Well I hope we will not need to move this cruise because we really want to try Empress. We even scored one of the larger OV rooms with 2 windows but with the uncertainty around the resumption of cruising and travel issues  from Canada and all the talk about RC getting rid of Empress it seems like a real possibility that we won't be going on this cruise. I know the L&S rules state same cruise length but if we are giving up a day it would seem reasonable that they would allow us to move to a 7 day cruise but who knows. Rules are rules.

Where did you read all the talk about RC getting rid of Empress? 😒 I finally found my 'perfect' Bermuda sailing, and the reason is because of the smaller ship.  I'm supposed to sail in July and will likely have to L & S to next year.  Is she still gonna be around?

This is a good thread... I'm curious if anyone had book a studio balcony (very few of these), and couldn't use the lift and shift due to all rooms being booked. I asked my agent I'm working with about this, and she wasn't sure what would happen saying she just thinks that they would give you a better room if that room is taken (I doubt this).

This is my Q as well.  I'm booked in a studio OV and have already checked all qualifying sailings next year and no studio OV cabins remain.  If I end up doing the Lift & Shift I'll see what they say... I'm willing to pay the difference for a regular OV.

The staff at the beach bar will call you a cab or you can use Hitch to call one though the app if you don't want to use the bus to get back.

Thank You!!  I might opt for a taxi because I could go straight to the ship 😉

  4. Great info, Charles!  I'm trying to plan so I don't overdo it in the July weather.  I can see the bus stop by the entrance to the resort on maps.  That may be exactly what I do.  I plan to start out at Warwick/Jobson's Cove (walk down the road then driveway from that bus stop at Camp St.), then leisurely do the hike toward Horseshoe, spend a good amount of time at Horseshoe with lounger, then walk or golf cart it up the hill to the Horseshoe stop, bus it over to Elbow, then bus or taxi it back from Elbow.  I gotta see these beaches!

    Thank you!! 🙂

  5. Hi it's me again.  I think I may've figured out my best itinerary.  I would take the bus to Elbow Beach and then call a taxi to take me back to Hamilton.  I just can't find anywhere on maps or el internet where the heck the bus would drop one off.  There are no bus stops and it doesn't look safe to walk along the roadway in that area. SOS

  6. I have an Elbow Beach question.  I will be in Hamilton on RC Empress in July.  I am traveling solo.  I've already mapped out the bus stops for Horseshoe and Warwick Long Bay, and I may just hike the path between the two. Very excited.

I also would like to go to Elbow Beach (would have to be the same day) but I can't tell on Google maps where the EB bus stop is.  2 questions:  1) Is the bus stop right at the curve in the road, where Tribe Road intersects?   2) If I were to take a taxi to Elbow Beach, would the driver be able to drop me off and pick me up at the end of Tribe Road, to spare my aging body that long walk at the end of a tiring day?

Thank you to anyone who could answer this! 🙂

Yeah, Royal can be shady with their wording. Sorry they swindled you.

Wish they would allow user reviews for excursions and cruise planner purchases. That would eliminate pretty much any questions anybody would have.

Carnival has GREAT reviews on their excursions.  I can sometimes find the same excursion at the Carnival website, complete with A LOT of reviews, when deciding whether to do one on a Royal C cruise 😉

  8. Cozumel relies very heavily on their cruise visitors. I am skittish about going off on my own, especially when I travel alone. I actually feel comfortable getting a taxi by myself when in Cozumel. Chankanaab is right there by the cruise port in the middle of the action. I agree y'all should do this on your own. And taxis will be lined up at C. to take you back to the ship as well.

I plan to go the Chankanaab the next time I'm in Cozumel. I also don't like to see animals 'misused' for our entertainment but some of these facilities are engaged in research and conservation. I don't know about C. but at two other dolphin/sea lion facilities I've been to, the animals did not seem misused or abused at all, were in large freshwater pools (one of which opened up to the sea) and the animals seemed quite content.. in my human opinion. :)

  9. My sister-in-law needs a scooter for our cruise October 1 because of foot surgery. Should RCCL be contacted or are there companies that I can contact directly for delivery to the ship. Thanks for any help you can give me.

