  1. I am on the same cruise in November,  It looks like there is a free bus called DASH that goes all around.  You might look into that.

I booked a Fort Sumter tour directly through the National Park System.  It looks like the departing dock for the ferry is within walking distance of the cruise terminal.

On Rhapsody (a vision class ship), there were no milkshakes or smoothies available. If not having coffee or juice, the things you can get over what's included in the soda package are speciality teas, mocktails and bottled / canned still and sparkling water.

Thank you.  That was very helpful.  Might be why the price is lower than on other ships.  Definitely not worth it for me.

Makes sense and I agree with a lot of your preferences.  But, I have to ask about ordering no more than a piece of fruit.  I mean, I'm visualizing something like a pear or peach slice.   Curious.

Usually the fruit is three thin slices of melon.  Maybe its listed as melon plate or something like that on the menu.

  4. I cruise because it is an easy to plan vacation.  No picking out various hotels, rental cars, etc.  Also, I  like the ease of trying out various locales without having to lug around luggage to and from car/hotel.  Added bonus is that I love the entertainment in the evenings and that my husband and I can have different schedules so easily.  I get up early and eat in the windjammer.  Then read until he wakes up.  Then I join him for breakfast in the dining room but don't order more that a piece of fruit.  I go to shows while he goes whiskey tasting.  We don't have to compromise for a change.

  5. My family of 4 will be arriving in Seattle several days before our cruise departs.  We are renting a car so that we can visit friends around the Puget Sound area.  We are staying in a Hotel near the Space Needle.

Our current plan for cruise departure day is for DH to drop myself, kids, and luggage at the Cruise Port 91 and then drive to SeaTac to return the rental car.  Then take some kind of shuttle/uber back to the cruise port.

Is there some kind of easier way?  This way means kids and I are just loitering around with our luggage waiting for his return for an hour or two.    I have thought about changing just his boarding time, but my daughter is officially in his room and I am not sure if they would let her board with me (not the adult in her room).

  6. When I went on a cruise as a young person.  I was happy enough just playing trivia, shuffleboard, ping pong, and watching movies in the theater.  I guess I was easy to please and just happy to be on vacation.   I didn't really do many shore excursions either because I was too poor to afford them.  I just had fun walking around port wherever we were.  My husband and I shared an ocean view cabin with my sister and her husband.   We were packed in, barely able to move at all, but we all have fond memories of the trip.

  7. I just wanted to share what an great experience I had today when I called the Crown and Anchor Society for questions about my family's member numbers.

Firstly I got through to an actual person almost immediately.

The person easily understood my question and helped me get my entire family signed up to the program and credited for their previous cruise taken 5 or so years ago.  All done very quickly and efficiently.

Such a positive experience I had to share.

So if you need help, a phone call actually is an efficient way to get the help you need.

Any ship that still has more guests booked than permitted by sailing day will have a thunderdome on the dockside. Guests will be drawn randomly and face off until enough are eliminated to allow sailing.

Any pairs/groups of guests where not all survive will put their seapasses in a hat to decide who bunks up with who. The draw will be final and no swapping will be allowed.

Orphaned children will become wards of the ship and tend to the engine as apprentices until they come of age, at which point they will enter the thunderdome themselves with another crew member to fight for a paid position.

Love it.  Time to brush up on  my  kickboxing skills.

Personally, I wish the Hosts would automatically remove posts who described people as  ‘Clowns’ and “Cheerleaders’. It’s insulting and negates people’s opinions without actually addressing the issues - just putdowns. And of course, mine would be removed too!!

Clowns are discerning customers too.  Don't put down clowns, some of us are sad enough already.  I can't speak for cheerleaders.  🤡

What is wrong with a plaid shirt, since that is really what a lumberjack shirt is, and plaid shirts are very much in style.

Agreed.  It is a collared button down shirt which is clearly acceptable.  Lumberjacks are handsome and snuggly why turn them away?😄

  11. I am excited to learn that people in the same cabin can have two different drink packages.

I was wondering if I get the premium non-alcoholic drink package and then order and alcoholic drink if I would just pay the difference between a set price or would have to pay for the entire drink?

Mostly I like smoothies but might have 1 or 2 cocktails during the duration of the cruise.

  12. Great review and thoughts. We just came back from the Jade last week and were also thoroughly disappointed with the MDR food. Also there seemed not much to do during sea days. Or things scheduled right when we wanted to eat. (Trivia or game shows at 12:30) Basically I felt that there wasn't anything to complain about directly, but we all felt that there was nothing special. Nothing made us feel special or the trip feel special in any way, like we have been made to feel on other cruises. The library and game room were always full. Probably because people had to make their own fun because no activities were offered. We did do the painting activity because we were lucky enough to get a spot. Only space for 12 people at a time. Couldn't they find a place where they could fit in more people? We were also sad we couldn't play shuffle board while in port.

  13. They have been offering excursions since Harvest Caye first opened but as each month approaches they show the excursions as suspended. So in January I was actually able to complete a booking for my cruise at the end of March (I did not, but got all the way to the payment page and decided to wait) but it would have been canceled. Now if you go to book it says it's currently suspended Mar 1-31. I would assume they are waiting until they get permission from NCL to come pick people up.

Thanks for the info. That is what I figured was happening so I won't bother booking for April to be disappointed later.

  14. I have done a cabin with 4 twice (on other lines). 2 adults and 2 kids in an inside cabin. It was doable but we did not hang out in the room. Only slept and changed clothes. Adults could sit on coach while kids were in their upper births to hang out briefly.

I also did 4 adults in an oceanview (two couples). Again is was pretty tight and we just were there to sleep and change clothes. It was two couples so we took turns changing in the bathroom. Sharing the room made it feasible for us to take the trip and I don't regret it. And we still all get along.

I would imagine it will be tight but fine if you and your daughters generally all get along.

  15. I wear a bikini top. I tried with nothing underneath. The swim shirt was okay without anything underneath until I actually swam and then was a little bit revealing. Now I am collecting fun ones from Lands End. Someday they will just put a shelf bra into the shirt. Impatiently waiting for that day to come.
