  1. We were there in August and we were able to hire bikes so we're able to see a lot more than by walking.  As said previously, with bears in the area it is not recommended that you get too far off the beaten track.  We were abke to stop and talk to the locals including a carver who was finishing off a totem pole and he gave us a very informative chat about the story of the pole.  We also spoke to some local indigenous ladies.  A great way to be able to interact with the locals and learn more about them directly from the horses mouth, so to speak, rather then tourist speak.  Enjoy

  2. World Cafe for us as well.  Main Restaurant was quite slow in their service.  We loved the WC for its ambience, relaxation and you can have small portions of just about everything on offer if you want.  Drinks were replenished regularly and you reall y got to know the staff.  But as someone else has commented, everyone is different.  Each to their own.  Leaving in three weeks for our pre-cruise and then onto the Orion on the 15th.  Cant wait

  3. We are visiting Alaska from New Zealand in July.  There a few places that offer ziplining.   Which one would you recommend especially with regards to value for money?  Thanks in advance

  4. We are from New Zealand and have taken our overseas visitors to Rotorua many a time, On our last visit we struck up conversation with some Amercians who had been to Yellowstone and they thought Rotorua was far superior. Which particular place in Rotorua would you likely be visiting, The wonderland of Waiatapu is the place to go.

  5. We were in Florence with Viking in April and took the On Your Own excursion and this suited us really well. As well as being taken direct to the outskirts and them walked to the centre (about 10 min walk) we had ample time and opportunity to do what we wished. We saw all the major attractions as well as visiting the Palace and its grounds which was a treat and not many people there. We were able to do everything at our leisure as well as have time for shopping, eating etc. Our guide provided us with a map prior to leaving the bus and gave us a detailed plan of attack so that we covered all the highlights as well as being able to get our bearings and hence not get lost. Definitely consider doing Florence this way.

  6. Hi

Not sure how active you are but when we were here in April of this year we did a biking tour with Koper Tours details of which are below.

We can offer you a Private/Shared Guided Parenzana Biking Tour, as per description with a professional English speaking guide, trekking bikes, obligatory helmets, with end in Portoroz and return transfer back to the ship.

Please let us to know how many of you are interested for this tour.

We can put departure at 12:00 and you are back around 4:30pm.

The price is 75,00 euros per pax (on minimum 4people)

We thoroughly enjoyed our personal interaction with our guide who took us to salt farms, olive groves, and told us a lot about himself and his family as well as the general area. We stopped for coffee and cake during the tour as well as ice-cream at the end.

    Highly recommended

  7. If you looking for an alternative tour of Split we can highly recommend this bike tour run by Meridien Ten.

The city bike tour lasts up to 3 hours and costs EUR 47,00 per person.

We had a wonderful guide who took us to places that you would necessarily go to on your own or with your usual city tours.

Our guide was wonderful and you learn so much more from a one on one tour with a local who is passionate about their city.

  9. We came from New Zealand and had four days in London prior to joining Viking in Bergen for he Homelands cruise in June 2015. We arranged our own flight to Bergen and was as follows

"flight with Norweigan It leaves London Gatwick at 0840am and is a direct flight.

At the moment it`s NZD292.00 for two tickets which include luggage."

    (Quote from our travel agent)

I had researched how to get from the airport to the port (bus) but we were lucky enough to arrive in Bergen at the same time as the Viking included flight from Iceland arrived. I asked one of the numerous Viking reps at the airport if we could transfer with them on one of the many buses they had waiting and it was no problem at all. No charge and they made us feel very welcome.

  10. We booked on our next Viking ocean cruise (Alaska 2019) while on board our previous cruise in April just past and received the discount that was being offered in their brochure together with a discount for booking on board and also a frequent cruiser discount (Alaska will be number 4). Cant exactly remember how much it all came too. Paid our of deposit $500 each and final payment to be made 90 days prior to departure. We were very pleased.

  11. Hi Pat

We did this excursion from Zadar and the bus ride was no more than an hour from memory. We left port at 9.30 and once back in port had the tour of Zadar with our guide which, as it was on a Sunday afternoon, was not crowded. Lunch was included in the excursion and was enough to keep you going for the rest of the afternoon. You don't actually spend any time in the town per se only to have lunch but the waterfalls were wonderful. Great to get out into the countryside and see nature at its best. Hope this helps. Helen

  12. We booked our cruise Istanbul to Barcelona in 2015 and subsequently the Istanbul portion was cancelled and changed to leaving from Athens. We decided to go to Istanbul prior to our cruise and are so glad we did. Our four days were full days and never did we feel uncomfortable and would recommend anyone to go there. Did not feel at all threatened at any time This was March this year. A wonderful city

  13. We did the walk back from Oia and can highly recommend it. Took us about 3hrs and that included stops for photos (many) and a stop for lunch (we had taken our own). A beautiful walk with fantastic views and as there were hardly any people on the track a lovely quiet way to enjoy the island to its fullest. Highly recommend that you do this.

  14. We have been on two ocean cruises and have booked a third. On both previous cruises - Homelands in 2015 and Athens to Barcelona in 2017 - we only had to pay 90 days out from departure date. That is also the case with our upcoming cruise - Alaska 2019. We didn't have to request this - just a standard procedure for us.

  15. We were in Santorini in April on a cruise ship. We took the ships included tour to Oia had a quick look around and then walked back to the cable car. The walk took us three hours which included stops for photos (numerous) and a stop for a picnic lunch we took with us. We still had time for a well deserved beer and a walk around before having to get back to the boat.

The walk was one of the highlights of our holiday and the views and scenery majestic. You wont regret it.
