  1. I think NCL should do away with the AARP discount and go with a Senior discount. Not everyone wants to join AARP.

I'm fine with them offering a senior discount, but you should realize that AARP membership is available to anyone, not just senior citizens.

I would think NCL is going to partner with another party to offer booking discounts. I guess we will have to wait until the end of the month to see.

GSC closing for a month and a half; what is up with that???

  2. I have family in the water treatment and processing business who said he was going to the Bahamas to consult on some ship work. No ship name was specified. It did make me find this thread though; I wonder if they discovered issues with the onboard water generation system that required extended docking.

Does anyone know what ships are currently in dry dock and / or if there are water generation issues?

  3. Hi everyone ; glad I found this thread.

My wife and I have "linked" Amex cards; different numbers but all charges go to one bill. I looked and each card had the offer. I added the offer on each, but so far I have made a payment on just my card. I immediately received the response automated email from Amex saying to look out for my statement credit.

Has anyone had luck using TWO cards to make two payments on a "linked" account?

I applied the credit to my charge card and booked the cruise using my CC #.

My DH AE card is under my account but with a different number.

Will he be entitled to the offer under his number?

If so' date=' how can I applied to my booking?[/quote']

Sounds very similar to the situation I posted above. Sizzlechest says it is a GOOD TO GO for us.

I am going to wait for the first credit to full post and then go ahead and use the second card as well.

  5. I personally think a tip of $3.90 doesn't even cover having the room cleaned once a day.

But Carnival does. That's what they feel is the going rate for maintaining their hotel and keeping guests happy.

I truly hope I don't have an issue getting twice a day service when requested.

Amount of times I want to talk to a supervisor: zero

Amount of times I want to go to guest services: zero

Amount of time I want to spend trying to get what I have gotten up until now: none.

All of that micromanagement is "work" and something I'm not interested in doing on vacation. Sorry to say these companies really don't care what anyone says, they only care when you vote with your wallet. It's the only language they understand universally.

  6. we got off the 21 dasy triumph cruise .cabin stewards were grumbling about more cabins to clean .32 a day they were not happy.heard they have lost lots of long time stewards and waiters.

That's a tough job. If they are giving one person 32 rooms...I just don't see how it will be possible to sustain. What if on one cruise everyone selects morning? What if on another cruise everyone selects both?

It just seems like they are messing with a proven formula and as a paying guest I don't see the benefit to this.

Well, I will just let them know I prefer twice daily and hope it's not an issue in real life.

  7. Absolutely.

Some people being overly protecting of NCL may well be an issue on these forums, but this tendency to write off everyone who discusses these points as cheerleaders and such is equally as bad.

Some of us on here have made legitimate points. The OP has raised their point and has made comments such as that there is was just one (non changing) option in the MDR and that, for example, Jasmine Garden doesn't have a vegetarian option. I don't think that there is any harm in pointing out that this is not factual information on most NCL cruises.

Maybe there was a specific issue on this cruise (although I doubt it), but letting those comments stand is misleading to others who may be looking for information. I'm not going to let myself be bullied into stopping doing so by the self appointed forum police.

I have no issues with sharing personal experiences or correcting factual inaccuracies.

But if you read this forum daily it is demoralizing and negative energy. It's a small cluster of people that are mean spirited. Everyone has to be SOMETHING behind a keyboard I suppose. Nice and helpful is easier than mean spirited and hateful.

  8. I certainly didn't come here to "discredit, bash or run OP out of town"

I came here, having a daughter who is vegetarian, wondering how someone could have such a huge issue that they felt like they were treated as "third tier passengers"

I shared our own experience, thinking that was what CC was all about! I actually feel offended that my comments are regarded as "sad and pathetic"

The OP stated that they "made a request for vegetarian food at the time of buying tickets". Well I haven't had that many cruises with NCL or anyone else, but I wasn't aware you could do this. I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong about that.

There are a number of forum members who pop in to any negative thread and immediately smear and try to discredit the original poster. It is the same handful of people every time. They pounce and attack and take any criticism of their favored cruise line very personally and respond, at best, dismissively and at worst maliciously. I've resigned myself to reading far more than posting because of this. generally this is a useful forum for information. If you're not amongst those type of posters don't worry about it and don't be offended by my comments. It is just so off putting to see people put down for voicing their complaints. Sharing your experiences is helpful, not a negative.

  9. MisterFidgetpants -- Your most recent posts seem to be about Royal Caribbean, have you ever sailed NCL?

    Yes, I have.

I just think this forum goes really rough on anyone that has a problem or criticism. NCL offers alternative menus, I don't know why it was so difficult for OP onboard. Everyone here says complaining afterwards is futile. I agree. But the OP tried to reach the right person onboard and got rebuffed. Since they are a new poster the mob here just try to smear them or shout them down. This place should help people, not put them down. Endorsing a manager ignoring a guest is ridiculous. Why should anyone put up with that? It's bad service.

Look, even myself, I expressed my opinion and a long term forum bully has called it a "pantload".

everyone have a good day, try to be a little nicer and more helpful to those who are venting or looking to resolve an issue. the mob mentality is pretty ugly and not helpful in the least.

