  1. Greetings, Is there any tours that could take 3 of us from Carnival Magic, to Caracol Mayan site in the Cayo District and back, in time?

    March 7th 2017, Tuesday 8-5 (tendered)

We've already been to Lamani, Xunantunich, Altun Ha & Cahal Pech. Would love to see Caracol.

  2. We did Victor Bodden tour and went to Blue Arbor Tropical Arborotum and it was a neat learning experience with an education on different plants. Also did the monkey and iguana farm, went to the beach, and went on a mangrove boat tour. These were done on different trips. We would take little boxes of fruit loops and the monkeys loved it. The iguanas ate large leafs. All the animals were well taken care of and seemed to enjoy people interaction. Your kids would probably love it and makes for great photos that they will always remember. I had a blast myself and love the way the monkeys felt when they sat on my shoulder. Most were in large cages that you walk into and you have a private guide that takes you around.

  3. We were strolling around the port in Coxen Hole and stumbled across a second floor shop, with a wooden entry door, that had the most unbelievable and gorgeous carved Trunks and chests in all sizes. I couldn't resist and got a 30" big one. In case your considering one, and plan to take it back on the ship, bring a luggage cart on wheels to help get it off the ship when you disembark. I will cherish this heirloom piece work of art as long as I live.

  4. I looked at every shop in the port in March 2015, and they only had crap vanilla. Go here: http://www.vanilla.mx/products.html.

I bought it in Cozumel for $6.00 for 16.6 oz about 4 years ago. I'm told the prices went up for it and that it why the shops at port don't carry it no more. They would have to mark it up high to make a profit. Amazon sells it for $17.75... So its a deal to go direct to the mexican home site and buy it there in US dollars for $10.50 for 16.6 oz.

    It's really good vanilla.

  5. I've been to Xel-Ha and Xcaret. Both are really neat. Xel-Ha has a giant lagoon area where the salt and fresh water meet and people snorkle there.

I prefered Xcaret because of the animals, swimming in the under ground rivers, the stained glass above the river, the birds hatching before your eyes. The place was awesome.

  6. We've been 3 times with Victor Bodden tours and you have to walk outside the port, up a hill and all the taxi drivers are there. You just tell them your looking for Victor Bodden tours and everyone seems to know everyone else, and they will point you to the right car. They can drop you back off INSIDE the port once your tour is finished, but you have to leave and start the day from outside the port.

  7. One more thing, if you have 100 shares or more of Carnival stock, on a 7 day cruise, you get $100 in on board credit (with proof of shares). That goes for every cruise line under the Carnival brand, which includes Holland America.

  8. I've done Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Holland America (Neptune Suite). Holland is definitely my favorite. Yes, an older crowd. I'm 45 yrs old. At least they are not in your face taking pictures and trying to sell a drink 24/7. It was much more laid back and relaxing.

  9. There was a new airport opened by Copan Mayan Ruins earlier this year. Anyone know if there are any cruise/plane excursions to there, via private or if any of the cruise lines offering shore excursions there. We already did a cruise/plan trip to Tikal from Guatemala on Holland America. I would love to see the cruise lines offer a excursion to Copan.

  10. We went March 2014 from Guatemala on Holland America cruise. It was a 20 seat twin engine turboprop. If you can board the plane first and sit all the way in the back, there is a seat that goes all the way across the back of the plane, but it has no window. I still have the photo of the plane and the actual plane is painted http://www.tag.com.gt. The front of the cabin safety instructions states Bandeirante EMB 110. When I Googled it, it comes up with "The Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante." You can Google the photos. We had an awesome trip to Tikal that was worth every penny. The ruins are awesome. We climbed so many things my legs hurt for days. My husband is 6'2" and almost 300lbs and he was fine.

  11. About 2 years ago we were going to the Bahamas for Thanksgiving. We found out the Segway tour we booked was held up the day before at gun point. I found that out from http://www.cruiselawnews.com/.

When we boarded the ship we went directly to the shore excursions desk and asked if our Segway tour was still going to happen, because we found out on line that it was held up at gun point. The shore excursions desk didn't have any knowledge of it, or failed to act like they knew about it. Later that afternoon, we received a letter/notice in our room that the excursion was cancelled. I suggest reading the local papers that Cruise Law News mentions: http://www.tribune242.com/ & http://www.thenassauguardian.com/. On a personal note, I will never book another cruise to the Bahamas. I prefer Mexico (ferry to mainland from Cozumel), Honduras (Roatan) & Grand Cayman. We've been to those locations several times, they have a lot more tour options and the people seem happy you came to visit their country as it gives them tourism jobs.
