 to an Ocean Suite balcony on Deck 7 for $314 for a 7 night cruise. I took it. Hope I did the right thing. We are doing a NE/Canada cruise. I am most looking forward to the priority check-in since my mother is 70 YO. We sail in September. First Carnival cruise and I was quite surprised to get the call

We are leaving on the 2nd on the Sunshine. Planning to fly in on Thursday night and use a car service to get to the hotel in Times Square. I was hoping to use LaGuardia but guess I may need to rethink that plan! Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if Carnival typically has excursions in NYC after the cruise? I am trying to figure out the best way from the Sunshine to the airport at the end of our cruise. This is the first time cruising from NYC. When we did this cruise with Norwegian and it ended in Quebec City we took a tour from the ship to the airport and that would be so convenient in NYC. None are showing yet so I am wondering if they don't do the same. Thanks!

Thank you all. We will be early so shouldn't have to wait.

We are going to do this cruise the same week next year. Can you tell me if there were many children on board? We did a similar trip last year on Norwegian Dawn and only saw 3 kids and 1 teenager. Everyone else appeared to be over 40. (which was fine with us) My mother and I are both over 40! And she and I will be doing the cruise. Your review is great. Love the pix. This will be the first time we actually tour in Boston and first visit to St. John.

Thanks so much! We are doing the NE/Canada and Carnival is quite a lot less than Norwegian and I am not "attached" to Norwegian so probably moving over to Carnival.
-
I have only cruised once on Norwegian. I want to know if we can do anytime dining on Carnival. Also can we bring on board soft drinks?
-
We are looking at doing that same trip next year. Could you tell me if you sailed past the Statue of Liberty? Also if there were fridges in the cabins? Thanks so much

Dingo Dave is the cruise director. And he finds himself VERY entertaining. I don't recall an illusionist. But I don't like magicians and illusionists so I wouldn't have paid attention to the names. I hate that I can't figure that kind of thing out! LOL

Also - I have spent a lot of time at live shows at the Fox in ATL and other places on land so I have pretty high expectations! LOL

We waited one time for about 10 minutes for a table at the Venetian. The hostess gave us a voucher for champagne while we waited but we didn't bother to go get it. The buffet rarely had a line but always seemed to be crowded with people just sitting around taking up tables while we were there. People seemed to be "lingering" at the table. Which is fine unless people need to sit down and eat. This was usually during breakfast.

Our port times did change about 3 weeks out.
We lost an hour going into Halifax and got it back after leaving Charlottetown. I totally screwed up due to the daily saying set your clock back tonight when it really meant the next night. I overheard other people who had done the same thing so I didn't feel completely stupid.

We just visited Portland for a short stop also. There was plenty to do within walking distance of the ship. We really didn't have time to get out and about. Loved what we saw of Portland and plan to go back.

Just returned from this cruise. My mother and I had a balcony room on the 9th floor. No issues with plumbing! The only problem with the room was the door to the balcony was difficult to open. Having never cruised before, I thought this was normal until the last day when we visited our friends' room and I walked out on their balcony and found theirs slid quite easily! Wish I had known. I was disappointed in our cabin steward. 4 out of 7 nights I had to track him down to get the dailies and ice. We were in our room around 8:00 each night but I still would have thought that was enough time to get those delivered. A couple of days it was after 2 before our room even had new towels delivered. Our friends who had cruised multiple times on NCL said they had never seen anything like the service we received. i could have spoken with guest services about it but I kept thinking each day it would get better. It didn't. The food we had was delicious. We either ate in Aqua, the Venetian or had the buffet for all meals. We went to the Band on the Run show. Kind of cheesy and not great singers. We also went to the balancing act show. It was ok. I have been to Cirque de Soliel shows so I think anything else just pales in comparison. Ports of call - Portland Maine- wonderful, wish we had had longer there but had to be back on ship by 2:00! Halifax was very nice and had plenty of time in port. Charlottetown was fabulous and would have loved to stay there longer. Gaspe'- still not really sure why we even stopped. I overheard this comment several times. Saguenay area- pretty neat area. Wish I had planned to rent a car - we did the hop on hop off bus but there really wasn't much within walking distance of the bus stops. Quebec City - beautiful. We did a ship's excursion tour that took us through the city and then dropped us at airport. Overall - lovely cruise!

We are going to be on deck 9 this Friday headed to Quebec City. Thanks for posting no toilet issues which is waaayyy more important than who the officers are! I have never understood that question. We have a balcony also so sounds like we are going to be just fine!
How was your food? (Also more important than who the officers are!)

Thanks so much. We are using the GoBoston service with a private van since there are 4 of us and they plan around the time your flight arrives. I didn't want to have to change all that and wait around in the airport. Would much rather wait in the cruise terminal.
-
Our flight is supposed to be in BOS around 10 - if all goes well that should put us at the cruise terminal by 11. Will there be somewhere there that we can wait or will we be standing out by the pier? As someone told me I would be stuck doing??? Just didn't seem correct. Thanks!

We have one day at sea on our cruise (that starts on Sep 11). I'm wondering if there will be any chance at all that we will want to sit by the pool. Does anyone have any advice? Take swimsuit? Leave it at home? We are flying so all room in luggage is at a premium!
-
Thanks so much! I believe my mother will be having a chocolate croissant every day! Perfect for us
-
Does anyone have a recent room service breakfast menu they could post? We are not big breakfast people - so I'm thinking the continental breakfast will be just fine for me and my mother on days when we have excursions and need to get off the boat quickly.

Thanks so much for the review. We are doing 7 night in Sept. Can you tell me the best place to watch for the Statue of Liberty as we sail away. We have a port balcony. Thanks
