  1. I love long flowing dresses and maxi dresses. At 53 post back surgery everything below the belt is jelly! lol some things look better covered. Love the long formals and casual maxis that are super. Also At 5 foot 10 mini would not cover my hiney! rofl

  2. You are so right. I have recently heard a woman's opinion about the balcony on AFT. Dirty due to engines and noise. his will be our third time on the dream. We have stayed in 8217 which was perfect for hubby and I super quiet and last time room 8363 which I wondered if there were many staying on the floor rarely saw a soul or heard a noise...I understand that the music can be a bit loud right at the lido deck but being dead center next to the elevators and right at the pools is a plus...Hubby and I can go up to eleven to smoke (Bad person that I am) LOL and not worry about dad if he wants a nap. I was running the stairs last time until dad got his directions down back and forth from the casino bar to the room making sure he could find us! LOL Well dad has battled cancer and has a pace maker along with congestive heart failure I am just thankful we are still making memories! He is all I have left. Will this cruise be a bit slower than the first but making memories it what it is all about.

  3. Same cruise! FTTF also. Bet we chatted at one point or the other. I totally agree with you on the negatives

First, let me say that 95% of the negative stuff I read about Carnival here on Cruise Critic turned out to be absolutely true. About 3% of the passengers on this cruise did not belong on this cruise ship or any other cruise ship as they were of low character / class and conducted themselves poorly. Also, you are probably going to have to go to the Sturgis Bike Rally to see more tattoos. (and that is just the women)

Crowds can be very bad a times and there seems to be lines for absolutely everything. The regular line at guest services was atrocious and people literally had to wait 2 hours on the last sea day. I would say it was 25-30 people deep on the last day. However, there always seemed to be 6-8 people in line all cruise long.

Some of the crew showed signs of being overworked. Some of them appear constantly tired. However, they are all friendly to the passengers and do not complain.

I went into this cruise with the expectation that this was going to be a “Carnival Cruise” … that the price was cheap and I was just going to make the best of it … hopefully it wouldn’t be too bad and I would survive no matter what.

It was a different group. Come to find out we heard that an landlord had bought his trailer renters a ticket on this ship which was kind of neat I guess. Was a different group of folks but I as you don't let things like that bother me. Your review is spot on! I was at the meet and greet with dad and my husband. Center middle of photo! LOL Seemed like a huge amount of walking just to say we were there. Food was different believe me. I was on new years eve 2015 and the food has changed. I did not starve by no means it just did not have that POW! it had on the other cruise. Stewards were over worked! The poor bartenders at the casino was really over worked. Samuel and the girl! She was sick God love her still smiled. But since that was the only area where inside smoking was allowed everyone that smoked went there. I understand the non smokers like there air free of smoke but I would think if there was one more inside area the casino wouldn't get so smokey and everyone would be happier...(I Smoke)Great review. Loved Jace! I said BY! I did not get the flyer on rebooking wa! Wa! Wa! But We are on the december 3rd 2017 dream and got a lido deck balcony! and FTTF again just so dad dont have to stand in line. I know but he has a heart condition and too stubborn so get help.Going be a chair hog maybe:) once and finally swim! LOL So much to do so little time

  4. We also were on the December 11, Cruise. I agree you could tell that there were less waiters and servers all around the ship. The lido deck food and the gathering food place was a little over populated at times. The worst part was trying to get into the comedy club. Finally managed to get in the last sea night. Worth the wait but we were to the early show. Love Jace. He was super with my 77 year old dad and made the cruise great. There was a difference in people in general compared the the new years eve cruise the year befre. More casual atmospere...A few more stupid drunks but I have fun and never meet a stranger so it was all good. We smoke and the casino was the only indoor place on the whole boat to go. Unless you stayed up past ten and went into the club. I think if they had one more inside place all the smokers would not stay in the casino. Would help out the non smokers. Yes I have a heart. My dad does not smoke. First time since the change of the food. I liked it way better before they changed it to the american table. But that is just me. I am a sweet a holic and on the lido the sweets were bland. Now in the mdr they were amazing as always. Zuzana was our MDR waitress and She is so special. She had been working on cruise ships since she was 18 and told us she might go on back home. Sh was over 30. All in all the stewards were great... Dream needs a bit of cleaning but that will happen in dry dock. Going again Dec 11, 2017

  5. It is the only place where u can smoke indoors if I recall. So of course if a non smoker passes through u are going to be able to smell it. I smoke but rarely do I have a option to smoke inside. I can smell smoke when in the casino. But it does have pretty good ventilating. Like I said I smoke so it might be a bias opinion. I do not smoke in my Car Home or inside at work. Even a smoker can smell smoke if not used to it inside. It was way better than when I went to a bar in Memphis. But again this is a smokers opinion.:)

