  1. As a RN i find it concerning that these Doctors get are to get paid for prescriptions. How many prescribe drugs, when its not really called for? But hey, they want a new set of golf clubs...Cipro for everyone!!

I returned from the Solstice Sept 11. Out of 16 people in our party 13 of us were sick. I was by far the worst. When I went to the Dr, I was given an ekg, multiple blood and urine tests and I don't even remember what else. I was having severe breathing problems. I was given 7 nebullizer treatments over 3 1/2 days and confined to my cabin with an oxygen machine. Along with the treatments I was given broad spectrum antibiotics when I specifically told the Dr I did not do well with them and the last time I took them I almost died. He assured me these were "safe". Well, they weren't. Not only did they cost almost $300 for 20 pills, they started a digestive issue. I'm still not well, but did stop the pills on the 3rd day. Needless to say this was the worst vacation I've ever taken and will not be cruising again. Oh, my total medical bill was almost $2000.

  2. We've had a few good displays already this year... So hopefully things will work out for you.

We're sailing Friday on Solstice. Do you think there is any chance of seeing the lights? Or are we not going to be far enough north? I would sooooooo love to see them.

    Thanks

  3. I had the same problem. I hadn't quite filled everything in. As I was filling in the form it kept asking if "same for" myself when I was filling in my husband's info. I thought It was automatically entering it, but no. I had to go back and fill in all the info for myself also. Check each page and question, probably there's something you missed.

  4. I can't believe that after 2 years of including a drink package and now being forced to pick a perk which includes a drink package as one of the choices, their are passengers who want to risk smuggling liquor on board. I completely understand bringing wine on board as the choices on any cruise line on any given sailing are hit or miss even if you are willing to pay the price.

For us it isn't a matter of smuggling liquor. My husband would enjoy a beer or two on our balcony. Do you think they would confiscate a six pack. Is the alternative asking for unopened beers at one of the bars and taking it to our room? We do have a drink package.

  5. No charge.

Yes, on formal night, or any other.

Ordering earlier the same day is fine.

They usually like to deliver the room service dinner orders around the end of the early seating in the MDR and before late seating begins,

(in other words, when the galley has some slack time between preparing the food for early and late dining),

but it can vary from cruise to cruise, especially if they get busy preparing food for select dining during that time period.

Just ask your butler (if you have one) or stateroom attendant to bring you a copy of the main dining room menu for that evening, and check off the items you want.

The butler (if you have one) will set the table and serve you the dinner course by course.

Otherwise, the entire meal will be delivered to your cabin at one time on trays, but the dishes arrive covered so the hot foods stay pretty hot and the cold foods cold until you uncover them.

However, if you order something frozen like ice-cream, I suggest sticking it inside the fridge until you are ready for it.

Or else we like to go up to the buffet area and get ice-cream ourselves later, after the meal is finished.

If we are not staying in a suite (therefore no butler), we like to pull the coffee table over close to the balcony doors before the food is delivered and have them set the tray(s) down on the coffee table inside the cabin.

Then it takes only a few steps to carry the dishes out to the balcony and uncover them ourselves as we want them, and to return the dirty dishes back to the tray on the coffee table as we finish with them to make room for the next course out on the balcony table.

Enjoying our own private dinner on the balcony is one of our favorite things to do on a cruise, especially when sailing through a scenic area at sunset (not only on the Solstice, but on any cruise ship).

Do you know if passengers not staying in my room can also get room service in my room? My son and wife are sailing with us and this might be fun.

    Thanks
