Taxis are plentiful at the airport. There's a taxi stand after you exit the baggage claim area. Get in line, tell the person where your going and that person will hand you a paper with your taxi cost and summons the next cab in line for you. Prices are very reasonable going to the hotels and over to the Pan Am pier. Taxi costs are by zones.
When returning back to the air port (man that cruise went fast) you are required to go thru the agriculture inspection station. All your checked and carry on luggage has to go thru the screening (very quick process) inspection before you check in with your air line.
Hi! I’m from NY and have been to SJU many times. All good on taxis. Just needed the pier info. Thank you!

No need to be sorry. For SJ embarkations the Pan Am pier works great. Are you doing a pre cruise hotel stay?
Yep - all set with our plans for that... just needed the pier info. Thank you!!

Sorry that you are at that pier instead of old San Juan. Pan American pier is out of it. You will need a taxi to get there.
I’m not sorry.

Agree with both post from @RichYak. Also after security to the right there is a small store in the terminal. Limited selections but might be something you need that you forgot.
perfect, thank you!!

Which pier is my ship docking at?
http://www.langland.org/cruises/graphics/sanjuan.gif
- There are three major pier areas in San Juan. Old San Juan Piers 1-6, Navy Frontier Pier, and the Pan American Pier as seen above.
- In general, those ships who are dayporting in San Juan usually dock at the OSJ Piers (usually Pier 3 or 4) so you can walk right out into OSJ.
- Cruise ships that start in San Juan will use either OSJ Pier 4 (4-E or 4-W) or the Pan American Pier (PAD-E or PAD-W). Rarely, the Navy Frontier Pier is used.
- For more information about the piers in San Juan, please visit the Continental Shipping Website.
Thanks. I know the pier (it was in my post), my question was about the terminal it self. @richyak answered my question. Thanks!

IME, an early time actually seemed quieter. With the late sailaway (8:30pm), many people arrive on mid-day flights or spend the day in OSJ. The time I sailed out of PR, I arrived to the port around noon and barely stopped walking right onto the ship. I plan to arrive around the same time in March.
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate your help!

Though we are experienced cruisers, this is our first time sailing out of San Juan. What is the terminal like? Is there an indoor waiting area? Seating? AC? Thinking about check in tomorrow and the time we should choose. Generally we like to arrive at an earlier time but I also despise the crush of people that happens when everyone arrives earlier than their scheduled time. What is the mood there? Thanks!

Do you mind if I ask what deck you’re on? We are on next week. Deck 2 cabin in the 200s
Deck TEN. Sorry, wish I could edit a post!

No reservations required for the Escape Room. Just head to the The Club 10-15 minutes before the event. If you don't have a large group, the entertainment team will probably combine you with other players to form a team close to 10. We were a group of 9 (from three different Cruise Critic families) and an individual person showed up and was assigned to our team.
This looked fun! How long was it? Thanks and enjoy your day!

I am in one of the suites with noise issues. Constant creaking noise all night, but that's nothing compared to the banging noise within the walls all night long. Retreat concierge has list of more than 10+ suite rooms with similar issues and they told us that they will provide some kind of monetary compensation to the guests impacted. They are also offering alternative rooms for guests to sleep in and providing ear plugs. Every time I visit the retreat lounge, there's someone complaining about the noise....

Advance Check-In is the name of the luggage service. While their desk is inside of the terminal building, they do not appear to have a direct affiliation with the port authority. You can find more info here: https://www.advancecheckin.com/
Thank you!!!

When we arrived back in port, we proceeded to the customs hall, located our luggage, were cleared by the customs officer, and then proceeded out into the hallway that is just inside from the Julia Street pick up/drop off area. About 50 yards past the customs officer we saw the desk for "Advance Check-In" luggage service where they had about a half-dozen staff members set to tag your bags. We then pre-paid for our luggage to be delivered to MSY, where we were able to pick it up at the baggage claim level later that evening.
The fee is $25 for the first piece of luggage, $45 for 2-4 pieces of luggage, and $10 for each additional piece of luggage after 4. $55 lighter (plus tip) and five bags lighter we were then free to go catch our Uber to head to the WWII Museum. A great way to kill time until our late flight!
Thank you! So it's operated by the port? Or is there a separate name of the business that they contract with? I'm actually interested in it for a different reason in NOLA so trying to track down who actually performs the service. Thanks again!

