  1. We used it for our Med Cruise back in 2022.  They put us on Air Canada out of Newark Liberty with a layover in Montreal.  We got to Rome 3 days early and we had NCL make us our hotel reservations.  We stayed at the Golden Tulip Rome Piram.  Great location, clean and good for our family of four.  We had 2 bedrooms and the bathroom was a bit small.  There is a bar on the rooftop which was nice and the restaurant was good.  On our way home there was a bit of a problem with Canada Air, not NCL.  They had us leaving the following day according to their computer but I had my paperwork with me and they put us on stand by.  As we were waiting they realized their mistake and we were assigned our seats.

  2. Hello,

On my last cruise on the Joy in October (5 days) both my husband and I received 2 cartons of water each every day.  My next cruise scheduled on the Joy in May it now looks like we only receive only 1carton each?  We are Gold members in Latitiudes.  I was just looking at the privileges listed and it states only one carton.  Does anyone know if this is a thing now.  One more thing, we had the regular Beverage Package last time and this time.

    Thank you.

  3. I took a cruise just this past August on MSC Yacht Club Meraviglia.  I have been in the Haven and I have to say the Yacht Club beats the Haven.  The shows are where NCL shines.  I really didn’t enjoy the shows on MSC.  I can’t say how the food is on the lower levels of MSC but in the Yacht
Club food was excellent.  Can’t wait to hear about your experience.   Have a great time!

agree with you wholehartedly.  Use a TA, and let them do the heavy lifting.

Question, If I booked 2 insides Yacht club through MSC and paid in full they can move me to a lower class? Please let me know what you mean by that.

  5. Steve Dasseos - I have WorldWide Trip Protector Insurance CF Travel Insured International through USAA.  I have paid close to $20,000 for this cruise and I am so worried.  I have been on hold 3 hours trying to get through and I know it does cover bankruptcy but I waited too long to get the insurance, it states I needed to get it 30 days from first deposit.  If the company does file for bankruptcy I guess I will lose all my money.

  6. Worried because I paid for my travel insurance 30 days after first deposit.  It says in black and white that after 30 days it Won’t cover bankruptcy so I’m screwed.  I wonder if i should cancel this evening. I am booked on a Mediterranean cruise in August.  I figured the ship probably wouldn’t sail and I was waiting for NCL to cancel and go August 2021 instead.   Does anybody have any sound advice?

  7. I am so sorry - the way I found out was on tripadvisor on their forums to Mexico - I had no idea that for International Travel your passport is useless the last six months.  My sons friend was turned away with his mother recently - they had to leave him behind, they were heading to Asia to visit family and his passport was due to expire in four months and he was refused entry on the plane.  This is a very expensive way to find out your passport is useless - I try to tell as many people I know who are booking a trip outside the country.

  8. Hi, I just put a deposit on the NCL Getaway leaving out of Rome on August 20th.  I told them I would go with their airfare but probably could get it cheaper but I am afraid that if the ship changes itineraries I will be stuck with the airfare I booked and I am afraid I wont get a direct flight to Rome. I also went with their hotel.  Is this a good idea?  Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  9. I have just put a deposit on the NCL Pearl leaving out of NY on April 18 returning the 28th. I have a couple of questions, we have sailed on the Breakaway twice with our sons, now ages 12 and 14. First, I am afraid they will be a bit bored. It is spring break so I imagine there will be other kids on board, but I imagine most of them will be taking the Escape that leaves on April 21-28. They are the type of kids to make their own fun and don't need to be entertained. I am really not interested in that cruise it will probably be a madhouse. Second, I booked an aft Balcony cabin 10668. Will it be noisy, rocky or dirty from ash. Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  10. Many reasons, plenty for my young boys to do, an opportunity for them to see many places, the feeling of realizing how insignificant you are even on a mega ship in the middle of the ocean and the most important reason, NCL takes care of my oldest son who has Celiac Disease.

  11. Why don't they just add it to the price of the cruise? It was ridiculous years ago running around with our envelopes on the last night of the cruise. This is just so much easier. I look at it as part of the cruise fare. Obviously the employees agreed to the current arrangement or they wouldn't have taken the job. i always tip extra where warranted. Unless I received HORRENDOUS service I can't imagine looking for the DSC back.

  12. I started calling the upsell Fairy 5 weeks out and was told it was too early and then called 4 weeks out and price was too high and then called 3 weeks out and price was right. We went from a balcony room to a two bedroom family suite and it was great with two kids. We absolutely loved the Haven but the lady who answered the phone said the upsell number would be a thing of the past and they were rolling out the bidding concept on two ships and then if it is successful, all the ships. Glad I did it.

  13. Fuzz Head and Nats Mom are right. My son has celiac disease that caused neurological damage because of lack of nutrition. My father in law almost died with major organs shutting down hours to live before being diagnosed. The only thing that is great are the "lifestylers" as I call them, they have made it extremely easy to navigate the supermarket with all the certified gluten free food out there. MY sons doctor keeps reminding me it is a fad and 10 years from now it will be different for us that have children and relatives with true Celiac Disease and severe allergies.

I do believe there are severe allergies to gluten, I am upset at all the people who are doing it as a lifestyle change and "cheat".

NCL has been absolutely terrific for my son. Kudos to the Breakaway. They are able to make whatever he wants when he wants, he is not limited to the menu. He never got sick on the two cruises we took and had plenty of food and what a variety of baked goods. We are extremely happy with NCL.

  14. My greatest fear is not getting Noro, but getting it on day I am to fly home. It's one thing to be quarantined to my cabin, it's another thing to be boarding a plane for a three hour flight!! I don't know what would happen if I had upper/lower issues on flight.

My family gives me a hard time and says I am being overly nervous when I use a rubber glove on right hand when going to the buffet. We have only been on one "sick ship" but that was enough.

I had food poisoning on the way back from Italy and vomited on my flight from Naples to Milan and from Milan to New York. I became an expert at being able to get sick in small bags etc. It was absolutely awful. I had a whole group of church ladies praying for me in the row behind me lol! One of them gave me a dramamine and it really did help. I have used dramamine with stomach viruses going forward especially when my young kids were home with me and it always worked. In the grand scheme of things it stunk but not the worst thing that can happen to you.

  15. Get there early and find out EXACTLY where they are sold. Everyone will say guest services but I believe on the Breakaway it was Headliners. And I suggest when you board RUN don't walk and wait for the elevators use the stairs. Somebody on here should know EXACTLY where to buy them. Good Luck!

  16. I have a 10 and 12 year old. My 12 year old has celiac disease and is on a gluten free diet. We ate in the buffet twice last year on the Breakaway and options were different than lunch and yummy :) His dinner was made separately from the buffet area. What I am getting at is I am sure if you plan ahead you can have the MDR dinners sent up to the Buffet if you were interested in doing that. It just takes a bit of planning and a heads up. Make sure you flag your special needs child as I did mine with the special needs department before you sail and give everyone a heads up. They completely went out of their way for my family, to ensure we had a great vacation. Have a great time.
