OHHHH thank you for bringing this up. I am such a tea "snob" I even bring my own tea with me when I travel.

We are having the guest prepare a printed list of the items he is not allowed to consume. We dropped the ball in not getting this to the team far out in advance of the cruise. Hopefully they will be able to accommodate without too much issue.

I have tiles back from 1990. When did they start giving them away?

Perhaps divide the list into what he can't have eg allergies/intolerances, and what he can have but needs to be careful with eg there the sodium and sugar in absolutely everything we eat so he can have this, just needs to be careful with amount
Unfortunately all the items on his list are restricted by medical necessity. He has a butler so they should be able to assist in this as SWFLAOK says.

Lonedaddy, thank you for screen shot from the website. I must have missed that one with all the others I have been looking at. We are inside the 150 days so hopefully on the ship we can get it taken care of.

My father in law who will be cruising in June has a very long list of dietary restrictions (heart and kidney disease and diabetes) who and when should he talk to be sure his needs are met? He will have a room with a butler.
Some examples of what he can't have:
tomatoes
potatoes
dairy (milk, cream, ice cream, cheese)
sugar
broccoli
carrots
bananas
caffeine
sodium
veggies with potassium
processed meat

Thrilled my favorite of Macallan Quest is on the list.

I second what CWN said about the grocery store. Like the old fashion general store. The 5 gallon buckets of freeze dried soup as you walk in, to the gallon jugs of spices, the hardware next to the guns and ammo next to the yarn and fabric! I am a knitter and love saying "I made this with the yarn I bought in a Greenland grocery store, the yarn was next to the guns and ammo".

And we will be flying domestic for just about the longest domestic route possible. Florida to Alaska. Sad to say our Sunday will be a port day, so no caviar. Hubby won't spring for the upgrade to comfort+.

So from reading the responses I am guessing the amenities list is not a list but a suggestion of perks that may or may not be available. Being a long time cruiser I understand that seas and mechanical issues can affect the ports of call. Everything will be a surprise if we receive it or not.

I am not wanting to dine with the officers. I was tasked with trying to figure out what night father in law might be invited so the rest of the family will not make reservations at a specialty restaurant. Thanks Pcardad for the information.

Thanks, I was just wondering what the "usual" date was. There are 8 of us traveling and I have been delegated to answer everyone's questions since the others have never cruised before.

My question about dinner reservations for the Grand suite, will the person in the grand suite be able to book a table for 8 (the rest of us commoners are in concierge suites) in the specialty restaurants?

There will be a total of 8 of us traveling. Father in law will have a grand suite, the rest of us will have concierge suites. We are trying to get everyone's schedules together so we can decide what restaurants to make dinner reservations. Was wondering if there is "usual" day for the meal with the senior officer. Maybe the second sea day or other? I am guessing that with 8 of us it will be difficult to get specialty restaurant reservations at one table. Would it be easier for the travel agent to make the reservations or husband use the booking number for his Father since he has a grand suite?
Our first time cruising with Regent so I have been appreciating all the helpful hints on this board. -
Daveokc yes it was a free automatic upgrade. I learned my lesson and won’t allow auto upgrades ever again.

I won't take an aft cabin between the ash that fell over everything on the chairs and tables and US when using it to the basketball games done with the deck chairs at 11 pm and 5 am. The crew bounced the chairs around over our heads. I would take an inside room over that room again.

In case anyone is interested, I took pictures of the Prinsendam on its last cruise. I got up at 1 am and wandered around the ship taking as many pictures as I could. I did avoid taking pictures of sleeping staff in the Pinnacle restaurant seat.

If and when our rescheduled Australia cruise were to happen and they apply our deposit, I am sure the price won't be the same and won't include all the "freebies" we had. Since we only have a deposit down and never paid it off, I think we will have to view it as lost funds. Something I won't pay increased rates in order to use the money we deposited.
Will wait and see. I really dislike the larger ships so I don't see myself using the deposit.

I am looking at the Veendam. I don't like the really huge ships.

No we are footing the cost of the cruise and incidentals. That is why we are looking closely at the costs. I can make do with a carry on worth of clothing. Its my knitting that takes up all the room in my suitcase. Hey this girl has different priorities than most.
Personal space, well that is another thing all together. All in lock step with each other so I won't be going off on my own to knit or read. But it is not a trip planned for hubby and me. We just returned from the last Prinsendam cruise which was Norway so this cruise is for her benefit because every time we say Norway "oh its on my bucket list, Gary (her late husband) and I were to go on a Norwegian cruise but he got ill. " So we are trying to do this for her.
I know she would love the Neptune room but in my personal experience, it is overrated and we never used it.
Looking at the price of the pinnacle suites on the cruises next year are out of budget. I guess we could "book" her in an inside cabin and us in a balcony and then just switch once we get on board. That way the single rate in the inside room wouldn't be as bad as a single balcony. I'll research it more to find rooms across the hall.
Thanks for letting me brainstorm here.

Thanks Ruth, it makes sense but sometimes rules don't always make sense.

We are trying to decide if we should try to get three adults (Hubby, his mother and me) into a single room or get her a single. I understand that in a single room that we will pay 1.5 the rate. My question is the hotel charge, do they also have that at 1.5 of the normal rate?
Since we are 4 star mariners, she would be free in our room so we though that we might upsize the room and use some of the rate she would pay for the single.
I am trying to talk him into taking his mother without me so that there would be more room. She would take two large suitcases for a two week cruise to Norway and not leave much closet space. It would get very crowded very quickly plus where to store the wheel chair.

Just got off the ship, we were in one of the last groups to go through it. They blocked off parts of deck 5 and you entered the line in the casino and (two lines, one for US citizens and one for non citizens) turned toward explorers lounge in front of the future cruise desk. Held up our passports and just walked. I never saw anyone pull anyone over. We did not have our hand carry luggage with us, it was in the cabin. After the check we went and got our luggage and walked off the ship to get our larger suitcases. There were some desks set up in the lounge with the officers but they were just sitting there, I think I saw one person getting a passport stamped.

Seward
in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Posted
My question about Seward in different but thought I would place it here. The family (8 of us) is all arriving in Anchorage and the cruise starts in Seward. We've done this trip on another cruise line and we were on the train. Does Regent use the train service or bus? The views from the train were so much nicer than the bus. We tried to book the train but it was sold out. Hopefully by Regent?
