  1. All very sad. Really sorry to hear that some people will not get their money back from other Countries. Good points made above about the excellent cruise experience that both these companies gave. We cruise a lot and with many different companies - but VoD and Swan Hellenic were very special. Feel very sorry for the crew who have delivered excellent service on every cruise we have had with them. Sincerely hope that they find alternative employment very soon and also really hope to see them on another cruise line in the future.

  2. :D Although I must say my hubby and I talk non stop and we've been married 27 years :D

As we walked though to our table to two last week on Oriana I noticed there were about 6 tables for two empty (we had waited about 40 mins so I was a little cross!) But they soon filled up. Obviously all just been paged.

Has Oriana already gone to a freedom choice then? I thought it was starting next year.

  3. Off on Oraina again in 4 weeks time. Always enjoy my cruises on her. Yes she is getting older now but i know this when i book and if i was concerned about this would stick to newer ships. However as Jean has pointed out there is no guarantees even then. My feeling is that her last major refit gave her a new lease of life and i for one would be very sorry to see her leave the P&O fleet.

Happy cruising all whatever ship you choose :)

Just looking through all these posts again having posted very early on on page one. Have since visited the site mentioned in the quote which is very interesting and again provokes memories from the past. I am on Aurora in June so will visit the Uganda Room and pause and think that 1st Cruising experience again. Happy Cruising all. :)

  5. Hi there

My first cruise was on SS Uganda - Nov 73. We flew to Malta, all very exciting as had never flown before. Last port of call was Venice and I flew home from there. It was a fantastic opportunity. On P&O Aurora there is the 'Uganda Room' which has a model of the SS Uganda in it - I always have a look at it when on board. Hooked on cruising now and have sailed with quite a few companies - but sail with P&0 more often that with other companies.

    Happy cruising, Graham :)
