  1. If you fill out the anniversary or birthday thing they'll put balloons around your door. No charge. Maybe a cake at dinner, not sure about that.

Documents will be mailed to your TA 4 to 6 weeks before the cruise.

If you book another cruise while onboard you pay a reduced deposit and get a shipboard credit (amount depends on the length of the cruise you book). You don't have to select a specific cruise, you book on board and have four years to actually select a cruise.

The soda card only applies to drinks from the "gun" (coke, sprite, etc).

    It’s only two years now.

  2. lbfluffy, as the others have said it has been worth it for us as well. First, you must buy 100 shares to qualify for the obc and be able to demonstrate you own it with a stock statement. You could then sell it immediately if you wanted to after receiving the credit, shortly before you cruise.

But we choose to keep the 100 shares as for us the cost of the stock when we bought was a little over 3k and now it is up to $4800 for our 100 shares. We have sailed with Princess 5 times over the last 4 years and have received over $1000 in obc and for our Hawaiian trip in October will get another $250 to use on board.

The stock also pays a dividend each year which adds to your return.

Obviously, the stock does fluctuate so there is risk and the cost today is greater than it was when we bought it. However, if you plan to sail often with Princess, I believe it is a good investment.

. Hi Doug!! Change your cruise to the Ruby Hawaii sailing.. We need to taste some wines with you!! And no cpr this cruise😂
  3. Hello to cjskids!! As for recall her family had a direct impact mp lfrom the fire. Cabin destroyed. Smoke inhaled. A very different experience from mine. we were one of the last families to leave the Star. Our trip has me home was uneventful. Still. We experienced the experience of a real muster call. Experienced then fear of the unknown until we were reunited with our daughters. We watched the emergency preparedness to f the crew from m our vantage point n muster station b

  4. Wow! 10 years has passed since the fire on the star princess. I was also on that cruise with my family. I wrote a first person report as well. If you want you can search use mg my name for it. We have the MAIB report from the event. The conclusion was that it started with a cigarette smoldering in towels on a balcony. The plastic furniture and flooring ignited and fueled by wind spread quickly to other bAlconies. Since this event sprinklers have been added to Val the balconies and the floring and furniture have been changed.

  5. Hello Friends!!! It has been forever since I have been on line. I have only read back a few pages...sounds like things are going well with cruises planned and help offered.

Have a great cruise Cindy....and Roz...hope to repeat our cruise someday. Need to meet Mr Horton.

My husband Rich continues to do very well after his lung transplants. We are both happy and healthy. Bruce or last service dog in training graduated last fall. He is now a seizure response dog and has his very own college student. I love that he has this opportunity to make someone's life more independent.

I don't have another puppy in training yet. Rich and I decided to take a break. And you know what happens when you have an opening in your life...something fills it. We are now fostering a 9 month old golden retriever. She is not a service dog. Her owner is waiting for a double lung transplant and it became to difficult to care for her. So she is living with us for now. She has brought new life back to my Sandy. Those two romp and gnaw on each other for hours at a time. So much fun to watch.

I will keep you posted when our next puppy in service training begins again.

  6. I heard back from a Princess Representative last week. She assured me that they had received my comments and were evaluating the concerns. Especially the lack of AEDs. She had a comment from another guest who noticed that there were none in the gym.

She also told me that she would be in contact with more information as this goes forward.

  7. Thank you to the OP for posting this observation of a medical emergency on board a cruise ship. It certainly opened up quite a discussion.

My first thoughts would be to credit the first responders..in this case passengers. I do have concerns regarding the length of time medical took to arrive. My take away learning point. Pick up the phone and call myself.

As to the response team's time and actions at the site...really sounds poor from the description. Having recently been involved as a bystander in a medical emergency on the Island Princess, I have no real doubts as to the OP's observation.

Should this be posted on this board. Why not? We talk about all other subjects. Being aware of problems might make some of us act differently if we witness a medical emergency.

  8. :eek:This is part review and part cruise sharing of our April 16, 2014 Island Princess Cruise.

My husband and I don't take the term "bucket list" lightly. He is a double lung transplant survivor and this was our first cruise post transplant. We traveled with the lung transplant teams blessing after considering emergency treatment plans and emergency transportation plans. Happily none of those came into play...

We booked the cruise about 8 months prior and planned on taking a wheelchair and potentially oxygen on board. We booked C231 which is a mini suite on the Caribe Deck. We went with the larger cabin to accomadate the wheelchair. We opted out of a handicapped accessible cabin as his motility was not that limited. By the time cruise day came he was no longer using oxygen or the wheelchair and we traveled with only a cane and good spirits.

In good bucket list fashion we used up most of our delta sky miles and traveled first class to Los Angeles. There we caught a cap to San Pedro and the Crown Plaza Hotel. We checked in and instead of a taxi we walked to "On the Vine". A small tasting room and wine boutique. The owner Michael was delightful and after a light and tasty dinner we purchased our two bottles of wine for the cruise.

The next morning we traveled via hotel shuttle to the port. Embarkation was pretty easy. We waited in the "Platinum" section and were allowed access to a private room with a continental breakfast. Except they were out of coffee, pastries and juice...

I had my first laugh as Rich (sweet husband) asked if they didn't board special needs passengers first. I said that might be half the ship and we both laughed. It was actually nice not to be special needs for a change.

Once boarded we found our way to our first mini suite. The extra size was very nice and we enjoyed it on this 15 day cruise.

Suntanned Toes and Princess Pizza as well as the first bucket of beer purchased on this cruise were a great start to the cruise.

I will continue this later. If you have any questions feel free to let me know. I think we have all the Patters and the laundry is complete so I have time to respond.

Next Entry: The value of the CC Role call and stories on our fellow passengers.....

  9. Certainly the passenger contract is very detailed. Truly do not think most on this thread are questioning the care in the medical gallery but the lack of intervention at the time of incident. The contract might save against law suits, but basic first responder can save lives....
