They need to improve the food to have a luxury offering. Love their product except for the food.

Make a reservation for Chefs table first day you board for best selection. The menu is the same every night at Chefs table.

Two on AMA and looking for a different line because we felt the food at dinner was subpar. breakfast and lunch were good to very good. I know it is subjective but we were a group of six and it got to be laughable with the fish names and the cheap cuts of beef. One cruise was before Covid. Afterwards, I wrote a detailed letter to management about our experience. The owner wrote back saying that most guests think the food is wonderful. I’ve been reading reviews and most guests agree with us! Looking at Seine cruises Scenic, Uniworld, Tauck and Riverside in hopes the food will be better.

Which itinerary? How was food, excursions? What was not included?

Thank you! Great review, makes me want to try Scenic!

With the Danube cruise, choose the Magna, it’s the best!

I just booked our business class tickets Lufthansa and paid the same price as 2019. We don’t live in hub city, so for some reason AMA never has the flights we want and has never had a lower price. I wish we could book aus with them.

Currently booked on Magna suite 301, the first cabin by the lounge. Has anyone had one of these first cabins on either deck and bothered by noise?

Great review, thanks for posting. We were on a Rhine cruise with AMA pre covid. Agree that the food was ok and not very seasoned. It was actually the only thing that disappointed us. I even complained in the survey they send after about it. The letter I received back didn't promise anything and actually made me feel bad that I complained (like I was the only one).
Was hoping that the food would have improved, but I guess that is not the case.
We are still going to try again with the Magna on the Danube in the fall.

Try going to any of the online booking sites. You can see which cabins are available.

Had this problem too. I think it is an issue of where your cruise ends. If in smaller town/city, then you need to take connecting flight to larger hub city, like Paris, Frankfort, etc. Those flight times are mid morning usually. If you could, stay a day or so later, tour the large city and fly out at better time.

We are in US. In a quandary here. Moved our Danube cruise from last October 2020 to first week of June 2021. Final payment coming up next week.
I really don't think cruising will start In early June (not enough vaccinated, lockdowns, new variants, etc). Didn't purchase the Travel Waiver Plus, but have trip insurance. We can either cancel (but lose deposit plus future cruise benefit purchased in 2019. Make final payment and if they cancel then get 115% fcc but they keep our money longer, or rebook and kick the can down the road!) We are a family group with 4 cabins. All but one couple have gotten both vaccines. Main hang up is what will cruising look like and will we be able to do/see all as before, will it be worth the new prices we are seeing?
Any suggestions?

Anybody have any experience with their future cruise booking?
We cruised last July. Purchased the future cruise booking benefit (deposit plus 5% off). Booked a cruise for Oct 2020.
So my TA says if we cancel, we lose $200 each deposit. If we rebook, they will transfer funds to new cruise, but the price may be higher.
Either way it sounds like we lose the FCC. I'm not happy about this. We should be able to reuse it on a future cruise.
Anyone have this situation?

We are booked for Oct 11. Trying to stay optimistic, but not sure how this will all shake out.
We are going to decide early June to keep reservation or reschedule.
Not sure what post pandemic tourism will look like.

I just looked at our receipt. We (husband and I)sent everything we wore to the laundry every day! Averaged about $12 euros/day.

Needing info about SA suites on Magna. Read a trip report and writer said that the music and revelry from the lounge at night could be noisy in tyhe front cabins. Has anyone stayed in the first SA cabins and was noise a problem? I’m looking at 304. Thx!

AMA offers laundry services( no dry cleaning) for a fee, per piece. They did not have an option by the bag last year On the Kristina. But the prices were very reasonable, and we left it on our bed in the morning and it was returned by the afternoon or evening at the latest. We were very pleased and used it everyday.

For the AMA cruises precruise is in Bilbao. Has anyone done this? Which airport do you fly into?
-
Just flew business Lufthansa in July. Not once were our bags weighed. Like others say, label all, consider mixing your clothing with your partner, always buy travel insurance for lost/delayed bags.

Following, looking at this for 2020

I know there is selection of included wines at dinner. Do they also have other bottles to purchase if you would like something other than what is offered?
-
Which canal hop on hop off did you do? We will be in Amsterdam Sunday for precruise AMA Rhine cruise.
I walk with a cane. Could you tell me if it will be difficult to board/unboard from the boats? Enjoying your report.

Only the dividers in the deck 11 Aquaclass rooms can be opened, on M class, the other balconies on other decks cannot.

Thanks for your review, photos, and videos. Love the look of the stateroom, but really disappointed to see shower curtains, no outlet by left side of bed and the uncomfortable balcony chairs and no footrests. What were they thinking?

AMA Magna no question for a Danube cruise. Larger than other ships. Book a suite for free laundry and other perks.
