  1. They were only introduced on RCL recently - after they had their own child death by drowning last year.

We had been on carnival 2 time and then RCI and they had vests and thought it was a fantastic idea since there were no life saving staff.

  2. I welcome the change, We always prepay our gratuities and actually think if everyone did we'd have lower fares not higher. The estimated 30% who do pay the gratuities subsidise those who don't. Just my opinion.

I Feel that you are subsidizing the company by paying gratuities!

I am probably going to be abused here. I feel that the companies should pay their staff a proper wage.

The cruise companies overheads should include wages. They would not be able to run a business without these people. They are not something that should be marketed as an extra service. When I go on a holiday I want to relax and not worry about tipping. People say you are ripping off the service off by not paying tips when the first and biggest rip off are the cruise companies not paying the a proper wage and keeping more profits.

  3. They will charge your creditcard periodically in whatever currency you choose. They charge 2 or 3% for conversion from USD. Check your card's terms and conditions. You can preload your account over the phone. They did the conversion for free and at better than market rates but the entity charging is in the USA so some banks charge a fee. Hint: if you book your next cruise onboard you get a credit to your _current_ onboard account that is sometimes larger than the deposit. That's free money.

Can anyone elaborate on the booking of your next cruise whilst on board? Sounds very interesting!!!

  4. Unfortunately you can not control when people choose the convenient time and affordability to cruise. What you can do do is choose a cruise that has a limit put on kids or no kids at all.

It is not rude or selfish that a family goes cruising in school term. What is selfish is the person who thinks they deserve the cheaper fares and run of the ship!

We are all entitled to do what suits us!
