  1. Just got off the breakaway yesterday I was able to get anything I wanted including pina coladas in the casino my sister on the other hand asked for something and they wanted to charge her I think it depends on your server it's all random. A server also wanted to charge a friend of mine for coffee they have no clue what they're doing and by the way I'm only lucky

  2. It's so nice of you to ask.

Maybe a silly question, but will there be a "Bermuda" talk in the theater before arrival? We are still not sure what we should do and we will be on this same cruise June 14. We have been to Hamilton and Horseshoe beach already... thinking of Catamaran sailing/snorkeling and maybe St. George and Crystal Caves. Any advice/info/feedback on what to do would be helpful. Was it doable to just book excursions at the pier?

Someone already asked about the transportation passes, is the price the same on the ship as at King's Wharf?

Do shows need to be booked in advance?

How bad is the "no bringing food back to room" situation?

    Any other tips :-)!

Have a great time!!!! Hope you have wonderful weather and smooth sailing!!!

Thank you I will see what I can find out. This is my first trip to Bermuda so I am pretty clueless about things there I guess I will find out. I have been on the breakaway twice before and I love the ship so hoping for a great cruise

  3. Ugh, is there excessive smoking at the bar in Vibe? Is it like the casino? I will not pay extra, and be bothered by smoke. It is just not fair! Get with it NCL, go with the majority of people, and ban smoking for good.

    Bella

    Hooray someone complaining about smoking

  4. So, if NCL charges you $14.25 for a pizza and no service charge, you will be happy?

The price of the food is included on a cruise unless it's a specialty restaurant which the room service items are clearly not. It is a service charge for the delivery as the poster stated you're incorrect with your statement

  5. I ordered a pizza for dinner tonight. The delivery charge was $1. That's a reasonable fee for a guy to get in his car and drive approximately 2.3 miles to my house to deliver my order, then drive another 2.3 miles back to the restaurant. I cannot possibly imagine why I should have to pay EIGHT TIMES that amount for a guy to walk down a hallway and back.

    That's a great point

  6. My impression is that most of the angry posters are people who take food from the buffet back to their rooms. Certainly some people do room service and are angry about the charge but the majority seem to be angry about the "no takeout" rule.

I have never taken a doggy bag or a plate to my cabin from either a main dining room a specialty restaurant or the buffet however what NCL did is what makes me and a lot of posters upset with them. We booked our cruises and they changed what was included and without notice. I normally just get coffee as room service may be a couple of times I've got a sandwich which wasn't all that great so that's something I won't miss I will still get the coffee because that doesn't have the $7.95 charge attached to it. I have said from the very beginning the way and NCL went about this was all wrong

  7. I was told you can get the cheap liquors with one mix. You can't have anything frozen or with more than one mix or juice. I had to pay extra for pina colada, midori colada, mudslide and raspberry cosmo. I did get water for free! About 1 1/2 years ago, on the breakaway, I wasn't charged for anything. Things change.

Me to on breakaway March 2014 could get whatever I wantef no questions asked. This past November was a different story. I'll see what the new story is on Sunday.

  8. With the basic drink card we got:

    Frozen margarita

    Pina Colada

    Strawberry Daiquiri

    Banana Daiquiri

    Mojitos

    House Red/White

    Red/White Sangrias

    Bottled Water

    Energy Drinks

We did tip the servers very well but never did get any premium alcohol. One time they ran out of pina colada so the server gave me a mudslide without charging me extra.

Could not get pina coladas last time on breakaway. They never even said ok but you will have to pay the difference. Will be interested to see Sunday

  9. I will be on the breakaway this Sunday and will be getting a CAS drink card I will definitely check out and see what I am able get. From what I hear if you tip the server of five or ten in the beginning they won't be charging you. I will give it a shot and report back

  10. Actually, that is not true. We are just off the Breakaway this past Sunday, and there were plenty of people smoking at the bar in Vibe.

    Have a great trip, OP!

Thank you for giving me an honest answer the poster above you figured he would lie with his response

  11. If you are on a cruise ship and they invoke a rule for safety reasons no one would be complaining. In fact most would be applauding. However, since this was not a move made for the passengers safety let's stay within context on the discussion.

