  1. Just so you know, I sometimes feel seasick (not every cruise) and I have been able to get motion sickness/seasickness medicine (a pill) at guest services without going to the infirmary. I'm not sure if they do this on every trip, but in case someone forgets medicine, they may have it available at guest services.

  2. Nope, aggressive photographers have not been my experience as of recent. You stand in line for any pictures before/after dinner (usually nightly), so there is no photographer asking if you want your picture taken. They usually take pictures by the pool on sea days, out at the beach on a private island, and sometimes in the main dining room, but you can politely decline and they usually just move on to the next person.

The only time I've felt like they were pushy is when you get off the ship and they have someone dressed as a pirate or something and want to take a photo with you. You can just say no thank you and keep walking. They won't chase you down.

This year I found better deals by checking the website several times a day than anything that has been in the GGG flyer.  We live an hour from Port Canaveral and have done several last minute cruises.

The prices had been much higher than we're used to for the last 6 months then all of a sudden around Memorial Day weekend a couple nice ones popped up for June/July.

We can only cruise in the Summer when prices are higher, so my deals are only for Summer pricing out of PC and we don't use balconies so they're for interiors.  Best one I ever found was $599pp for 7-nights on Oasis in 2017.  I actually found it 2 days after we got off a family Oasis cruise so DW and I decided to hop back on 3 weeks later.  This year I had been seeing over $1000pp which is obviously terrible.  Ended up getting $749 for an interior GTY on Harmony for 6/16 which turned into a virtual balcony.  The price was gone by the next day.

At one point I also saw just slightly higher for a July Harmony cruise but the best deal for that one was an OV balcony for only $100 more.  Like the 6/16 cruise, those prices were gone within a day.

Short version... check the website as often as you can.  Prices change during the same sale and even in the same day.  Happy hunting!

What specific websites do you check? Just the RCCL website?

Reservations seem to be required for dinner.  The dinner menu doesn’t change.  The last time I ate there they offered lamb chops and real lobster for a reasonable upcharge.  The offerings are more limited with fewer variations day to day. Children are allowed in the Bistro.  They also offer breakfast.

    Thanks! I appreciate your response.

  5. Recent Anthem cruisers:

RCCL website says the bistro is complimentary. Do you have to make reservations? How is the food? Does the menu change daily or stay the same?

We most likely won’t be going to the MDR because my 2 year old won’t do well in that environment, but it would be nice to have another informal option other than the WJ for lunch and dinner.

    i appreciate your thoughts.

  6. Make sure you have a certified, original birth certificate and not a copy. Also bring a copy of marriage certificate (if you are married) and your current legal name doesn’t match the name on your birth certificate.

Like others have said, you can choose the type of documentation from the drop down menu when you are completing the forms.

Below is an Anthem deck 6 plan I did showing location of all the lifeboat davits, large and small. The two diamonds are the single davits for the small emergency runabouts. Quantum lifeboats are similarly located but have slightly different positions as some side by side davits are further apart. Not sure about Ovation.

We once had cabin 6292 on Anthem and it was very noisy especially at night as it was directly above the service/staircase/elevators area for both Jamie's Italian and Café TWO70.

Least obstructed DO balconies are 6160 and 6560 which are on the forward jump section in front of the first lifeboat davits on either side of Anthem.

We are in 6672, which is right where the arrow is. What does this mean? That our balcony will be very obstructed?

You can only use the 3 free drink vouchers during the nightly DL free drink period, which is most often 5pm to 8:30pm or 4:30pm to 8pm.

You can ask to see the diamond drink menu in lounges throughout the ship during the evening (like 5:30-8pm) and tell the bartender you want to use your free diamond drink. I’ve done this many times; you aren’t limited to only getting free drinks in the diamond lounge.

Anthem has a great gluten free area, all the way to the back of the Windjammer.  Completely separate from other stations.  They do cook to order crepes there at breakfast that are excellent.  The coconut macaroons are delicious.  They will work with you to get what your child needs.

Thanks so much! I am encouraged to hear that. He is also diary-free. Meals should be an adventure 😉

  10. Yes, Kids areas on lot of ships are limited and have been. On Radiance Class ships the kids pool is open as little as 3hrs a day. Example is only 1-4pm the whole day

To me, this is frustrating. As a parent, I am paying full price for my child to enjoy the cruise. The kids pool should be open just as long as the regular pools are. And 1-4 pm is conveniently right during most little ones' nap times. :o

And, I did not know there were kids' pools on the Radiance class ships. I assumed the smaller ships did not have kids' pools. I have cruised a few times on the Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore (near my home) and there is not a kids' or baby pool.

  11. I just wanted to give parents of young cruisers a heads up that Splashaway Bay pools (baby and kids pools) do not open until 10:00 am and close at 6:00 pm on the Adventure of the Seas.

We just came home last week from aboard the Adventure and many kids/parents found the opening and closing times of the kids'/baby pools inconvenient, especially for little ones who wake up early. On port days, these pools open even later (1:00 pm).

    Just a friendly heads-up! :D

  12. My husband and I celebrated our Honeymoon on the Allure and were never given anything complimentary to celebrate our Honeymoon. Everything needed to be purchased (room decoration kit, wine, champagne, etc). I'm a diamond member and this did not surprise me and I didn't expect anything...I knew before going all this would have to be purchased by myself or a family member.

Don't let this start their Honeymoon off negatively; it will be the trip they choose to make it! :D
