  1. Interesting. There are three different ferry companies and their internet sites still showed available tickets on two of the three when I posted the note (The third said to call). The dates I checked was for Aug 3 and Aug 4. Now I checked for walk on, no room tickets. But the routes were daytime only. Which companies did you check.

We left on Aug 2nd. The sites were difficult to check and the Internet was quite slow as everyone was trying to do the same thing. We asked Viking about the ferry and they had no information. We were on our own to do all planning, flights, hotels, everything. We watched flight options disappear before our eyes, so we booked that which got us to our destination so that we could eventually get home

  2. Do you have an option of refusing and then making your own plans? There is a very good ferry system from Tallin to Stockholm and from there you can catch a train to just about anywhere is Sweden, Denmark and Norway. It might cost a bit, but you are already there.

I know if I was in your shoes I would decline and make my own plans and catch my original flights.

While your suggestion is great,it is the height of tourism and there was no availability on the ferry. We made our own plans, as we were encouraged to do so on Sat we flew from Tallinn to Helsinki, overnighted, Helsinki to Copengahen 23 hr layover and onto Bergen. Gave the ship our detailed itinerary and when we arrived in Bergen, the land team still didn't have us in their list. The staff is lovely, but Viking should have emergency exit strategies for each port. As a travel agent, I made a suggestion to the staff that Viking should charter flights immediately and be pro active. That is ultimately what they did, but without timely flow of information. Some of us are not retired and have to get back to work on Aug 10th and Viking could not guarantee us that on Sat.
