I have read, SOMEWHERE, about the port of calls in Alaska that are boring or too tourist-oriented (same stores, diff port).  We are cruising July 29, 2019 for 14 days and would like to not leave ship if unnecessary.  The excursions are VERY spendy.😎 Thank you

Read more than just one article.  We loved Alaska and would hopefully get to go again.  If you have some time here is the blog my husband did about our trip here on CC. Hope you decide to go.

  2. We did this on our Thanksgiving week cruise. It was sooo much fun!  You have to all work together and listen to what each one comes up. Work as a group!  We finished with 5 min and 4 sec's left!!  It is not easy to do. Not sure if the younger ones would be able to solve as some clues are complicated.  I booked ours through the activity section on the cruise planner.  Got to pick the day and time which made it easy to plan for.  Did ours on a sea day.  Have fun!!  PS... not a geek either! LOL.

  3. Thanks for this review! Do you know about how much your flights were? We have a trip planned for June 2019 from Tampa and the prices for flights right now are very expensive! I'm hoping prices will come down, but I'm not sure what a "good" price is.

    Hi!

We went to Alaska in August of 2017. My husband got a credit card ( I believe it was thru capital one) or it was an Airline one (we flew United) He used it for everything we did. Gas, groceries, bills and would pay it down at end of month. He was able to get enough points that his round trip fare was paid and one way of mine. We flew out of Knoxville since we live in TN but it would have been about $1800 from there for us.

    Just a suggestion.

    Enjoy your cruise!!

  4. Hi there! I sailed on the Radiance in August of 2017 and loved it. although I am partial to the smaller ships. Everything was wonderful. Staff were friendly, food was good and ship was beautiful. We did not do any of the extra food restaurants as that just isn't what we do. Don't listen to the downers. Go with an open mind and enjoy your cruise!! Alaska is absolutely Amazing!!!! Please report back when you return so we know how it went. Happy sailing!

PS.....Hubby did a blog on our trip if you want something to read about Alaska.

  5. Loved your review!! We did Alaska in August of 2017. We to did a land/cruise tour but a little longer on the land part. Did The Dog Gone It tour also and loved it! Thank you for sharing. My husband did a review on our trip as well. Here is the link to his review in case you or anyone going to Alaska would like to check out. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2613346. Thanks again for your review.

  6. Is this still an active thread?I need suggestions for Ft Lauderdale hotels that allow parking while on cruise.

If you do not find a hotel to provide parking use Park and Go. They take you to the port after you drop your vehicle and pick you up after to return to your vehicle. They even gave us a bottle of water for the road! Hehe. Book online and it is less expensive. Have used them numerous times with no problems.

  7. Yes, Toledo Ohio. Not that anything is wrong with Toledo. But it isn't exactly an exotic destination of choice. Nor is Ft. Lauderdale. Ft. Lauderdale is just so painfully generic. It's a decent beach and then "anytown USA".

I get that people here are intimidated by Miami, after all, cruising in general doesn't exactly attract the most adventurous and open minded of travelers. But I LOVED Wolffie89 having the xenophobic response of hating spanish speakers!

I lived in South Florida for years. Miami is a real city with actual culture and history. Ft. Lauderdale is nothing....

I think you and your crappy opinions need to fall in the ocean. What makes you so high and mighty to put individuals down? (cruising in general doesn't exactly attract the most adventurous and open minded of travelers). And by the way just because you feel how you do about Toledo doesn't mean you are right! Born, raised and have many relatives there!
