  1. I think many are misinterpreting what the OP is referring to. I don't know what the activities are, but it sounds like it could be something like the flowrider, where suite guests might have access to a much shorter line that basically allows them to use the flowrider over and over again at the expense of non-suite guests that are waiting in the "normal" line. I don't think OP is referring to a one-time thing, like getting to the front of the guest services line, or priority tendering, or dining.

This is exactly what was happening at the flowrider on the Allure. However as I read the Suite Perk description, it refres to before opening of the attraction, not unlimited cuts while other guests are waiting. Seems like the Allure is adopting some new rules.

  2. We have been cruising on Princess for last few cruises and decided to try RC again for its itinerary in the Caribbean. We are staying in a suite and would like to know some of the perks. Thank you for assistance with this.

It's my understanding with the higher suite levels you get an unlimited amount of cuts into the line waiting to ride the flowrider. Sometimes the wait is at least 30 minutes and this would be an extremely valuable perk if you have children that want to ride the flowrider.

  3. The "fast internet" depends on the ship and the location. The ships that have been upgraded have great performance in the Caribbean but still have poor performance in Alaska or other regions that don't have good satellite covergae. Unless there is good satellite coverage, you won't get good internet performance. Does anyone know if there is good satellite coverage in the North Atlantic or the Med?

  4. We have an August cruise on the Silhouette that is scheduled to sail from Amsterdam and visit Brussels. We do not plan on changing our cruise plans at this point but we make some adjustments to our travel plans. Instead of using the train to travel around Amsterdam, we will likely take a taxi to reduce our exposure to possible terrorist targets. This is one of the things we will do as we become more vigilant.

  5. I think the difference might be that the Oasis class when you go to the helipad it has a steel door which is locked with a turning mechanism. I would assume when there's not an official event there it it always has a padlock on it. I could check if you really want me to OB.

If my memory serves me correct ships like Serenade and Radiance and some of the smaller classes have the ability to walk up to them directly from the promenade deck.

On Oasis class ships the jogging track is the proverbial promenade which is actually down on deck five and the helipad is on deck seven. All just theory, but I think the fact that it's a heavy steel door might make the difference. I also wonder if that door was opened it would make a huge wind tunnel down the deck seven cabin hallway.

My theory is that it is privacy of the cabins on the same deck as the helipad on Oasis/Allure. On Oasis/Allure you could walk up to the cabins and look directly into the cabin windows. If the helipad was always open, those cabins would not have any privacy. On Freedom and the other classes of ships, passenger cabin windows are not accessible from the helipad.

  6. Today, while waiting in line at guest services due to computer issues on Anthem (waiting to disembark) a gentleman came through the line and tried to cut in front of everyone else. Being the line was down the Esplanade people were obviously freaking out. They originally asked him to wait in line with all the other guests, but he said he was an important person and would call "53" and they would come assist him right that second. Sure enough the pulled him and his party out of line immediately and attended to his needs.

I'm just wondering, what makes you that special and who was he calling? LOL

    Just another prblem for Anthem...

  7. Security lines at FLL can be very long, with the lines at Southwest being the worst of any airport I've ever seen. I would still get off early and get to the airport. After the cruise, it really doesn't matter to me where I sit and I'd rather be through security. Taxis are the easiest way to get to the airport.

  8. Hi Folks, currently booked on 4/10/16 Transatlantic on Celebrity Silhouette, this trip was 2 years in the making, was booked in an inside cabin 3144. A few months ago I was offered a upgrade gty with no assurance of what type of cabin it would be, so I declined and stuck with my inside cabin 3144. Today I received a promotion from Celebrity's Captains Club, $150 upgrade to either an Oceanview or Veranda, I immediately fowarded the promotion to my TA and told her Veranda only! and just received word that I got cabin 9242 midship deluxe balcony for $150.00 total , very happy.

I'm glad your happy and it sounds like a reasonable deal, but it is an upsell not an upgrade. It's sad that these have repleced the upgrade ppolicy

  9. A scooter can fit into a regular cabin if the bed is by the balcony (or away from the door in inside cabins) but it will be very tight. You will need to pull the scooter to the area in front of the couch. If the bed is by the door, it won't fit.

