OK....now I feel like a total newbie.  Out of all my cruises, I've never sailed to Alaska.  October weather looks like 50º-60º?  Is that a fair assumption?  Is it rainy?  What to pack?  Assuming jeans and hoodies would be fine?  Maybe a rain jacket?

Appreciate the help and any insight provided.

Dress in layers. Definitely bring a rain jacket and you might want to invest in some waterproof shoes if you don't have any.

  2. We're booked on the Encore for the second week of Oct. We went two years ago the first week of June and the weather was perfect. Saw glaciers, whales, bears, moose, otters, eagles and seals.  Honestly, we don't care if all we do is sip martini's and watch the rain from the observation deck.

This sounds as though it only applies to getting you home if you deny boarding based on the covid test at embarkation. If you test negative, board, and develop covid mid trip; I don't know that they are offering to pay for that. It certainly isn't an offer to pay for any medical care if you get sick enough to need to be hospitalized or air evacuated mid trip.

Guests who test positive for COVID-19 during their cruise and are required to quarantine will receive a pro-rated cash refund or a pro-rated Future Cruise Credit. If a guest followed all of the cruise line's health and safety protocols, the cruise line will coordinate and cover the cost of necessary onboard COVID-19 related medical treatment, required land-based quarantine and travel arrangements to get the guest safely back to their home.

Really?  I'm sure it has happened, but I've never seen it (and I have spent a lot of time in the buffets).  What are these things that they pick up and sniff?  Hot dogs?  Slices of pizza?  Rice and vegatables?  Scrambled eggs?  I guess I would have to see that.  That said, I'm all for having staff serve the food but for entirely different reasons.  Have you ever been in a buffet line before somebody who literally takes two minutes to get a single spoonful of something onto their plate?  It gets painful at times.  Having staff slop in onto the plate in a matter of seconds will make the whole thing go much quicker.

I was behind a Kid in the line once that got approx. 5,000 French fries. He must have realized he could only eat 4,000 so he promptly returned 1,000 with his hands. It was kind of funny to me at the time. I skipped the fries.

Question: If the Bliss is not going to be stopping in Victoria at the end of its itinerary, will they just return to Seattle a day earlier or add another Alaskan port of call??

We're booked on the Bliss. We got an email that our itinerary changed with Victoria and Skagway being dropped and Icy Strait Point and another Sea Day added. I did rebook to take advantage of the 30 % off sale and saved $667.20 and will get 3 Latitudes points for each night.

  6. We're booked on one of the October cruises to Alaska. We got a balcony room with pre paid gratuities, 4 free offers, including dining, drink ,wifi  and shore excursion credit, in addition to double Latitude points for around $3600. We look forward to the cool weather since we live in the Southeast. I also anticipate seeing more land based, animal activity. We did the Inside Passage last year in early June and enjoyed it. Saw lots of whales so if we miss those, that's o.k. We hit all the same ports except one, Victoria. I have a companion fare on Alaska airlines to take advantage of traveling to and from Seattle, and enough points for a free hotel room with Hilton, for pre-cruise Seattle stay. I think we'll enjoy it, no matter what is in store for us.

  7. We just booked a 7 day, Alaska Cruise in 2021, with a balcony room, two for one deposits, all four promos (could have got reduced air but had a better deal through Alaskan Airlines' Credit Card), pre-paid gratuities and an extra Latitudes point per night, all for $3600 and some change. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

  8. We canceled our Canada/New England cruise for October. We were before the final payment date and should get our refund. Even if cruising starts back up, I don't know if Canada will open the ports. We fully intend on booking again when this is all wrapped up.

  9. We went on a whale watching excursion on our Alaska cruise. Saw lots of whales but I enjoyed seeing them off of our balcony in the morning while I was drinking coffee. We also spotted a black bear on the shore and actually had a brown bear swim across behind the ship while we were cruising in to see the glaciers.

Hey all. Finally awake after a long night and we’re about to dock in San Juan. Perfect Timing for me.

all I know is what I saw. I got the video from someone else’s phone when I was there as my video did not work.

There were two Instances of fights with the same people. I was at the chandelier casino level. what I saw/heard happen Was there was commotion at the social. I heard one fight breaking out and when I looked over, security had cleared people out of the club and everything seemed fine. Lots of yapping and jawing and then everything was ok.

a few minutes later, I was playing casino around the chandelier again. Next thing I know it was complete pandamonium. People were crying for blood and everyone At the casino rushed to the railing to watch What was happening including myself.

What I witnessed was nothing short of an all-out melee people were running out of the club like a fire broke out. At least 3 separate brawls...including one lady-on-lady. I saw aT least one girl pushed to the ground in her dress. The other fights you see in the photo are the other brawls. Security spent at least 15 minutes down there trying to keep people apart as we all watched from the staircase and casino.

i don’t know the fate of the perpetrators

But I did see at least one roaming about later as if nothing happened. I don’t know anyone will get thrown off at San Juan.

if anyone else has updates please LMK

I am departing out of Quebec City for the 9 October maratime cruise.  My original flights were to Montreal. I called the air department and asked them how they were getting me from there to the port. There was a long pause and then was told it was fixed. I looked at my confirmation and saw i was now flying to Quebec City.

Hey, we're on the same cruise. Well, we worked it out for my Wife to get an extra day off, so I got a deviation for the day before. I hate cutting it close and depending on the Airlines to not have delays. Flying into Quebec City instead of Montreal would be a whole lot better. It would save the hassle of the 3 hour train or bus ride.

  12. We've been to Moderno on at least 6 cruises. We like it. We both enjoy the salad bar. You can make a meal out of it alone. The meat has not been bad at all except maybe a fatty piece on occasion. There is always more on the way, so that's not a big deal. We've  never had a problem with the Staff. In fact, they have always been very personable and accommodating to us. One time, when we couldn't decide on a dessert, they brought us all of them. We'll go again.

So did we.  But as time went on they changed.  Originally BCN-MAD-JFK and now BCN-JFK.

Not sure what will be the final version. Some posters making big decisions based on the initial listing but it may be way too early to come to any conclusions.

I'm hoping as ours get closer, they change to non-stop as we are flying in the day of (unavoidable) and we have to catch the transfer from Montreal to Quebec City (3 hours).
