Seems like the only way to use reward points for excursions will be to save them for your next cruise, charge the excursions to your Princess Visa, and redeem the points to pay the balance.
-
If that policy becomes fleet-wide, and we are no longer able to use OBC to pay for excursions, I will completely stop doing Princess excursions and switch to all private excursions.
I really hate to think that Princess is getting so money-grubbing as to resort to this, so I hope this pre-pay policy won't fly.
x2.

Thanks for the responses–will stay tuned for further developments. Plan B is to make a beeline to the Spa after boarding on 2/15.

We'll be sailing on the Crown from Valparaiso on 15 Feb 17. Anyone know on which sea days to expect the three formal nights? DW will want to make Spa appointments accordingly.

It goes well with crow;)

Prepaying with Princess Rewards Visa would earn double points which could be converted to OBC. Just a thought.
-
We weren't aware it was our 13th cruise, whichever one it was.

The New Zealand Army Band stole the show when we attended several years ago. It was our good fortune to have a cool, dry evening, but I think we would have enjoyed the spectacle in any weather.

For the benefit of us Brits - what's an IRA?:o
Individual Retirement Account. Interest and earnings are not taxed until withdrawn.
-
Ok but the excursions are refundable up to 72 hours in advance, so as a newbie nonstatus passenger who obviously would have no OBC ...there doesn't seem much incentive for me not to prepay. Right?

If you pay in advance with a Princess Visa rewards card, you'll get double points that can be redeemed for OBC on your cruise. Just a thought.

Hello,What the Hell is " chowing down "
Rodger.
Eating with great gusto.

We were on the same cruise, our first with Cunard. As frequent Princess cruisers, we were quite pleased with the overall QE experience. However, it was a bit startling to see a gentleman decked out in shorts, tank top, and flip flops "chowing down" in the Lido buffet well past 1830 one evening.:(

I know Asa Hartz is going to enjoy the cruise as he/she sounds a good fun person..
Aw shucks, mam;) Thanks for the update and good wishes.

If there is a woman traveling with you, the dress for formal nights does not have to be ball gown formal. Woman can wear fancy tops with long skirts that can be worn with multiple tops. The skirts can also be worn mix and match on semiformal nights. Helps with the packing. Fancy cocktail dresses also usually work. For more information on dress code, there are many threads on the topic....
The dress code is for dinner and evening. During the day, just dress neatly.
Thanks for the input. I know DW will find it reassuring.:)

Since most airlines have a limit of 50 lbs. (23 kg) per bag, I should think that Cunard is quite used to dealing with bags of that weight.
-
Wow. Didn't mean to start a food fight with my first post, but glad it ended well.

Thanks for all the helpful and good-natured responses. We are genuinely looking forward to our first Cunard cruise, with four (4) formal nights!:)

On my last Princess cruise 2012 formal night was a joke.
That was me in the green tuxedo.;)

Hello:
As long-time Princess cruisers, we decided to try Cunard for a change, and are booked on the QE to the eastern Med, 7-21 Oct. In preparation, I've been watching Downton Abbey reruns, brushing up on my bow-tying skills, and practicing to pronounce words like "shedule," "lift" and "clark." Is there anything else we should know? Must we always look right when exiting our cabin?
"Onboard Coupon Booklets"??

We've found them invaluable for wedging squeaking wall and ceiling panels in rough weather.
