Of course any "live" thing is illegal to take.

It is illegal to bring the conch shells back to the US through customs. Just be careful
Where did you hear/read that it is illegal to bring conch shells back into the USA???
We recently returned from St Lucia and we were told that you had to pack them in your checked luggage NOT in your carry on. Apparently they are considered "dangerous weapons" cause of their pointed ends! But it was o.k. to bring them into the country. Maybe this has changed???
Thanks!

Several years back we sailed on the Paradise and in the next cabin was a seeing-eye dog. That beautiful dog went everywhere on the ship and always layed next to the feet of her "master". There were certain times each day where the dog was allowed on the uppermost deck to run and play and get exercise.
I asked the question that everyone asks....where does the dog "go"? The answer....the "poop" deck. :D Apparently the dog was "pad" trained.

On my first cruise when I was 14, we were on the Franconia (o.k. now I'm aging myself) there was one woman who wore the same gold lamé (sp?) dress morning, noon, and night all seven days. Her luggage COULD have been lost, but there was a shop on the ship to buy another outfit...so I'm not sure why she didn't. I can still picture her all these years later!

Wow, I have really enjoyed reading this post....especially seeing all the pictures of those beautiful old ships!
My first cruise was in 1970 on the Cunard Franconia, NY to Bermuda.
