No. Where did you read this?

I read that cruise lines can apply for permits to go to Cuba now so I'm keeping some hope for my August 2019 cruise. Has anyone else heard about this?

How long was your Panama Canal trip on Celebrity, OP? I would think that any trip over 10 days is going to attract the same demographic on HAL and Celebrity: namely, those with time to do it, which skews older.
The Panama trip was 17 nights.

The more I read, the more I seem to get overwhelmed, lol. I can usually create my own fun no matter the situation, just tell
me one thing. Are drink packages availabe on HAL?

By full Caribbean, I mean combining the eastern and western Caribbean. I'm not sure about the southern Caribbean.
-
Right now it is between a full Caribbean cruise on Princess, full Caribbean with Cuba on HAL Veeldam, or possibly coming back with a return discount on Celebrity. I can't seem to find a full Caribbean cruise with Celebrity however.
-
My last cruise was trans-panama via celebrity, and I had a fabulous time.

I wouldn't say I'm looking for a lot of night life. Just as long as they have a bar onboard. Also, somehow I ended up on a guided trip once with a group of 50+ people and it almost ruined the trip for me. I think it was that anyway.
-
I am in the process of selecting between one of two full caribbean cruises. One of them is on a Holland America ship and I have never sailed with them before. I was doing some research and came across an article that said HAL catered mostly to the "baby-boomer crowd". Is this true? I am in my thirties and do not want to feel "out of place".
-
Actually, I have considered it. I was even in the process of booking one once, when somehow I found a deal on a panama canal cruise. Needless to say, I did not go up the Mississippi :o

Have you looked at a line like Oceania? Their smaller ships (~ 690 passengers)have 4 restaurants (1 main dining room, 2 specialty restaurants and a buffet restaurant) and NO formal nights.
Thank you, I'll have to look into them. Do any of their ships depart from Texas or New Orleans? I would like my next cruise to be within driving distance, if possible.
-
I've been looking at the smaller ship cruises for awhile now, mainly up in the Pacific Northwest, and it got me to thinking. I've only been on the large ships before(Vision of the Seas in 2005, and Eclipse last year.) I really liked the laid back atmosphere those ships had. How much different would it be cruiseing on a smaller ship? I don't like to go to the "formal" nights, so I prefer multiple options for dining. I know that a small ship won't have nearly as many options as a larger one, but I'm just wondering if there would be another option.

I can't explain why, but don't remember hearing about any Canal cruise departing from Texas or NOLA.
Note that in September and October, ships are returning to the Caribbean from Alaska (and Europe ), not sailing from the Caribbean through the Canal.
I may be wrong(haven't planned a cruise in years), but I could have sworn that Celebrity, and maybe Windstar had some ships going to the Canal, from Texas. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I'm trying to book a cruise to the Panama Canal, in either September or October 2015. I would like to leave from either a Texas port, or New Orleans. In other words, somewhere I would be able to get to fairly quick. Can anyone help me out with this? All I seem to be able to find are cruises leaving from the West coast or East coast.

But others spend a lot more time in their room. Have motion issues and may not want to spend all their time with ear plugs in.
Understandable, I was just speaking from my own personal experiences.
-
Getting an undesireable room, I don't think would be a problem. On the last cruise I went on, I barely spent any time in the room. A pair of earplugs should solve any noise issues, I figure.
-
pretty much yeah.
only people who live less than an hour from port can actually take advantage
Last minute these days is a week out. not same day
That's what I was afraid of. How much cheaper could a week out get me?
-
My main issue with that is that I live so far inland that any booking last call rooms that morning would make getting to port that same day difficult. Is this the only way to book these so-called "cheap" rooms?
-
I've searched this, but the results were pretty much more confusing than helpful. I'm trying to get information on booking last call rooms(aka, the rooms not booked when the ship sails). I think I read that you can't just show up anymore, you have to have passport and ID info prebooked, so how would I get these deals? I've only been on one cruise, but would love to increase my experience.
-
Can anyone give me some information on this cruise line? I'm thinking of taking a trip on it, probably in August or September. Also, I live in North central Texas, and would prefer to drive to the port. Would this be possible?
-
I've got a brochure on the American Queen Steamboat Co. I'm thinking about maybe doing that late this summer. Does anyone know anything about them?

Hi, I just joined, and thought I'd post an intro. I'm not exactly new to cruising, however the only cruise I went on was back in 2005 to Alaska. That was probably the best trip of my life. Anyway, I've been looking at small ship/river cruises for awhile now. I would really prefer not to fly, and time is not very much of an issue, so I was wondering how many of these types of cruises depart from US ports. I'm looking for something on the adventurous side, by the way. I just need somewhere to get started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Masks re: navigator

I'm booked on the Navigator up the Amazon in March, but I have come across some concerns. I spent 3 months in the hospital after an accident when I was a kid and I have PTSD when it comes to masks. How prevalent are they on cruises now?