After our day at the museum, we took an Uber over to the airport, retrieved our bags from the courier service (they had a little stand set up just inside the arrivals level doors, not the departures level doors.
Thank you for a great review! It's refreshing to see someone be so positive and make the best of things - I really appreciate it! Do you mind sharing the luggage service you used? Thank you!

Any news of Covid cases onboard? I see Scarlet Lady is on orange status with some cases.
Orange means at least 0.3% of passengers and crew have tested positive. If crew is about 1100 and someone posted there are only 500 passengers this week so that would be 1600 total. The 0.3% cases would mean at least 5 cases onboard.
Have no idea, it hasn’t come up at all.

How many are on your sailing? If you find someone to ask, I’m curious how many are on the next sailing leaving this Friday as we are on that.
Around 700 is what we’ve been told

What number is your suite? We have a Gorgeous suite in 2.5 weeks, last week it was changed to 15 299A (previously we had 15 283Z). About an hour after I received an email showing the change a Rockstar agent called to tell me it was changed due to 'inventory' and it was port side which gives a great view as leaving Miami. It's also a bit further from the pool which seems like a good thing!
Thank you for bringing us along on your trip!
We are A side, I’ll share the number when we’re off the ship. I hope it works out for you! Leaving Miami is always great, no matter the view.

Oh and before I forget. The placement of some of the mega rockstar rooms is really loud — the pool DJ is going full force and our cabin walls are vibrating.

Friends and friends I haven’t met yet: I can’t decide what to drink. I’m at the point where I make today an Off day or get back on the horse and keep going. What is your go to pick me up drink? They don’t have 43 back here or I’d get a carajillo.

Thanks! I wonder if they can apply it to a future sailing we have in October. We step on board in 2 weeks.
I believe it has to be new bookings. If I’m wrong, I’m sure someone will tell me.

Hi from Richard’s Roodtop! Day one was great… maybe too great because I have not been able to shake a pounding hangover headache. If anyone has any miracle cures I am all ears.
Embarkation was the smoothest I’ve had in 3 sailings. We showed up around 12:45 due to race traffic. We were shown to the Rockster area at the terminal and were onboard just before 2. My first two sailings had very disorganized embarkations so it was nice to see that part get easier. They are figuring it out.
One thing they are not figuring out: this flipping app is so horrible. I’m a fairly patient person but needing to delete and reinstall the app 3 times to get it to work is a little much! Problems aside, we got to our Gorgeous suite and met our Roadie (Halid from Serbia). He helped us move some shows and dinners around so nothing conflicted and also swapped some alcohols in our in room bar. We’ve only called him for help once - we broke one of the water carafes in the room (oops) and he sent something me to get the broken glass. Tile floors + glass water carafe = me playing “the floor is lava” for the rest of the night. Lol.
We got a little sprinkle of liquid sunshine during our sailaway, enough to send everyone running indoors. Dinner was Pink Agave. Mid dinner, there was a quiet crew announcement that they could remove their face masks. It was like Christmas morning- everyone was so excited. Our dinner waiter was from the Ukraine so we chatted with him about his family and their safety. He said that it’s hard to be away, but he actually feels fortunate that he has a job where he can support them. That one got me- it’s easy to forget that our crew is sometimes coming from a totally different life.
I was recognized by one of the bartenders from our previous sailing- he called me a Born Again Virgin 😝😝
We played some trivia with RJ and went to the pajama party, moved indoors because of the rain. A little bit of the craps table and it was time for bed!
In middle of the night, I reached for my water glass and took a healthy swig of the Zacapa Old Fashioned I took to the room with me. Surprise 3am happy hour!

Apex Captain and cruise director Feb 24
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
Hello! I have tried searching this group and the Internet in general and can’t find an answer. Does anyone know who the captain and Cruise Director will be on the February 24 sailing of Apex? Thank you so much in advance.
