I always get assistance in New York and never had to fill out any forms. Maybe this is just something done in Southampton.

I have just had to fill out a form for my sister in law as she and my brother are coming on a cruise in October on the QV. She is a part time wheelchair user and when I asked Cunard to link the two bookings for dining etc they asked me to fill out the following

    I hope this helps.

  2. You should contact the airline you are flying with and they will organise assistance for you. I'm not sure about getting you to pick up a hire car but I know the airport staff would take you to a taxi or to meet a driver.

Also Cunard will assist you at Southampton and other ports you will have to fill out a medical/ disability form and email/fax it to them.

  3. Hello

We have twice cruised with Cunard but not for about 3 yrs now. Could anyone tell me what is the policy for bring wine on board for consumption in our room? The last time we went you could bring as much as you liked but I can't seem to find anything on their FAQ pages. Many Thanks

  4. Having just come back from been on the Sapphire Princess I can confirm that the Terrace pool on deck 14 is open to children with an adult. The lap pool at the front of the ship is the only true “Adult” only pool. The other pools midship are too deep for me been a non swimmer lol ! And no the terrace pools do not have signs saying Adult only!

  5. This woman was supposedly employed as an Air Hostess for God's sake.

Don't we all have 'emotional' problems when we've been caught out red handed.

    :evilsmile::evilsmile:

No not all of us have problems but she has and been an Air hostess doesn’t make you above having them.

She’s not killed anyone so get a grip instead of jumping on the “ she needs burning at the stake “ mob!

  6. What does this have to do with man vs woman, seems you need a mirror as it appears you have an agenda or ax to grind? Why go after the posters when it is the individual on the ship that caused the issue.

No no agenda or axe to grind but I just feel that some of the comments mostly made by men are very nasty and negative! As we are now hearing on the news / papers she’s obviously got a lot of emotional problems and in the heat of the moment made a big stupid mistake! So what if the ship was late docking / flights were missed you would all have something to say if the ship hadn’t tried to find her!

  7. I wonder if all you men braying for blood would be doing the same if it was a man who jumped “fell” overboard? We don’t know what or why she did or did not do and what is your problem with it ? So what if the ship was delayed they have a duty to look for them you lot would be up in arms if it was someone close to you and the captain said sorry I can’t look for them I’ve got a timetable to keep too!

Get a grip there are worst things to harp on about!

  9. if someone paid full price for a 12 year old staying in the same cabin as a 3rd or 4th...

    well, that's just poor planning

and I would have said something immediately as the aft Terrace Pool and Outriggers bar are our go to places to get AWAY from kids...

    GET OFF MY LAWN :mad::mad:

    Poor planning can you explain?

  10. That would be true if it was done in the open for others to observe but it's done when others are not around or in your cabin lots of tips are pocketed.

    Absolutely.

That’s a good thing they know . I think it’s disgusting that people even think about removing them but I think it’s high time these cruise lines paid them a decent wage but unfortunately the big wigs just want profits to fund their lifestyle!

  11. A few months ago, in a discussion about 'excellent' scores for cabin stewards, I stated that I didn't give my steward top marks for a variety of reasons. One of which was that he left my nightwear out sometimes. I acknowledged that it was trivial, and that on it's own would not have merited a downgrading. I'm not getting into any discussion about that.

However, many responded by saying that they put their nightwear into the bedside drawer. I am the only one who finds that disgusting? The idea that people find it acceptable to place garments which have been worn into a confined space such as a drawer astounding. Especially as following passengers use the same drawer for make up, or medication or anything really. Anything I have worn is either in the wash basket or left out to air. I would never dream of stuffing worn garments into a drawer.

Am I on my own here?

I for one would not expect my steward to put my clothes away especially any night wear or underwear. I always hang mine up!

  12. It ABSOLUTELY is the cabins steward's responsibility to clean the cabin and make sure that all trash, including diapers and ANY waste, and especially hazardous waste, are disposed of.

Why is there even the teeny tiniest bit of question about that????

    WOW.

Any suggestion that anyone else should be responsible for taking waste and taking it thru the ship to any other location to dispose of it is just mind-boggling.

But don’t you think that the parents should put them in bags and dispose of them in the bin for him to take out and not on the balcony?

  13. I’m a parent and I when my children were in Nappies/diapers would always bring my own disposable bags to put them in . They don’t cost much and at least it makes them more hygienic and masks the smell !! I would then dispose of them in the bin and let’s face it there is always 2 in a cabin ! In my opinion this is a parent problem I wonder what state their house is in !!

I’ve just had a look ! I can’t believe people would sell mini soaps and shampoos! Other stuff like t shirts a mug but bathroom supplies no!

  15. As Coral wrote, the Sapphire was not even listed on the original ***** schedule.

After the Regal the original rollout schedule was as follows:

    • Royal Princess (January 2018)
    • Caribbean Princess (March 2018)
    • Island Princess (May 2018)
    • Golden Princess (November 2018)
    • Crown Princess (November 2018)
    • Ruby Princess (January 2019)

I was notified that the Royal Princess will not have ***** implemented before our May 2019 cruise and it’s been posted that the Caribbean will now be the second ship. You can read more details on the “Ocean Medallion” thread but even the Regal isn’t expected to be fully operational until late 2018.

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2621739

There are many problems with this new shipboard technology which is now estimated to take up to a year for it to be operational on the first ship.

    What is this Ocean Medallion?

  16. The only things I can remember that’s not in your comprehensive information is replacing old worn out upholstery & renovating the youth center.

Maybe the lack of information from the first post-drydock cruise is because they’re having so much fun that they don’t have time to post. :D

    Let’s hope so lol

  17. I respectfully disagree with some of the responses that advise not to ever do an elephant trek. I have rode on elephants in Thailand and Laos but only after researching the outfit to understand how they treat their animals. My understanding is that elephants, much like horses, donkeys, and other larger animals, are able to carry the weight of one or two humans without harm. I think it is all in the way they are treated by their handlers. I would hope, but not assume, that cruise lines would do this research and only contract with reputable tour companies.

You can usually determine how the animals are treated by looking them over. Do they look healthy? Are they well fed? Are they over-worked? Are they given sufficient breaks? Are there vets on site? In Laos, there was an "elephant hospital" on site where they had detailed records of the care, feeding, and work schedule for each elephant. I wouldn't ride an elephant that appeared unhealthy.

I did an elephant trek in a Thai jungle and rode an elephant across a river in Laos. Both were among the most exciting travel experiences I've ever had and wouldn't hesitate to do again.

Just my two cents on the matter....

I think you need to be educated a bit more! Donkeys and horses cannot take the weight of two adults ( I have horses) !

  18. We have just come back from an Asia cruise and did some research before hand and found out that some of the handlers make a cut on the elephant and keep the wound open so they can handle them! Also don’t ride the donkeys up the hill in Santorini either. They are treated terrible and are not built to carry 20stone plus lazy people use the cable cars or a boat!