Again, when a cruise line adds a for profit rule and we know for a fact it is for profit, because the THE COO aka FDR for told of these events in February early March . based on what has came from the horses mouth, we can draw a reasonable conclusion that this rule was designed to generate more revenue.Prior to the new rules, we could get orders to go. It was encouraged by the staff. Now all of a sudden NCL is concerned about the cleanliness of the ship on the halls only. But they don't give a damn about it around the pool area, where there are constant plates, cups trays that stay piled up there most of the day? What? Pool trash don't matter?

I would rather you own it (greed) and say what it is. You want to more people to pay the 8 plus bucks in room service. Instead of trying to insult my intelligence with some BS corporate spin. Thinking I'm going to fall for it.

No, if I'm on a ship( which I paid my money to be their, was advertised certain services prior to me boarding and expected to receive said services) in the middle of the ocean and they give me a rule for non safety related , out of the blue, designed to increase their profits, a Carte Blanche pass will not be given..You sound crazy as hail again if you think I'm going do as I'm told without question. It's my right as the paying customer to question and refuse (again not talking about my safety)

But by all means you do you. That is what is called free will.

    Amen. My thoughts exactly

  12. Come on Punkincc, there is a big difference between a hotel hallway and a cruise ship hallway and that is the size of it. It is difficult enough to get two people passing in the hallway, but add to it dishes and it becomes even smaller. I've seen dishes in the hallways in the morning, in the afternoon and while I'm on my way down to dinner.

I don't know about you, but when I take pictures of my vacations, I don't take pictures of dirty dishes nor do I take pictures of peeling paint or cracking tiles, I take pictures of things I actually want my friends to see.

As someone said on another thread, if one hasn't seen dishes in the hallway they are very lucky, so one should draw their own conclusions based off that comment as well. Why NCL made the policy, who knows, but when we talk about plates in the hallways, that does happen. Whether you believe it or not, that is up to you.

Can't say I have ever seen any dishes on any cruise that I have been on I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I have been on 8 cruises and really never seen any and if there were any obviously it didn't bother me so it wasn't much. I do believe there is a lot of exaggerating going on reading these threads why he hasnt anybody posted complaining about mounds dirty dishes with all of the complaints that go on around here why has this not been brought up previously. Seems kind of weird to me and you know as well as I know that people like to complain around here I would imagine this would have been said before

  13. First let me say I did do a search for the answer to this question but the only threads I found are from back in 2013. Also please don't turn this into a debate I am just looking for an answer to a question.

Is smoking allowed at the bar in vibe on breakaway?

It's really sad that I needed to defend myself before I even asked a question but I have been reading the boards and see how these kind of questions can get all bent out of shape

    Thank you in advance

  14. Please forget any negativity you may have read from the naysayers regarding the Beautiful Breakaway. I just disembarked from this beauty and have nothing but positives to say about this ship. The crew are extremely friendly and helpful. The ship is very user friendly for a ship of this size. Norwegian put a lot of thought into this ship and it shows. The Glow Party, shows, my favorite, Rock of Ages and fireworks are all amazing. Many options to choose for dining and snacks such as Carlos Bakery. Also, we took many plates of food back to the cabin at various times, from various locations and were never even given a frown. I know there has been recent scrutiny regarding this subject. As far as people indicating that NCL nickels and dimes, we were never approached to purchase anything. Again, options are there for your choosing, however, there is no pressure to purchase anything. Any questions, please fire away!!!

Great to hear. Boarding the BA next week for the 3rd time. Love it.

  15. I can certainly SEE why people would interpret it the way that you do, but you're not going to gain traction with it and trying to get what you believe it says is just going to result in an argument with guest services.

Someone returned from a cruise and reported exactly what I said would happen, happening.

If this were the policy (order a drink) wouldn't everyone just order a bottle of water and then order food and have the convenience fee removed? Wouldn't that be widely reported on here as "the way" to do it?

Really, I admire people parsing the language to look for an advantage, but it just isn't there.

I will give it a try next week on my cruise and see how it goes
