If you are at sea you will need WiFi and iheart, Pandora or other app.  Apple Music does have radio capability on your phone.   Always with headphones, your neighbors don’t want to hear your sounds

for walk-in talkie capabilities most of the lines have an app for communication

Thanks, I'll look on the cruise line website - - don't want to carry a cell phone.

  2. PLEASE UPDATE THIS LIST AS YOU GO ALONG BECAUSE ANYONE WITH A WALKING PROBLEM NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THE WALK NECESSARY TO GET TO THE DUFRYAND EXCURSION FOLKS.

Grand Cayman - tender to the pier and then it is probably 150 yards to the gates - - mostly up hill.

Belize City - tender to the pier and maybe a 100 yards to the gates

Cozumel - could be up to 200 yards from the ship - - BUT there are pedi-cabs available for a donation

Roatan - 100 yards to DUFRY and DUFRY is about 200 feet long then there is a 100 yard, uphill climb to the shopping and excursion area. Wheelchairs service can be provided for a donation from the excursion meet area back to the ship by contacting Security (people in white).

San Juan - ships park right next to DUFRY and it is about 200 feet to the street.

Nassau - the ships tie up all along the pier and it could be quite a distance - - BUT there is a free shuttle (about a 15 person golf cart) to the DUFRY - -be patient and wait on it.

Half Moon Cay - - tender to the pier, then

then there’s a long walk down a dirt road to the pavilions and beach that have all the BBQ and there is a wrecked ship made into a bar with music, right on the edge of the beach. Not good for scooter or wheelchair transport.

GRAND TURK - ship ties outboard to the pier and the walk is 500 to 600 yards to the DUFRY. Once there the walk to the excursion could be another two hundred yards.

SAINT THOMAS - walk to the DUFRY is approximately 300 yards. If you are getting on a boat the walk could possibly be another two to three hundred yards.

AMBER COVE - the walk from the ship to the main area is at least a half a mile

    - - BUT there are pedi-cabs available for a donation. Accessible via wheelchair and scooter.

  3. Carolc00,

Please include a little about how you get from Gatun Lake back to Colon to catch any excursion planned. Also, if you can, please let us know where you are deposited on land as I am considering an Almiza tour, evidently not contracted with NCL. Thank you very much in advance.

If you want a sneak peak of the canal experience (don't want to ruin the actual experience for you though), I posted 218 pictures that I took as we went through the canal several years ago, 2012 I believe. This was on the Pearl, Miami to L.A. The pictures begin early morning as we approach the canal from the Atlantic side, and the pictures end as we exit the canal area into the Pacific. The complete transit is a full day, dawn till dusk. We did it again the other direction two years later. (And I'd go again anytime).

  4. This ship is scheduled to go thru the Gatun Locks and then turn in Gatun Lake to exit the way we came in. I was a little confused with the posted times for the Panama itinerary and called Norwegian and was told that the folks that have signed up for Colon excursions would leave the ship in Gatun Lake. She wasn't too sure of the details so - -does the ship drop the hook (anchor) and then the folks get to shore via tenders?

Second question - - where do I go on the ship to sign up for the Murder Mystery lunch? I have been told, after asking many different folks who had no clue, that there is no pre-reservation possible. I was told that we had to wait until we get on the ship and the spaces are very limited.

  5. We are booked for the Oct 17 HAL Westerdam cruise to the Western Carib. This is our first time on HAL and I cannot tell from the diagram for the verandah (balcony) if my wife's scooter is going to get in the room. There has never been a problem on Norwegian or Carnival but the rooms on these brands are set up differently. Please help.:)

  6. Being a retired military man it was just natural for me to develop a checklist for cruising. We use it for other trips also.
