  1. We are not getting a passport for our upcoming cruise. We are a family of 5. I know the risks, but we never travel out of the country. This will be our first cruise, so if we like it and plan on going on more cruises, then we'll get one. I didn't want to spend $750 if we were not going to need them again.

We are also a family of 5 and taking the kids on their first cruise next year. The cost is insane! We are leaning towards not getting them as well.

  2. We did the Easter cruise this past March on the Pride. We got on the Ship Easter Sunday.

The Easter Bunny was waiting for us when we got on the ship for some fun photo ops.

My son is 12 now, and didn't do the kids club. But unless there was something going on special for the kids that we didn't know about, the appearance by the Easter Bunny on Sunday was the only thing they had.

Thank you! That's good to know. My oldest will be turning 12 on this cruise and I hope she will check out the kids club! They have a 12-14 group i think, right?

  3. So hubby and I made a decision and we are going to book the pride over march break. It was a tough decision. But we decided it gets us on vacation sooner, it will be nice to get a break from the cold, and since we don't have to fly we can use the savings to book another cruise in the future. :)

So now I'm off to choose cabins and check prices on various sites.

I'm thinking of 2 adjacent, obstructed view balcony cabins. Can most of the balcony dividers on the pride be opened?

How was it? We are booked to go this upcoming Spring break the end of April with our 3 girls!

  4. I was on the August 28th sailing. Embarkation was a nightmare. Compensation was a joke. I sent royal this review and no response.

Tuesday 8/25 received notice that boarding will be delayed until 4-6pm due to a water system maintenance issue. This means our hotel stay the day prior to the cruise could have been avoided.

Friday 8/28 we arrive at port at 2pm and we hear rumors that the previous passengers have not departed. Our shuttle driver also said there was a bacteria in the water. Not sure if this was true. We receive a notice that we will be given $20 shipboard credit each to cover lunch and other expenses incurred. I felt this was too little given we had to stay overnight and had to buy lunch. We are bussed from the port to Bayside to kill time and told to come back no later than 4pm. We come back at 3pm to be safe and wait in a line (if you can call it that) with hundreds of people. We were out there at least 30 min without shade and drenched in sweat. We finally get back on a bus around 3:30 and we stayed parked there without an explanation for over 60 minutes. Other busses full of passengers drove by, uncertain if they are at the port or in another spot not moving.

Finally got off bus just to wait outside for another hour in the heat. Someone passed out behind us and was given CPR. Very scary. Happy to see she was ok after all that.

Got sign n sail card at 6pm. In another huge line after that.

Got on the ship around 7. Missed muster drill bc we weren't on the ship and no word about a make up one.

Didn't receive a notice about itinerary change to Freeport until we heard announcement on speaker later that night. No time to research or plan anything at that port so we booked a snorkeling excursion with ship.

Woke up extra early to get ready for excursion. After we get ready we received a notice the excursion was canceled. I wish we would have found out sooner so we could have enjoyed a relaxing morning and slept in. Tried to make the best of the day and sat by the pool all morning. Not very relaxing with the constant clanking of machinery at the port.

Our day in Nassau was good. Thankful storm Erika dissipated and we had one good day.

The staff on the ship was great. Especially Domingo and Diog in the starlight dining room and our room attendant Inyoman for room 3011. Food in main dining room for dinner was very good (desserts just ok). Lunch at windjammer was very good (breakfast just ok).

Noticed a lot of cracked windows on deck 4 in the main areas. The pool deck was VERY slippery. I almost took a couple bad falls.

  5. So our shuttle driver just informed us that the previous passengers have not been let off and there is a water bacteria. Not sure if this is what the scheduled maintenance is for or something new. He said we should expect an even later boarding time. There is a shopping mall area with restaurants near the port, so we plan to grab lunch and kill time there if needed. It's 1:20 now

  6. We are flying into FLL the day before our cruise (at the end of August) and decided to try the water taxi. What is your favorite place to eat and fun things to do? We like to eat just about anything and I love seafood. We are staying at Pier 66 which I hear no longer has a water taxi stop. Is it best to get on at Hilton Marina?

    Thanks!

  7. It's a classic older property that you snagged for a good price. The only problem is that it really isn't on the beach. It is however, on the water taxi route and hopefully the stop which is right at the property will be re-opened when you stay there.

Yep, that's what I've read. Still looks like a wonderful place for a one night stay and a good location. My husband and I aren't picky :) Can't beat the price!
