1. Speaking to your Halloween question - there was a really great Halloween party last year on Enchantment of the Seas. It seemed like everyone was in costume... I would recommend a Halloween cruise to anyone. Since the same CD is on board Majesty now, I bet something similar will be planned. (Though, he's only doing it part time so he might not be the one organizing it)

  2. I haven't sailed Majesty in years but our last four cruises, Freedom, Brilliance, Independence, and Oasis, all had Long Hammer IPA...although I might have wiped them out on Brilliance. It was the only IPA on those ships.

Too funny ... I was literally just talking to someone about that. I love that there is an IPA ... But I would SO prefer a citrusy one at sea!!

  3. They are not. We don't get drink packages anyway so it doesn't make much difference. My wife's best friend and her boyfriend did and in those cases they just charge the difference between what the drink package covered and what the price of the beverage they purchased was.

I didn't know there was a brewery in Nassau..what's its name and where is it? As for Key West, two words..The Porch.

Brewery in Nasaau is Pirate Republic, and it is located across the street from the cruise port. I'll be there on Saturday. :D

  4. I had to crawl back through a year's worth of Untappd checkins, but there was, at the very last, Bass onboard. Sierra Nevada as well, IIRC.

DW and I are both beer snobs as is her best friend and best friend's boyfriend. We were QUITE happy with the lineup at the pubon Oasis. La Fin Du Monde, Widmer Hefe, Sam Adams Imperial White, Leffe...good drinking to be had onboard Oasis.

IIRC, La Fin Du Monde and those other selections were not included in the drink package, correct? At least they weren't on Liberty...

  5. Has anyone been on the Majesty recently that can attest to the beer selection? I'm a bit of a beer snob, so hoping they have something decent.

I've seen the standard Royal Caribbean drink menus, but the Majesty doesn't have a pub or anything, so I'd imagine they have even less of a selection.

I can't speak for Majesty, but when I was at Liberty towards the beginning of the year I wasn't thrilled with the beer selection even on the bigger ship. I wound up sticking with Sierra Nevada much of the week (which, seems to be a standard on most ships from menus that I've seen)... As a fellow beer snob, I would absolutely love to see some Founders or Lagunitas or something added to their selection!

  6. Not as far off as you think. We have had a Butler twice now. Both Trans Atlantic where cabins are deeply discounted.

And no calorie food is not that far a stretch. Probably doesn't have any taste, but you'll run into some of that on the ship

Haa - Maybe after a few years of cruising and a little bit more vacation time.

I might have to switch my Halloween costume to a Genie now. :)

  7. We can be creative without resorting to magic. BTW, I live next to I Dream of Jeannie Lane. I am well versed on the concept

Having a magic teleport-capable genie sounds about as real to me as having a butler on a cruise ship.

(Neither will happen any time soon.)

A liiiittle confused as to why you're so bothered by my response... haha! Someone else said to make the food have "no calories" - pick on them, too!

  8. Have you seen the cost of the rooms a Royal Genie services? Money is not an issue, but reality is ;)

... and yes, also reality - but I thought this was supposed to be creative!

I'm also admittedly picturing a literal blue 'genie in a lamp'.. so that probably doesn't help that whole "reality" factor.

  9. You're taking the Genie title a little to far now.

Maybe not - there are still constraints here around time away from work as well as money. This would simply break down the travel time spent by people who have to fly in to port.

Maybe a 'rule' could only be added here that you can only be transported to the embarkation port.

  10.
We want to book the Hawaii repo from Vancouver to Hawaii in September 2017. . . and we cruise April 27-May 7, 2016. We hope they are announced during [or before] our cruise.

We would like to have the lower deposit and OBC. Unfortunately we have used all of our old style next cruise certificates.
Ah! I would love to do one of those sailings someday. I'm currently keeping my eye on early October 2017... Maybe 2018. :)
  11. It doesn't come up very often, but one of the funniest threads I remember was someone complaining about those who show up at the pool or even in Windjammer wearing their Royal Caribbean bathrobe. Apparently that really bothered a few people, but the responses and creative suggestions for wearing the bathrobes were great.

HAHA. My boyfriend will be platinum after our next cruise in October, so when we go with family in February he'll be platinum and the rest of us will be gold. We keep telling him that if he doesn't wear the bathrobe everywhere (even dinner) that we will be quite disappointed in him.

    (Yes, we are kidding.)

  12. Truthfully we enjoyed having the freedom to walk to the different area. The beaches are gorgeous and I didn't want to be stuck in one place.

I think this is why I was on the fence. It'll be my first time on the island and I want to explore! But there is also something appealing about having a designated spot on the beach to just relax.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! :)
