  1. Yeah, I just mentioned them as options if someone wants an upscale chain. If nothing else, the St. Regis had a mean Bloody Mary!! The dearth of decent restaurants is also apparent by the hotel I stayed at, the Westin. But, I had plans already and didn't find it a hard thing to walk from there to the Pantheon area and Campo di Fiore neighborhoods. Termini is actually not far from the Westin, about a half mile at most.

  2. Armando al Pantheon - aa good as ever. Artichoke and bufalo mozzarella appy, spaghetti cacio e pepe, Roman torta dessert. Little bottle of house red. Yummm.

Stopped into Ginger for lunch. Bright, cheery, crowded, lots of business people. Good place if you are tired of carbs and want some greens. Big entree salads, sandwiches and good-looking entrees. Lunch specials looked excellent, but I wanted a salad and one of their drinks made fresh to order. If you are near Spanish Steps/Via Condotti area, it is there.

  3. I'm in Rome now. Been looking at "fashion" around the last 2 days. Women mostly in jeans or pants and tshirts with sweaters or jackets. Very few dresses, fewer skirts. Surprisingly, quite a few women wearing leggings. Virtually no shorts. Today in Vatican City, saw a few inappropriate sundresses on women trying to get into St. Peter's Bascilica - long enough, but no straps or sleeves. Weather is in the low-mid 70s day and 60s evening.