An accessible cabin would be much. much better.

  10. It may not get better than this, but the BOGO frustrates many long time cruisers because RCL raised many prices before the BOGO promotion. I've not been able to find any really good deals since BOGO has started. The best for me has to book as soon as they new season is announced because the prices only seem to increase.

    Good Luck with your situation

  11. Hi can anyone advise on the best located car hire for disembarking a cruise at Fort Lauderdale please.

    Thanks

Help me a little with your question, I'm not sure what you want. Is a car hire a taxi or rental car? Where do you want to go? There are plenty of taxis in Fort Lauderdale and the airport is a short trip. No need for a car hire. If you are going to Miami or another location, there are probably better options.

  12. We are going on a spring break cruise in March with our kids and some friends. We have cruised 15 times, 13 with Royal, and we have never had an upgrade. We usually book an inside room for the kiddos and a Junior suite for my wife and I. Got a notice from my TA that we had been offered an upgrade for the kids room to a balcony on the hump. Nothing is free, but for $210.00, it's a heck of an upgrade. It can happen!:D

I'm glad this is working for you, but this is not the work of the Upgrade Fairy. This is the work of her Evil Twin, the UPSELL FAIRY. We all need to resist this tactic and not pay for these upgrades. If we frustrate the Upsell Fairy, she will dissolve into a puddle of salt water and the Upgrade Fairy will return.

  13. Thank you all for your good wishes. This was a last minute decision for us. Since the cruise is fairly port intensive, we decided to give an inside a try. Boy oh boy this upgrade sure is exciting! Of course, at the price we paid we do not get a beverage package or any other goody from Celebrity. We will just have to pay as we go.;)

Don't forget to bring a couple of bottles of wine

  14. Is dependent on which port you ares visiting and IF GOD FORSAKE you do not have pass ports with you. Example Missing a ship in Cozumel or Aruba if you have PP and CC not a great problem to make it to another Major port.

I guess chalk it up to another travel adventure and we, well most of us, know that travel is not rocket science and stuff happens.

It's not uncommon for the ship to leave before everyone has returned. Before the ship leaves without you, the crew will go to your cabin and get your passport and leave it with the pier agent. If you watch carefully you will often see the shore side representative getting a package from the ship just before it leaves.

  15. Good! Hopefully this will stop people from booking 10 cruises but only taking one, tying up all the good cabins on the others until FPD.

I think Celebrity is contributing to this behavior. My recent experiennce suggest that cruise proces are the lowest as soon as they are announced and only go up from there. So, It only makes sense to book cruises far in advance to get the lowest prices and cancel later. Seems like a good plan to me.

  16. You are 100 percent correct. But u have to give Celebrity 100 percent credit for there marketing program. A lot of people think it's free. My friends just paid 300 dollars more per person then I did but they got the the FREE drink package. They also have come up with aqua class which is pay more for rooms not in good locations. But throw some water in and your own place to eat and it seems to work.

I'm with you guys, these packages are anything but FREE. My next few cruises were booked before Celebrity announced all of these bargains. It will be interesting to see if Celebrity will be able to maintain these higher prices with give aways.

  17. We spent the day at Columbus cove. The girls wanted to do the water park but once we got there they decided never mind. They looked a little older than most out there and they were just chill n.

For back on the boat about 230, went ant got a roast beef sandwich and now I'm up at the solarium just chill n.

    My view as we speak.

We really do love Labadee but as we were leaving dw says anymore times here we'll need to spring for a cabana again. So much more peaceful. We'll just have to save a little more I guess. And I did look, they looked all booked too.

Hi, we happen to be on the same trip and yes it was a great day in Labadee.

One question for you.... Are you in MTD? The lines in MTD were longer than we have ever seen and they were asking people to consider switching back to second seating.

Also new for us is that they have moved MTD to Deck 3 to get more space.

    In any case, great review.

  18. Getting the ship from port to port in a safe manner is the job of the captain of any ship.

But on cruise ships, typically the captain is additionally expected to schmooze with the passengers. :D

It should not make any difference if the Captain is male or female. The only issue should be was she the best person for the new Captains position when it became available. I hope this was the only criteria that Celebrity used for her selection.