My dad rented a scooter for this November.. we haven't used it yet but I think they are a reputable company.. they deliver directly to your stateroom, so at the pier you will need to ask for wheelchair assistance from RCCL. And yes- contact RCCL and let them know too.

  10.

Thanks Bob- I started to, then when I realized I would have to enter all of my info including my RCCL membership number, I sighed heavily and postponed my efforts.. partly because I just spoke with my father who went through the multiple screens, entering information, then the system froze on him. I may try your sneaky method in the coming days. ;)

  11. I have emailed them and called them a handful of times, over the past few months, to voice my surprise at the ongoing failures of their website. I won't share my response when one of the agents told me that it was the first time she'd ever heard of anything of the sort..

I haven't been able to do online check-in for a couple of weeks now. Don't they really want you to check in online?

  12. All of these photos are making me so excited, especially the brew selections! Wow. Work has been exhausting lately and this is just what I needed on this rainy Sunday morning! :)

I have a question about the availability of college football on the ship.. a new challenge for FreestyleNovice.. do you know what channels will be available? ESPN? Network channels?...

  13. We are looking at booking a mid-ship balcony (BC) for our cruise in January - it's 10184 - does anyone have a pic of the ship that they could point to what the balcony would look like - help pls. Thank you.

That's our cabin # for our Nov cruise! If you haven't booked it by the end of November I will tell you EXACTLY what it looks like:)

  14. I posted this in the other thread, but since y'all asked...

I really want to know more info about the Private Room at Taste. Where is it, what does it look like, is the menu the same as the regular Taste restaurant? And speaking of food, I will be on the Escape with my grandmother on Mother's Day 2016; she wants lobster. I'd love to know where I can get it, and if it's not complimentary, how much will it be?

For those of you going on the regular 7-Day Eastern Caribbean, I realize that Nassau is sort of an abbreviated day. Is it worth it to go to Atlantis or should we focus on Blue Lagoon?

Oh I just can't wait until all the reviews start to pour in! Thanks so much to anyone willing to spend the time to give us info!

The only thing I know to tell you from your inquiries is that the Blue Lagoon is a very nice facility if you want to do dolphin or sea lion encounters. I did the sea lion encounter with my family and it was UNFORGETTABLY WONDERFUL!!

If you are wanting to beach it, their beach is very small but has water toys if you have kids.

I've never been to Atlantis but have done a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and it seems people either love or hate it. If you do the beach excursion, I have heard it is A LOT A LOT of walking. If you want to see the entire grounds, you have to pay to get into the different areas. It's not a general admission place.

I've never been on NCL and know absolutely nothing about the food.

    Hope this helps? :)

  15. Do the green slides look like they are hanging out over the edge of the ship? I wonder how those are going to work?

Those are the free-fall slides :D You stand at the top, then the bottom drops out and it shoots you like a rocket down and around. I'm going to do it at least once. I hope it doesn't squirt me out to sea!!:)

  16. So I'm seeing I can book some dining... and they allow you to book 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 people. We are 7. Why did they skip 7?? haha If I book for 8, that will be OK right? I'm assuming it will for the complementary restaurants, but one night we are doing a specialty. Should I book for 6 or 8? 2 are kids so really it will be 5 paying adults.

That's crazy! You might try calling NCL but I'm not sure what kind of answer you will get:rolleyes:

If not, you probably should book 8 then change it on the ship.

  17. I would be pretty happy if someone had a spreadsheet that lists entertainment, restaurants, spa passes etc. along with their base fee. Then it could expand to indicate upcharges for people with UDPs/SDPs, tips, etc. I wouldn't mind doing something like that but I'm pretty unfamiliar with NCL so I would struggle. Any takers? I'll probably end up doing something like that for myself over time so I can get a handle on where I want to spend my money.

I kind of did something like that for myself.. not really a spreadsheet.. and I don't have any kind of dining package. I started with all the complimentary dining venues then listed 'for fee' venues, including the gelato place (YUM!). Then I made a list of complimentary and 'for fee' entertainment. I also made notes of where certain things were located on the ship. Doesn't take too long, and helps sort of familiarize yourself with the ship.

I also usually do a calendar and put my port times and possible dining times on it.. to help me sort out the best times to book shows.

    Hope that helped? :)
