  1. So, I'm a bit confused.  There currently is no excursion called 'La Casa en La Playa' available for Cozumel.  We booked 'VIP La Casa Beach Retreat - Adults Only' for our cruise on the Vista in September.  Similar wording, so did they just make some changes to the old excursion and these are the same thing?  Based on past pictures that have been posted in this thread, it seems that either they changed 'casas' or they just went to a different one from the ones in the pictures on Carnival's site.  The reviews on Carnival's site make me think these are the same.

Does anyone have any more current reviews/feedback/pics for 'VIP La Casa Beach Retreat - Adults Only?'

  2. We'll be sailing on the Vista in September of next year, and I'm hearing from a lot of people on these boards about how bad the theater setup is. I'll keep this in mind and make sure to show up early to any shows we want to see.

Vista will be in Galveston by then, so maybe the debarkation process will be better there. I haven't sailed out of Galveston yet (just moved to TX last year), so I have no experience with it yet.

  3. I like a lot of the suggestions already mentioned (unique water slides, observation lounge, return of the atrium), and to expand on the water slide point, I'd like one that is clear, and goes off the side of the ship to a lower deck, like the back corner.

I like the concept of a translucent funnel that lights up, I just don't know how they'd be able to pull that off. I mean, obviously it can't be completely translucent since that's where exhaust comes out, but maybe they can fashion some unique design for the exhaust pipes. Who knows, but I do like the idea of them doing something different with the funnel, like what they did with the Spirit class ships.

I'd like a more open dining room, with more windows. One of the main reasons my wife and I always go with early seating dinner is that we would have potentially nice views in the event that we are seated by a window, but if they open it up enough, everyone could theoretically have a great view.

  4. I will find a way to enjoy any ship I'm on. I'm on a cruise, after all! Typically, the bigger the ship, the more options for activities, food, etc there are, so if it came down to ships in multiple classes with the same itinerary, I'd likely go with the biggest one. I don't mind the larger amount of passengers.

  5. What are your favorite beaches in St.Thomas?

Magen's Bay, without a doubt. I went there a lot when I was a kid (before it got overcrowded), and when I went back there for the first time in over 20 years in 2016, it was just as I remembered, save for all the extra people. I still enjoyed it. Next time I want to try the ferry to St. John.

  6. When it comes to the Caribbean, I will always be partial to St. Thomas. Plenty of great beaches there. My overall favorite port so far, out of 12 cruises, is Kona, HI. It's such a nice, calm, laid-back place. There's plenty to do, but even if you don't want to go on any excursions, the main town area right off the tender is great, too. The beaches are, of course, great. It's Hawaii, after all. Of course, Hawaii cruises would require more of a time and financial commitment than other cruises.

  7. I continue to be completely baffled by how the whole casino perks/points racket works. I only play blackjack at the tables, and this past January on the Inspiration I turned $500 into $1700. I also got the Drinks On Us card, as well as a free bottle of wine and some cookies. My next cruise is in September 2019. Without knowing if I even am eligible for any comps on my next cruise, regardless of when it is, would September 2019 be too far away to be eligible for any comps? Is there a maximum amount of time that can pass before any potential eligibility expires?

  8. We just moved to San Antonio a year ago, so our cruise on the Vista in September of next year is our first chance to not have to fly to our cruise. We have plenty of time to change our minds, but for now we are planning on driving to Galveston the morning of the cruise. Based on other comments, it sounds like it might be a good idea to drive out the day before, but so far we've been lucky with weekend traffic driving to Houston.

This past January we flew to Long Beach for the Inspiration the day of (even changing flights in Vegas!), and we had no issues. We're probably playing with fire, huh? :)

Previously we lived in AZ, and our cruise on the Magic out of Canaveral was definitely a "fly out the day before" situation. We're not THAT crazy.
