Some people have no control when it comes to drinking 🥃. I seen this guy in the pool on the Royal Princess and BTW your not supposed to drink in the pool. He was having one drink after another. He needed help getting out of the pool.
His wife or girlfriend was getting him the drinks 🥃

Why can't you drink at the pool as long as you are at the side, no-one ever stopped me.

  2. Can't speak to his logic but I expect the food on a cruise to be pretty darn good. Not expecting Peter Luger good but in the MDR I expect at least as good as a main stream chain restaurant (olive garden, outback etc). My expectation is the buffet food will be as good as any decent casino buffet. Again, I'm not expecting Caesars Palace or MGM Grand levels but I don't expect to see Golden Corral either. As much as we are paying I expect the food to be on par with most good land based restaurants. I've been pretty happy with most of the food on my Celebrity cruises but there's room to improve. The Mast grill on the Eclipse last Nov was pretty bad. If I were the F&B manager I would be embarrassed by that food, the pizza was also horrid. I'm no master chef but really, how hard is it to make a decent pizza or a burger?

Oh dear, I feel my expectations are too high as I expect the MDR standard to be well above Olive Garden and Outback... HELP!!

  3. LOL, silly me. I thought I would come here to read positive reviews... haha.

I first sailed Celebrity 12 years ago. I have sailed on M and S class ships. I was on Eclipse 18 months ago, Reflection 9 months ago (and will be on Eclipse the next time it gets to Miami!).

I have always been very happy that I am getting a luxury holiday at a good price.

If I did not feel that I would choose another line and not frequent the Celebrity boards anymore.

I understand why people give constructive criticism (we all need 'balanced' feedback), I don't get it when people come here to whinge and tell the world they would not sail with Celebrity again!!

    Cheers

  4. Is it more or less subtle than my "If you like the cabin and the price book it" comment that I made previously?

See, in my opinion that's more relevant. ;) :)

Also, in my opinion concierge class, aqua class and suite class all have a degree of marketing BS surrounding them when it comes to Celebrity. It's just that the benefits are far more obvious and tangible when it comes to aqua or a suite.

The guy pointing out the rather tacky gold colored sea pass card highlights the point some make about CC being touted as something special when it just isn't. I'm sure those with light blue and silver sea pass cards will smile knowingly when they next see someone waving a gold card around in a 'look at me fashion'... ;) :D

I don't see how the benefits of Aqua are more obvious or tangible than CC. It depends on what you seek. For example, if you want a lovely aft cabin then Aqua has no benefit whatsoever. If like a lot of people you don't like Blu then Aqua has very little benefit.

As for pointing out the comments made by another about the gold card. That is just plain rude. And your comments about those with light blue or silver cards is just ridiculous.

Yes, we all have an opinion, but let's respect the fact that everyone has one.

  5. Sorry, but what you in your fridge to the left of you is considered the mini-bar. If something is used from it, in all likelihood it will show up on a charge on a guests account. If you have taken items from there and not been charged, then you are lucky and the butler did you a favor.

Sky Suites and Celebrity Suites both have fully stocked mini-bars, but they certainly aren't free.

Again, the only suites that are entitled to free mini-bars are Royal Suites and Penthouse suites.

I don't make errors, you've just been lucky not to be charged.

Now that is funny, even when proved wrong some people just can never be wrong!

    LOL

  6. I have found good deals on concierge and aqua

on celebrity solstice that are guarantee only

does that mean i only get the rooms that are not popular and no one wants

which one is the best value aqua or concierge:)

    many thanks

Having done both I would say it depends what is important for you. When we went AQ we didn't like Blu and ended up using the MDR so we wished we hadn't spent the extra.

When we went CC we loved the aft cabin which you can't get on AQ.

In both classes, for me all the other perks are not worth a price increase.

So I reckon that if you like dining in Blu then choose AQ and if cabin position at the aft is important then choose CC.

Many people here think CC is just marketing hype. If that is true then it must be true of AQ as well. Personally I feel both are a choice and although I wouldn't pay for AQ again, I understand why people would.

    Cheers

  7. I'm glad for all the concierge naysayers. Let them pay about the same, get less CC points, stay in the same cabins on the lower decks, dine with the masses on embarkation day, and leave the great upper decks, sometimes on the slant, to us foolish, but happy cruisers.

Great way of looking at it. I don't really get all these people that have something against CC, but as you say, that's good news for those that enjoy CC.

I love the post above that states that CC is a slow seller for Celebrity. I wonder why I always have trouble getting the aft cabin then ???

    LOL

  8. If you don't want anything but a single answer to your question, then go to the Celebrity website and review the facts. If your answer can not be found, call customer service.

If you want a stream of consciousness, opinion, and evolving discussion...then post here. That's what an anonymous online forum is about.

