  1. We are leaving on our Royal Caribbean cruise in a week. We are in Havana for two days. We booked a ship excursion for the first day. We have nothing arranged for day 2 in Havana. Can we just walk around on our own?

I'd like to recommend Romillio, one of Blexie's employees. He speaks excellent English, with barely an accent. Probably from his 15 years working as a PR rep for one of the big hotels. He is very knowledgeable of the history of Havana and will tailor his tour to your desires.

You would need to hire him through Blexie, but I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

I looked on the website and there are not any details as to the private tours. Do you have any information as to what you do on the tour?

  3. Okay he wants the full amount upfront from each of us (it's three couples and we want to pay separately). No lunch included for the city tour and Carnival's city tour includes lunch and is $49.99 each. He wants $45. Same exact tour. Thinking we will just go with Carnival even thought I typically avoid booking tours with them these days, but at this port, we'll be the only ship there so it won't be overrun with other ship goers and at least we can wait until last minute to book.

  6. My family booked a private driver for the day to take us to some Puerto Plata sightseeing. We went to the Amber Museum, the cable car, to a nice lunch with authentic food, a drive along the beach and drove by the fort but didn't go in because we were all too tired - but there was time. We also wandered around the port (and got our passports stamped) but didn't use the pool or zip line. We had about 2 hours to spare if we chose to, but went back to the ship for swimming and relaxing instead.

Jose Miguel can be reached at josepaulino24@hotmail.com. We found out about him on the DR port board on Cruise Critic and we liked him a lot - as did many others.

Does Jose have a website with tour options and prices?

  7. We are on a Baltic cruise in June. How do you acquire all the different currencies needed?

We will need the following currencies: Danish Kroner, Norwegian Kroner, Euro, Swedish Kroner, and Russian Rubles.

I know using an ATM gives the best exchange rate. Do you look for an ATM in each port?

  8. We went to Berlin with SPB Tours last year and thought the time there and back were worth it. That's a very personal decision, some think it's worth the long travel time others not. We did extensive research and felt very safe time wise with SPB and were glad we went with a smaller group. Just our experience, but we would go with them again.

The tour gave us a wonderful overview of Berlin and we hope to be able to return again someday.

which SPB tour of Berlin did you do? I see they offer three.

  9. We were on the Vision of the Seas last year and joined a group of CC's in undertaking a tour with SPB. They were brilliant and highly professional - can highly recommend them. No problems at all.

We were told by our travel agent that if we don't book an excursion in St Pete through the ship we would need to get a separate visa. What do you know about this?
