  1. How do we get transportation back to the ship from Brewers Bay?
can we rent chairs at Brewers Bay?  We are not worried about food, but would love some shade and a chair.

Our ship excursions for the best excursions are booked up.  I’m so sorry that we didn’t book something sooner!

  2. This was our second time cruising Alaska.  In Skagway we took the train the first time.  This trip we did the Princess excursion “To the Klondike Summit” in a mini bus.  It was $100 cheaper pp, and the guide said 10 miles shorter than the train ride.  $50.  Well worth it!

In ISP we did “Whales and Wildlife” through the cruise line.  $179.  The boat was comfortable and spacious.  Loved it!  Lots of whales, sea otters, etc.  The boat is heated, with big windows, and lots of outdoor viewing spots.  ISP is wonderful.
We loved the Glacier viewing days on the ship.
In Juneau we did whale watching the first time with Harv and Marv.  Excellent tour, but it might be too cold because their boat was open.  This time we just walked around the port area.  We have done Mendenhall Glacier in the past.  Great excursion.
Ketchican - We did the Duck tour the first time.  $$$.  This time we walked around.

  3. There are many advantages to cruising in Alaska early in the season.  We were on the Sapphire Princess April 28 - May 10.  We had clear, calm cool weather except for rain at night a couple of times.  We didn’t have any fog.  We saw whales many times, including orcas and humpbacks in ISP.  We saw 2 bears along the shoreline, many eagles, porpoises, and sea otters. The naturalist said that the glaciers are the most beautiful early in the season, before they turn black on top.  There were very few other ships in the ports, which was nice!
We took ship excursions, and did our own thing a few times.  There were local tour guides set up eager to work in every port.  The weather rarely got above 50, but we were prepared.
    We had a wonderful trip!

    So appreciate this!!...

The bus to Fortress of the Bears and the Raptor Centre is now $20.  We did it last week.  Each of the centres is $15 pp.  I would skip all of those options, and just take the free shuttle to Sitka and walk around.  It is a pretty little town.

  5. We have been on several Princess cruises, but have always eaten dinner in the dining rooms.  We are going to Alaska soon, and I think it might be fun to sit by the window and have dinner in the buffet.  It will be light outside, and I just don’t feel like dressing up for this cruise!  I will be wearing sweaters and pants.  I’d love to know if the quality is the same in the buffet. Is lobster served in the buffet on lobster night?

  6. We were on the Enchanted Princess in February, and had dinner in the Crown Grill and the Italian restaurant.  I am restricted to gluten free dining, and I did not enjoy the specialty restaurants.  I thoroughly enjoyed the regular dining room meals, and felt there were more options and great food there.

That's a very valid point.  I haven't walked it in all these years but it does look nice along the ocean front.  How long is the walk approx?  (Sorry to have veered off topic somehow from the original question by OP!)

The walk from Crown Bay to Charlotte Amalie is a little longer & there's not much of a view- Mostly past businesses.

But it's is close to Lindbergh Bay Beach which is very nice and an easy walk- side walks all the way.

I am happy to be getting all of this great information!  Thank you everyone.

Maybe is probably the best answer.   Sometimes I've been able to check by going to the port website and check the arrival/departure times and see if they agree with the times on my itinerary.  The time listed on the itinerary is the ship's time.

Thanks to all, but especially the idea of looking at the port websites.  Yes, the scheduled times match the Reflection’s posted schedule. I know that’s not official, but a good guess is fine with me.

  9. We will overnight in Aruba at the end of January.  The first day we can get off the boat at 4.  Looking for suggestions for that time.  Is there a beach close to the cruise port?  Or another activity that someone could recommend?
