  1. We’re currently on our 2nd Celebrity cruise. On our first cruise, an ABC cruise in Jan 2022, service was exceptional. The ship was very empty, as it was just after cruising restarted. Meals were very good both in Blu and at the Buffet.

I’m wondering if our current Alaska cruise is more “Normal” celebrity, or an exception. 3 times this week we’ve been given a pager at Blu and told the wait was 30-45 minutes. The buffet is not staffed for dinner hours (ie: only the back mexican / pizza /pasta is open for dinner, and serving the same items that they do for lunch).  We attempted to make reservations for Tuscan grille to try it out, but the earliest available seatings all week were at 8pm. The maitre D said to us that there are 280 aqua class guests booked and only seating for 80 in blu, which seems to be the crux of the problem.

Can anyone comment about whether we just got  “wowed” on our first cruise, or if celebrity has made big changes since January?….   Trying to decide if aqua is at all worth it for future cruises.

  2. On Constellation now with positive Covid cases that are in quarantine on the ship and we haven’t been turned away from Curaçao or Bonaire so far.  Had lovely days there. Aruba is scheduled for tomorrow, so I can’t speak for that. We have had a few of our shore excursions cancelled for various reasons by the tour operator, and had to rebook other options via SE desk. For this reason, I wouldn’t get your heart set on any particular excursion.

  3. on Constellation now, and the stream internet package is quite spotty. You may be able to log into a zoom meeting to "attend" but I would question whether you could reliably participate. Much of this may depend on how many people are using net on your cruise, and, if in port, how many are off the ship and therefore not using.

Also, I have an apple phone and it does not let you use it as a wifi hotspot if the internet is coming from wifi, only from cellular.

You could simply log out of your phone internet connection and log into the internet with your laptop (the device isn't tagged specifically, the rule is just one device connected at a time).

Yes we had masks and hand sanitizer in our room. The crew is very helpful and we are having a great time. I work in elective surgery which is shutting down at my hospital and my coworkers are being floated to the covid floors. I would stay on for the next cruise if I could.
    I feel much safer here.

Agreed. Although at 743 passengers, That is what, 30% capacity? I’m not sure if I’d feel quite as comfortable if we were at full capacity and I had to share the Sauna with strangers 🙂

  5. On Constellation currently. Mask wearing is supposed to be mandatory.  I noticed today that it's not being strictly enforced everywhere, and people tend to not wear them when they've got a drink in front of them. We we given a paper notice upon boarding. The crew are pretty much all wearing kn95 masks. I'm not sure the passenger count, but the things we've gone to so far haven't been crowded.

  6. I just booked this cruise yesterday! I probably wouldn’t have booked if I knew there would only be 3 ports for an 11 day cruise. Hope they do something to make up for it. …Or they can find another port.

  7. Hi Everyone,

I was reading the celebrity faq and it is a bit confusing due to the wording they use. Maybe someone else has run into the same situation.

I was scheduled for a 2/1cruise to Asia on Millenium, which we cancelled the day before departure and received 100% FCC. This was the first cruise that celebrity allowed cancellation on due to covid but before they created any official programs. I applied the FCC to the final payment on my 8/17 Greece Cruise on Constellation, which is now cancelled.

I called my big box TA yesterday and they weren't sure whether I'd be eligible to get my money back, FCC, or 125% FCC.

Has anyone run into this situation yet?

    Thanks!

  8. As a cruiser who was supposed to sail on the 2/1 millennium, I have to say that I agree with OP that celebrity waited way too long to offer refunds. The airlines started offering  refunds/changes for itineraries including Hong Kong as of Sunday.  Celebrity waited until 6pm EST Thursday (which was already Friday in Singapore) to send me an email saying that I could cancel my Saturday sailing for FCC. My travel agent was closed for the day and couldn’t address it until Friday, which was sail date in Singapore. I understand that there are a number of things that need to be addressed w/r/t port changes, but they could’ve offered refunds sooner, and I really question whether they waited so that most people would already be on their 30 hour flights and wouldn’t back out. They could’ve Triaged the situation and worked out the new port list separately from offering refunds.

As another point, if an airline, whose job is to sell you transportation, cannot get you to your ticketed destination, they are by law required to offer you a refund. Why are cruise lines different?

  9. On the Dawn now. We took on fuel in Portland. Before we left Portland, Capt announced that they’d be cancelling  Newport Stop due to rough seas preventing tender. NCL was nice enough to replace it with an unscheduled Boston port day yesterday. Because of the last minute add, there weren’t any ship-arranged tours available to schedule, but we still had a wonderful day there with some of the best weather of the cruise.

After leaving last night, seas got a bit rough and ship turned and headed north, where we have been sitting all day next to the RSSC ship in a protected bay. Seas have  been alright here, though quite windy and outdoor decks are closed. They picked a spot with good cell service.

The biggest thing to note so far is that they have run out of English muffins, and had to attempt homemade ones.

Capt let us know that because of weather we’ll end up missing our First day In NYC tomorrow but expect to be in tomorrow night.  :-(. Glad I didn’t buy those Broadway tix for Friday night in advance.