    LOL Fishy, ok, whatever

  9. Unfortunately, this is where marketing hype does blur the facts. The cruiselines state things in their brochures/marketing that doesn't resemble anything like how it is onboard. Actual instances and examples of what happens are usually more valuable than the fluffy hype that surrounds the so called facts.

I agree that the original poster's question was asking for a specific time, however, even that can be different on different ships, locations, specific sailings etc., so it's never as straight forward as one would hope it to be ;).

If every question was answered on the first post, then the OP wouldn't obtain a different perspective in order to come to their own conclusions i.e. what's important to them ;). In this thread, for example, they may not have been aware of the concierge boarding lunch etc.

What infuriates me more is the constant stream of answers that are all exactly the same (not referring to this thread) and yet the OP's question (in that particular instance) was answered correctly on the second post (not including those replies where one posts to confirm or agree that was also their experience). Or when threads are started with the same content just because someone can't look after the second page of CC, or they don't do a search first to check. Even when there are similar threads on the first page, some posters still start another asking/stating the same thing. Anyway, just getting off my soapbox :D.

    LOL, yes.. agreed!

  10. Saying CC is mostly marketing hype is adding value to the conversation, that's what this board is for.

    Of course it's not!

You might want to read the original question again.

Even if the response was relevant, "marketing hype" is an opinion, not fact, so there is not much value, especially if someone else states that CC is not marketing hype.

  11. Never made that assumption. Just giving my opinions of the various lines. If you took that as an assumption, the problem lies in your head, not mine. Just love your "I know what that demonstrates in my view" crack.

Could care less if you have cruised more than me. Just making an observation. Face it, you are just taking the heat and taking shots at me because I dared to call your beloved, "upscale experience" on =X= mainstream.

LOL, Love your last sentence, so funny because it is so untrue, but again, you have made incorrect assumptions.

I guess when you do something so much it always becomes the 'normal'.

In some ways I feel fortunate in that I can only cruise a maximum of once a year which in turn means that it will never become my benchmark.

  12. 800 days on cruise ships including 300 on Celebrity. Sailed 9 lines from Carnival to Oceania and everything in between. Sorry, but my experience with the current Celebrity (as opposed to 10 years ago--a totally different experience) is mainstream all the way. As good food as on Princess, HAL, e.g. Specialty restaurants as good (and way cheaper) on NCL. Better itineraries on Princess, worldwide. Like I said, still sail them but don't delude myself as to what I am on. Guarantee if you were magically transported into a Princess or HAL MDR you wouldn't tell the difference from =X=. Except on Formal Night. :)

So you have cruised a lot (perhaps I am more experienced than you?) and made an assumption that I have never been on HAL or Princess. I know what that demonstrates in my view, I wonder why you think it is relevant to make assumptions?

  13. Goodness, you must sail a different Celebrity than we do. Upscale environment? Higher quality? Haven't really seen that on =X= in about 15 cruises ago. Still sail them and have no problem with the current situation but you are deluding yourself if you think you are sailing on an upscale line. Mainstream all the way.

I definitely sail on a different Celebrity to you.

I love the upscale Celebrity product. Just walk onboard and see & feel the WOW factor. If you don't then I am very pleased not to be in your shoes!

I think the food is amazing considering you are on a ship and they are serving many thousands of meals per day. I have never been to a land based holiday where the staff work as hard to please their customers.

I don't necessarily mean they are an upscale cruise line, but they are certainly an upscale holiday experience.

If you consider them mainstream then they must be the best of the mainstream cruise offerings?

Let's face it, is it very subjective and I don't think your comment "you are deluding yourself" is fair.

    Cheers

    Gerry

  14. Were you not aggrieved earlier in the thread about someone not finding your jeans to be acceptable to dinner? Yet you somehow where awarded the foot wear police badge? My, you have climbed the ladder to holier than though quit quickly?

I do surely apologize if my choice of shoes are not to your liking.

Bradley, I am surprised by your response, you obviously feel aggrieved about something????

I did write a longer response to your lies above, but will leave it as I can see you are upset about something and I don't want to add to your woes. It also does nothing to add to the serious posts on this thread.

I wish you well and hope you have a great evening.

  15. As a result of today's border actions, unless you are a US citizen, and you are of one of the seven Muslim countries you are not allowed back in even if you have a green card or visa.

Apparently they reckon no Green card holders have been denied entry!

Trump said that entering the USA is not a 'right", it is a privilege for any non-citizen. Before he got power, I would totally agree it was a privilege, I have been to the US in excess of 50 times over the past few years and feel very privileged to count so many Americans as my friends..

However I am not sure I, and many others, feel the same way about entering the USA anymore whilst he is in power.