And yes, I would suggest Royal Caribbean because OP won't have problems like this on their ships.

  10. No mention that quite a few vegetarians have commented on how they have never had an issue with being well fed or treated appropriately?

There is the usual handful of people here to discredit, bash, and run OP out of town. I thought these forums were to help people resolve issues, not victim blame more. Someone has an issue, people only want to smear OP. Come on, we're all adults.

If you want better service don't bother chasing NCL for it, vote with your wallet. I think OP will find Royal Caribbean will take MUCH better care of them. And I wouldn't blame them if they never returned to CC forums.

  11. I know. Just gets tiresome seeing the same topics on the thread overview page, time and time again.

Most topics on this forum are regurgitations

Is a drink package worth it

    How much do cabanas cost

can I bring XYZ on the ship

    Has anyone done ABC excursion

Most can find relevant answers via search.

All the mass market cruise lines collect an automatic gratuity, and they all also allow the guest to opt out and handle things however they wish. So long as that's the policy set by the company people will choose what to do. It's not worth what a stranger says getting you aggravated. If you don't like a topic, skip it.

  12. Fyi, I knew I would get flamed for posting this, so much for people understanding the work and effort one puts into in organizing a slot pull. Of course we did not tell the casino which machine we were going to use. And yes, I did buy powerball tickets the day we sailed. We had a great time dreaming up all the ways to spend our money. So happy I could entertain all of you.

What's the work and effort of organizing a slot pull have to do with it?

  13. That's how I learned about it...so probably!

I'm glad for honesty too, although I was hoping she could do it for me so I could book the new ship. Alas, I'll wait until general bookings open and hopefully be able to call and add the 5% when I get the black card.

I spoke to an agent named Ellie Vidal who was exceptionally helpful. She went into the system and manually expedited everything. It was just luck that I had reached her by calling the main number, but when I called back with a question I asked for her by name and was able to speak to her again. She was able to go back in and add (well, subtract!) the 5% from my booking.

  14. I tried the link but they are asking for a booking number to join the VC. Do you have to be booked in order to join ?

In my case I submitted my Status match information.

    Then booked a cruise.

I asked how long it would take to see it and the agent said I should go in and make a new voyagers number and then she can find everything and put it together. In that case I had the black tier and discount issued within 48 hours. So maybe you do have to have a booking # in that case.

Perhaps if you don't have a cruise booked the only way is to ask for a status match and then they create a number for you? I am not sure, sorry. If you call their phone number they have an option just for the Voyagers club and they got everything squared away for me.

  15. Thanks for the insight Mister FP. I'll start working on getting the status match. As for trading "up" for an inside with a baby, I'll have to pass. Been there, done that, loved it but happy to be past the baby stage. We did just get off he Grandeur where we had all 4 of us in a Panoramic view room and that worked very well.

And just call them up for the 5% off your base fare. They sent me a new invoice immediately showing the discount. Makes a good impression.

  16. I have a thread going now about matching my RCI diamond status to MSC.

Within 2 days they gave me black card (highest tier) status and also applied a members 5% discount to my booking. If you haven't matched your status yet, and some report long waits and issues, what I suggest (and was told to me by MSC to do) is to create a Voyagers club number with MSC. THEN submit your match information. This supposedly makes the process much faster.

    https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/MSC-Voyagers-Club/Voyagers-Club.aspx

I'm looking forward to it. Whatever someone did or didn't like I won't dwell on before going. I know it will be different somewhat, that is what I look forward to.

Want to trade an inside with a baby for your YC? :)

  17. Wow. The serenity is forward. I loved it being aft on the Inspiration. How is the sernity area?? I'm traveling on Victory next month and its a kid free trip so I want as much serenity time as possible.

We had a kid with us so never used it, I just checked it out while doing a walking tour of the ship. On the lower level starboard side are hot tubs and a bar. On the upper level there are loungers on both port and starboard but that is also the entrance to the water slide. the lower level port side of the area is the kiddie wading pool.

The Lido deck sound level (speakers, music) is OBNOXIOUSLY high on this ship. There is no such thing as background music, just ear splitting, bass thumping SO YOU KNOW YOU ARE HAVING FUN! I don't know how much that invades Serenity area or not but I feel safe in saying it won't be totally quiet there.

If Serenity isn't doing it for you, go behind the funnel on the jogging track where it is quiet and they set out lounge chairs or deck 3 exterior is silent except for sound of waves.

  18. Current shows are living in america and vroom.

If you can snag a deal on oceanviews they are ENORMOUS 220 SQ ft rooms; really nice. HAd one on deck 2 just below forward atrium and panoramic elevators.

Food I thought was very, very good. MDR in particularly great. Pizza excellent. Buffet food good but long lines everytime, everywhere in there. Bad layout.

Try to find the Ionian Bar! Literally!

Yes there is Serenity up top and all the way forward. There is also a pretty open sundeck aft where the jogging track is. Deck 3 exterior promenade deck (does not wrap around) off of the main lobby is very quiet and relaxing and has lounge chairs too.

No Guys. No Iguana. No specialty restaurants. Has a taste bar (rolling cart outside of casino). Seaday Brunch and Tea Time were really good. Was not my favorite ship of all time but had a good time and thought it was good value.
