Hello -

We are a group of 16 persons (adults and children), who will be cruising with the Costa Diadema;

I would be happy to hear any recommendations on the assigned dinner: is there preferable restaurant and location for such a group (adularia / fiorentino)?

We are looking for a seating arrangement in which we can be near each other.

What is the best way to ask Costa to arrange such group assigned seating? through customer service?

Is the magic bag now available on a daily basis? From past cruise, I remember it was available only half through the cruise. Should this be deserved in advanced in mycosta for the daily availability?

Does anybody know if there is a difference in the Premium Balcony cabins on the Costa Diadema between the different decks, for example between deck 8,9 or 10? I mean in terms of cabin size, balcony size, room amenities etc., or are they all identical?

I am also wondering whether to opt for the open seating or to take the fixed time option so would be very grateful for any further posts regarding other cruisers' experiences and thoughts.

 

We'll be on the Diadema in May and the idea of flexibility over dining time sounds lovely in theory but don't fancy having to wait in a long queue.

 

Also, is it more like the restaurant lunch system where they just seat you at the next available space so there is no choice of having, say, a table for 2 if that is what you would like some evenings?

 

By the way, we have now had several great cruises with Costa and as English speakers (we do also have reasonable Spanish and French between us and we are trying to learn Italian!) we also know it is quite difficult to be seated with other English speakers as they are a bit thin on the ground normally.

indeed the Total Comfort pricing seems to be rolling through certain agents across Europe (however, not yet on the Costa website). for reservations made through a US website, this will be effective as of April 2018.

I recently came across new tariff packages in which drinks packages and other benefits are already included;

pursuant to those websites, the pricing is available for cruises departing as of July 2016m while in other publications I saw that it applies to cruises departing from April 2018.

I would be glad to hear if anyone has any additional information on the availability of this tariff!

Ah - We will be boarding in a few weeks time in Civitavecchia - so sadly no handy port shop to buy water at, but will probably get a few bottles for the room. Presumably people just put them in their carry on luggage?

were you able to buy alcohol / bottles at Civitavecchia port and take with you on board?

I always book the Premium the 10% discount is alawys more than the Premium additional cost.

Does anyone know / have a copy of the room service menu that describes what is included in the Free breakfast in the cabin? is it a continental breakfast? [if it changes from one ship to another, we are sailing on the Magica).

I don't think any of my ideas would work very well cruising with kids, I only eat when I'm hungry, very flexible with scheduling my time.

There are children's buffets some nights, I'm not sure how you find out in advance, maybe by asking the maitre d'.

Was shocked to see "no nightlife". Normally Costa knocks the socks off all other cruise lines when it comes to nightlife. I did Adriatic on Serena a few years ago, there was a lot going on at night.

The lack of dining choice in the evening is definitely the weakest part of the Costa product and could be a deal-breaker for some people, but I found it actually wasn't too bad once I figured out how to game the system.

Are you possibly on the Costa Magica sailing September 9/1 from Savona? We actually board 9/2 in Marseille.

 

 

 

We booked private tours in Lisbon, Tangiers and Casablanca. We are going to the Aquarium on our own in Valencia and taking a small group tour in Cadiz. We are just walking around Savona.

 

 

 

We have never been on Costa but looking forward to a new experience.

No, we are cruising on September 23rd from Savona.

I would be happy to hear more about the private tours you booked for Tangier and Casablanca. We are also now in the process of checking such tours.

For us in Marseille ,we plan to tour independently. We haven't decided yet about the remaining ports.

This would also be our first time on Costa and we are really looking forward to it.

Cruising with the kids and wondering whether the AI packages really worth it or the fact that we have many ports on the cruise derogates from the actual value of the AI packages (as opposed, for example, from buying the fixed number packages)...

We are planned to return from our cruise on a Sunday in Savona, and our flight back home leaves from Milano on Tuesday.

Any ideas for day trips around Savona or on the way from Savona to Milan?

we were thinking of spending Sunday night in Torino and then head in the evening to Milan;

any ideas? is there anything to do in Savona itself?