  6. Everyone is different I suppose. Balcony vs inside room alone will make numbers change along with when you go. I booked my first cruise balcony room new years eve cruise which is way more costly. Drove to new Orleans the night before stayed in hotel and parked at port drove home and spent an extra 160.00 to board my dog..that alone will make the numbers change. Bought way to many t-shirts and ciggies too. I would say if I had to guess around 6000.00

  7. ok Lets say I have decided to carry cash, pasport Sand and Sail card credit card etc. I have booked an excursion hmmm Caterman and snorkel through carnival...Do you just leave your bag on the boat while you snorkel with important documents inside? I have only booked excursions through carnival but I am still a bit scared to leave it on boat while in the water? I know I am a bit OCD. Thanks for the replys in advance...Dont shoot me just trying to destress

  8. We are going on Our first cruise dream DEC 27th. New years eve cruise! Hippy. I will be wearing a elegant non hoochie momma dress and hubby a suit. I feel to dress for a special night is exciting...I work in a small business casual and hubby in a gas pipe line factory. I honestly don't care what other folks wear ...This is my happy place and I will party in my formal next to someone in shorts. To each there own. Hubby and I are so looking forward to this first honeymoon after 18 years...lol

  9. I just want to personally thank all of you that has shared some amazing stories. I will be going on my very first cruise dream new years eve and the compassion you folks say the crew has is so wonderful. My husband and I never were able to have a honeymoon because we were both package deals. We are going on our 18th:) year and doing the dream! We are excited. Not to mention he is a new years day baby so that too will be part of it..Thank you so much for sharing your positive posts

  10. We decided against the cheers program (with everyone here's input) See we are dreaming on Dec 27th for 7 days! Anywoo...both parties have to get the cheers if one in the cabin does....tips are included per say and you have to buy it for the whole cruise...Breaks down to a whooping 804.00 and change for seven days for two...Avg. achchol 100.00 a day price...for two! Hubby and I are getting off ship at all three ports so that leaves 4 days and many many drinks to drink to make the cost figure out...Get what I mean. Also I can not drink 15 drinks a day (and Walk)and hubby would have to drink my extra to make it worth it...LOL That is a lot of corona at 4.95 plus 15% tip for him to drink! I would love for him to remember the cruise! LOL ROFL Also you got to cut out another whole evening on our cruise because free champaine will be served on New Years Eve...See it is not worth it for us...Now the bottomless buddies makes since for us...I love sprite and OJ and cranberry juice...We are thinking about just getting a bottle of there vocka and bam all the mixers are free

  11. $804.16

Going on a 7day dream DEC 27th...I passed on cheers because of free Champagne on new years ever and three port days...I am a light drinker and thatvis a lot of drinking for hubby to make it worth it...i want him to remember it:)

  12. The 15% added service charge goes to the pool not the individual waiter. You don't need to tip extra but cash is appreciated. I bring a lot of $1 bills and instead of adding an extra gratuity to the check (which also goes to the pool) I give a single with each drink or round of drinks. They get to keep it and you will get great service(not that the service isn't great to start with)

This is basically what I was asking about. Sorry if I did not make myself very clear..I believe in tipping for good service. Now I understand the 15% goes into the pot as such. I will carry a lot of singles for good servers. I just want to rewad a great server personally

  13. I am not a cheap type or anything ...I just read someone that like corona beer costs like 4.95 plus 15% tip. Meaning the beer will really cost like 5.65 around ...just wondered if that was correct. And if the server gets that 15% of every drink served.. Also I have a 7 day cruise and I am trying to budget it correctly. I prepaid the tips via cruise payments, I want to be able to budget extra funds for the great servers and stewards. I used to waitress and understand. We will be paying as you go on beer and wine. Bottomless bubbles is for my sprite addiction. Lol

  14. Ok So I pre paid my tips...I ended up getting bottomless buddies...If hubby buys a beer is tip included in the price or do we need to tip etc...? Saw something about 15% Thanks so much...Looked for this saw several posts about tipping but none I found covered this

  15. My husband and I are going on the dream for new years eve this year! My first cruise...I have done the numbers on the cheers program and since we are on a 7 day trip it would cost us around 804.00. Looking at the cost of beer 5.69 with tip that is a huge amount of beer for my hubby to drink (a Day) I am a super light drinker and @ 9.00 a drink per say, it would make me drink six or so every day including port days...Which we have three...Since I am a very light drinker the bottomless bubbles program at 6.00 a day is more logical. Might take on two bottles of wine and get a bottle of something on the ship. Free juices and coke products...We just bought a container to carry our whiskey or vocka in:):D:)
