Did you book with ship or outside vendor?

  2. I was able to go to a quilt shop in Skagway and one in Ketchican. I got material at both and the row by row patterns. I didn't have time to go to the one at Juneau.

  3. We did a combo tour through the ship. However, when we were at the glacier, we saw a lot of taxis dropping people off and picking people up. If you want to go to the glacier on your own, I would take a taxi. The walk to the waterfall was mentioned as a 20-30 minute walk one way, so if you are doing that allow 1 hour at least.

  4. We just got back from the Pearl. We did a combination Mendenhall Glacier/Evening Whale watch tour through the ship. It was great. Good local bus driver who gave us a tour and told us a lot of history/stories. Meal for whale watch was catered--delicious! Nice surprise.

We took the shuttle downtown as soon as we got off the ship and had about 1 1//2 hours which was plenty.

  5. We just got back. We did the Yukon tour and train back. We had a fantastic tour guide/bus driver. We ate at Caribou Crossing, went to emerald Lake, stopped at Carcross. We were back by 4:30 and had plenty of time to look around Skagway, go to the stores, etc.

  6. We just got back. Bought the jackets at Tongass Trading. $19.99 for s to xl. $23.99 for xxl, not sure about 3xl and 4xl. Nice jackets. Lots of colors.

    Other stores had similar jackets.

  7. We just got back from our Alaska cruise. People were in shorts, capris, jeans. I wore capris/skorts with sleeveless tops on the ship. Had a light sweater sometimes. Off the ship wore jeans and layers--tshirt, light sweater most of time and light windbreaker one day. Last day was warm, so only tshirt.

It is plenty warm inside the ship. You control your room temperature.

  8. We have 1 1/2 days to do some things in Seattle before our cruise on June 18. We get in about noon on Friday, so have Saturday as well.

Can we walk from our hotel to the waterfront or Pike Market? What about getting to the Space Needle?

Is the CityPass worth getting? Or are there other places that are worth seeing and enjoying?

What about some casual places to eat?

    Thanks for your help.

  9. We are staying at the Best Western Pioneer Square.

What is the best way to get to Pier 66? We were told we can take the bus (?) to Bell street exit and then it is a 3 or 4 block walk to the Pier. Is the building easily accessible from the sidewalk or is there a longer walk just to the building? A friend said we could just walk--not sure if I want to lug luggage that far! Or is it better to get a taxi or Uber? Does Uber raise their rates on cruise days? Are they reliable, timewise (never used one.) What would be an estimated cost?

Also, best way to get back to SEATAC. We will just have backpacks, so may debark as soon as possible and spend an hour or so before heading back. Is light rail doable? Or are we better to take a taxi or shuttle to SEATAC? Our flight is at 1:30 p.m.

What is cost of the shuttle or taxi? Do we need to book a shuttle in advance?
