  1. As a matter of interest, how did P and O initially deal with your problem? And how will you be able to prove that you are not liable.

Was it a computer glitch that someone else's cruise card was linked to your account? Bit worrying :(

I rang them saying that unauthorised charges had been made to my account, they said someone would respond within 72 hrs. Someone rang me 36 hrs later, they had retrieved my account. I itemised the day & time of the 11 charges, she said she would contact the ship to query this. She rang back next day, apologised said waiter had charged another cabin to my account for the duration. Refund given. Interestingly she gave me the cabin no that should have been charged, advising that they have added the sum to their onboard account. Probably one passenger who thought they had got away with being undercharged.

  2. You have to go to the designated muster station, mind you in an emergency I can't see how anything other than chaos would ensue. As long as you know where the muster station is, all the info is on the TV in your cabin. My experience of musters is fairly useless.

  3. Seems like it's happening a lot on P&O and after what I read in the Daily Mail about Oceana and Oriana today they've got a cheek to blame the passengers all the time

Thing is, it is the passengers fault for 99% of the time.

  4. Went on Oriana over 10 years ago and loved it, went back 5 yrs later and were very disappointed. Having been on Britannia last year the improvement in cabin design, menu & food and the ship itself means that we no longer book the older ships. Don't like the adult only ships either, too many old people, and not just in years but outlook. However I'm sure many will disagree with my views.

  5. Don't panic about formal nights, the days of everyone wearing an 'over the top' evening gown are long gone, all you need is a smart outfit, which can be a dress or trousers. As long as you are smartly dressed and feel smartly dressed that will be sufficient. You can of course dress as over the top as you like, but it's not mandatory.

  6. Used the Grand Harbour a number of times, now going downhill quickly. Poor value, hotel has been taken over recently, new owners have little money to spend and service standards etc reflect this. Look on trip advisor and see all the negative comments

  7. When we sailed on Azura in a delux balcony cabin we had robes, slippers, chocolates and we received canapés twice during our 15 nights onboard, I believe that you would probably receive the same on Brittania, enjoy.:)

Canapes are usually only provided in a suite, on Britannia in a deluxe balcony, we did not get robes, slippers or chocolates, you do get a dish of mints, although we did get slippers via our club points. On some ships with baths in cabins robes used to be provided, I guess the cost saving measures are kicking in [emoji29]

  8. Your last statement says more about the ill mannered people and rude people that use P&O rather than a criticism of Britannia. I am convinced that in time those reviews figures will rise there was just as many poor reviews about Arcadia, Ventura (especially) and Azura in their maiden cruise season and we really enjoyed Britannia on the maiden cruise and heard very few "moans" and those that did I think just love to moan which P&O seem to attract more than any other cruise line.

Agreed, P&O do seem to attract the vocal moaners, I could not believe some of the comments I read, before and after I spent two weeks on her. I do believe that she is the best ship in the fleet and was so pleased with her, we booked for next year. No ship is perfect, and all ships have to compromise somewhere, people should just accept that and enjoy their holiday.

  9. They are other people's opinions, just as valid as yours. You are entitled to disagree but it doesnt make other's views dross.

Britannia is currently at just 47% in the review section on this site, from 166 reviews. This compares to 88% for Celebrity Eclipse. Thats some difference in satisfaction levels.

After spending two wonderful weeks on Britannia and hearing on various forums people criticise fairly petty things like the lack of central staircases and a deck 7 promenade, and balance that against the ship as a whole, then in my opinion those views are dross, sorry.

  10. Can't believe the dross that some people are saying, Britannia is a beautiful ship, the best in P&O fleet in my opinion, and with exception of Azura have been on them all. Anyone who complains about the lack of a staircase in the middle of the ship is a numpty, I did not miss this, never waited long for a lift and found my way around without a problem. Some people mention the lack of a promenade deck, it took me 10 days to notice there wasn't one on deck 7, but there is a smaller one on deck 15 or 16, I forget which, but I go on holiday to enjoy myself, not go on a march. Food was excellent, entertainment OK, and although it is big, it does not feel any bigger than say Ventura. All in all, an excellent ship, P&O should ignore the complainers, and tell anyone who does to book another cruise line. Enjoy your holiday, it will be great.

  11. Oriana is a nice ship, but it is feeling its age, we were disappointed on our last cruise with her. Plumbing has issues, smelt a bit in places, food was uninspiring. It does seem to attract an older passenger and someone (unkindly) referred her as a floating care home. Not everyone will agree with these comments but having just returned from Britannia, we will not cruise again on a ship older than Ventura. I personally hate the adult only ships, the family ships are much more fun.

  12. This will be my first p&o cruise have sailed on rccl ncl Msc princess ocean village island cruises Thomson and Costa it's not until October 2016 but I like to pre plan [emoji3] no where I stand

    So have a few questions

1 ) can u bring soft drink onboard ie coke first time sailing from the UK ( where I live ) and think I can save some £

    2) spirits can u bring a bottle os there a corkage fee like other line

    3) what the kids activities like?

    4) is the food good? Pics of menus

And any tips or advise would be great [emoji3][emoji572]️

I took two cases of wine & 18 tonics with me, I used a small Antler case with bubble wrap enclosing cases etc, went with my normal luggage, arrived no problem.

With regard to food, I have been on nearly all P&O ships, Britannia was the best food of all the ships we have been on, so good we did not bother using the speciality restaurants.
