I have a follow up question- I have a cruise planned for 10/14-10/21 going KW, Nassau & Freeport. If KW is not open, is there any way that we may get a replacement of HMC or would they just sub another sea day? I don't care either way, just curious mostly. As long as Galveston is open, I'm cruising. (I'm totally not trying to be insensitive towards people who have lost literally everything in the Hurricanes)

Hello- We will be on the Freedom Oct 14-21st. We have quite a large party and are wondering about using the Hub App for messaging and meet ups. Are there push notifications when someone sends you a message? Has anyone had any success using the Hub App with a group of 8 people?

We are going to be on this same cruise! So Exciting! Can't wait to try out the Freedom!:)

That is great info, thank you so much! :)

Were the $50 air plus and $100 deviation fees the only fees you had to pay? Or did you have to pay any difference in fare for the additional days? Sorry if this is a personal question, I don't know anyone personally who has done a river cruise so I'm VERY green in this whole process.

My Husband and I are looking to book a Viking River Cruise on the Rhine or Danube within the next couple of years so I've been looking into all the options for free air, etc (I'm a planner) :o. Can anyone comment on the Viking Free/reduced air from DFW? We live in OKC area so DFW is our closest large hub to fly from.
How many connections did you have to Amsterdam/Zurich or Munich/Budapest? Was the flight from DFW super early in the AM? Did you pay extra to change the dates to fly in earlier or out later? Did you think it was worth the extra cost?
Any experience with flying from the Midwest to Europe for Viking River Cruise is greatly appreciated! I've looked at a few fares from OKC to Zurich and one has a connection in Istanbul, which seems a little odd to me(?)

We're staying at the Four Points by Sheraton on the seawall. It doesn't have the greatest reviews, but the price was right and it was one of the only hotels not booked for the night before our cruise a year out :o

Just curious if anyone knows what time the MDR opens up for breakfast on Port days? How late do they stay open?

Hi Everyone!
We're going to Nassau on the Carnival Freedom in October 2017. We have 3 generations spread over 8 people. 6 of us are going Snorkeling in Nassau. We are looking at Blue Hole Water Sports-Can anyone give feedback on their tours? I like that they do a smaller group because 5 of the 6 people have never been snorkeling.
Any feedback-Pros/Cons would be greatly appreciated!

We're going to Deadman's Reef at Freeport, it looks fun and pretty laid back.

Don't stress out too much! and also... you don't need to pack everything you own. less is more. :D

We are definitely not Platinum and didn't spring for FTTF. I guess we'll just take our chances with Self Assist. Thank you for your response! :)

Hello- We are slated to go on the Freedom in October and I am questioning whether we want self assist or not. Here is my dilemma- we were previously on the Dream out of NOLA for a Thanksgiving cruise, our cabin was on the 1st floor and we used the standard disembarkation process. We waited HOURS for our number to be called and it got called dead last.
For our cruise on the Freedom we will be on the 11th (spa) deck. Is there a standard number calling system that is used? Higher floors get off first and then down to the bottom? or is it randomized?
What we are trying to avoid is, obviously, sitting for hours waiting again if we do the regular disembarkation waiting for our number to be called. Or risking lugging tons of luggage down stairs if we do self assist.
Can anyone clarify this for me?

If my OK in-laws had this sense of humor, I'd actually look for reasons to go to OK more often!
Most of us are OK!

We're still about 250 days out from our next cruise and haven't been able to pick the check in time yet, either.

I'm not sure about Ocho Rios, but in Grand Cayman you can find an excursion to see the stingrays for his age. I found one that allowed my 3 year old to go... it was called Moby Dick tours.

I'm looking forward to this review! I like your writing style, it seems more fun than "just got back from the freedom, it was good... the end". Excited to see what you say, we will be aboard the freedom in 219 days, 4 hours, and 32 minutes... but who's counting?!

We'll be bringing Via's on our next cruise. I would hate for my poor mother to go without decent coffee again for a week :)

It looks like you guys are cruising right in the heart of Spring Break season here in the good ol' US of A. If you will price cruises that happen after school goes back in session: Sept- May (minus spring break and holidays), you will probably see really reasonable fares.

Talk to your room steward on embarking... they can open it. Tips go a long way in this situation!
Ah, I had read that you could contact someone to advise of your request to open the partition prior to sailing since there are only so many partitions they can stow.
-
Question: How do you request that the partition be removed PRIOR to sailing? Do you need to email someone or go through the TA?

We have spa balconies on an upcoming Freedom cruise and I have been told that the spa is not a cloud 9 spa like on the Dream and we will have access to the sauna, locker room/showers, spa/pool in the spa area, and the like. The massages and whatnot would still be for a price.
-
We'll be on that cruise too! The October 14th one :)
We still haven't been able to pick a check in time, so I'm also anxiously awaiting it :)
