I honestly don't think an App would improve the tech, there is nothing in an App that a website cannot provide equally as well.

However the website could certainly be improved, currently it shows restaurants and entertainment as being fully booked, when experience tells us that this is clearly untrue.

I think that this Is definitely a website where AI could create a massive improvement.

I wouldn't necessarily say that, one of the problems is that because it's a website it can't do proper notifications. To see if you've been called in the virtual queue you need to keep the website open, and check it regularly otherwise you'll miss it, If it was a proper app, whether a ported version of the Carnival/Princess app or something else, it'd be able to generate actual notifications on your device. For some reason P&O/Cunard are some of the only Carnival brands that don't have one.

We’ve had the same ongoing problems for G220 booking Epicurean, and Limelight for first two nights. I rang customer services for help and was told both are IT glitches - yet again! - and have been reported. They say to just check daily online. Shame as it just creates added stress when you’re just wanting to have a few things pre-booked, especially being a new ship for us. And we’ve late boarding time so can see the venues we want will already be booked by early embarks using the booking ‘app’. Trying not to let is stress us now with everything else to do with cruise prep, testing etc. What will be, will be!

Thanks! We're still having the problem and can't book for any night at all.

We've not got too late a boarding time, but had a similar time on our staycation cruise last year and by the time we got on everything was fully booked. So hoping it's not a similar experience this time round.

  3. Has anyone had problems pre-booking speciality dining on Iona? We're sailing on G220 and wanted to pre-book the Epicurean. When we first got within the two week window it appeared as available, but when added to the basket changed to coming soon. Then a few days ago it and Sindhu are now enquire on board.

    Is this normal for Iona?

  4. We had a similar problem on Ventura in June. Weather was fine in the morning and as the day went on the sea got rougher. In the end tendering was suspended with about 1000 people left ashore(myself , wife, brother & partner & great aunt included).

We're told that the captain had decided to suspend operations and was relocating to Villefranche. P&O Staff gave us the option of waiting a few hours for coaches or catching the train to Villefranche. So a few hundred of us ended up walking to the station and catching the train(very easy, ticket machine was awkward to use though). In the end we arrived in Villefranche about 45 minutes before Ventura turned up, was an interesting conversation with the cruise terminal staff.

Wasn't a fun experience, but completely weather related with nothing extra P&O could have done. In a moment of humour we all blamed a Viking ship for stealing the berth(can't remember the name, it was on Monaco the same day as us). 🙂

  5. Evening All,

Does anyone know what the current pricing is the the Retreat on Ventura for whole cruise passes? We're on N914 on the 2nd June and are debating whether to get a pass or not.

We've used the Retreat on Britannia previously and really enjoyed it.

    Thanks,

We are getting married on p&o Ventura on the 4th June 19 as well .

We so can't wait and can't wait till the paper work is in so we can finalise loads of the wedding .

Good luck on your wedding too Chris

Congratulations!  What a coincidence, looks like we're on the same cruise(N914).

Our wedding is the 6th June, on the sea day between Cadiz & Barcelona. As we think it's likely to be a formal night on that day, we're having a light lunch in the MDR rather the special menu. I've also managed to persuade the bride to be that we don't need as three tier cake for 12 people!

Have also confirmed with the weddings team that we can arrive & board as 12:30 as well regardless of e ticket time. :)

If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

Assuming a ship has 3,000 passengers, and each is charged $13 per day, that's $91 per person for a 7 day cruise. Simple math shows that this equals to about $275,000 per cruise. If the passengers aren't going to pay the tips, the cruise line will have to just to retain it's staff. That's over $14,000,000 per year loss per ship. No company would voluntarily give up that much revenue.

    Nope, never gonna happen.

The thing to consider is that with P&O a very large portion of passengers remove the auto tips anyway.

  8. My girlfriend only drinks the occasional Martini or cocktail and I don't drink at all, so the packages are way to expensive for us. even the soft drinks only package is poor value compared to the Pepsi card we've brought previously. On our transatlantic cruise last October we only went though three cards.

  9. I'm looking forward to it personally. I've sailed on Britannia twice, am going on MSC Seaview in June & Ventura next year. So have only sailed on 'larger' ships.

As a young couple in our mid 20's we prefer the slightly lower initial cost. we can then save up for the extras if/when we want them.

  10. We married on P&O last year. The only real issue with had was with dining arrangements. At the time, P&O advertised incentives to bring 20+ in the wedding party. However they didn't have the ability to cater for that many in the speciality resturants. The only solution was to have a few tables together in the MDR, which was a bit of a let-down. Otherwise it was a great day. I'm sure you'll both love it.

Thanks. We've yet to make up our minds on dining. Can't decide between MDR & Epicurean. Think we're going to have about 15 guests.

  11. Wondering if anyone has had any experience of a Wedding at Sea with P&O? My girlfriend & I are getting married on Ventura in June 2019. We do gave friends & family coming, although they've all booked separately as it was slightly easier.

We haven't yet decided on after ceremony dining(appreciate that this isn't booked until 4 months prior), but girlfriend has already decided she wants the tiered chocolate cake. :)

Also was interested to read that we apparently get priority boarding. Does this mean we can arrive whenever, or we get priority within our assigned slot?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

  12. There's a fair amount of sun. I'd say it's half and half, of course the sun does move. So sunny places in the morning will be shady in the afternoon. So people did move their loungers round a bit. Can also be very windy depending on the weather. But the main shady areas are in-between the two hot tubs, in front of the cabana thing.

Breakfast & Lunch is correct, plus they serve afternoon tea. The food is very health focused, and the menu on the P&O Website was what we had last year. Breakfast Lunch

  13. Morning All,

We're sailing on Britannia on Friday to the Caribbean and have a 12:30 boarding slot(as we've booked a suite). Just wondering what peoples experiences have been recently?

Should we turn up at 12:30 on the dot or earlier? We're staying in the West Quay Premier Inn overnight anyway, so arriving earlier isn't a problem.

    Thanks in advance!
