Which excursions do you recommend from the Magic? I have young kids 8, 6, & 4

Planning on our first time cruise with the kids- ages 8, 6, 4 on the Carnival Magic in August.

I'm overwhelmed by the options for shore excursions. Any ideas on best ideas for young kids 8, 6, 4? Most of the items on carnival.com show age 8 minimum. Is it better to book in advance or arrange upon arrival?

We're a family of 5 with three young kids (8, 6, 4) and want to do something last minute this summer

1. Any ideas which is a better fit out of Galveston- Carnival or Royal Carrib? Both seem wonderful.

2. Recommendations where to get a good deal at this point? The amount of websites out there promising best deals is overwhelming. The cruise company sites seem pretty good too. Costco too. Where to start?
