  1. We went to both in August. In Cabo, we went to the Riu. I loved it here! The food was great, and the pools were awesome!

In Mazatlán, we went to Stone Island. We took an open air taxi to the water taxi and then a water taxi to Stone Island! We love Los Vernos (sp?). Estevan is an older gentleman and he is SO accommodating! We only spent about $20 for the day and $10 was tipping! Awesome place, can't say enough good things about it.

What was the resort fee per person at Riu? Did you take a taxi from the tender to Riu and how long was that and about how much for the taxi ride? Wondering because we have a short day in Cabo. How long did it take to get to Stone Island in Mazatlan? Thanks in advance!

    Thank you!

  3. We were in PV a couple of weeks ago on the Grand Princess. We went to the Casa Magna Marriot in the Marina. It was wonderful. 900 pesos for two with a 799 peso credit for food and drink. They took our credit card. No problems. A beautiful, large clean pool, very good food, cold beer and libations with exceptional service.

We were told it was a 15 minute walk. It wasn't. Took us about an hour and we walk fast. It's about a $5 cab ride.

Thank you! I have been looking into this hotel for day use. Did they have beach chairs for your use also? Or just by the pool? Also, when you say a $5 taxi ride, is that per person? I ask because there are 5 of us. And was it the white taxis or yellow? Wondering if the white taxis can take you there and back? Thank you!

  4. Been going to Estero Beach for years and years. My kids just got back yesterday. Great place to hang on the beach. As for taxi, just get the price upfront and don't give them any money until you get off. No tipping for Taxi's in Mexico. Have fun.

Since it is your first cruise, I would highly recommend the Ships excursion just for peace of mind.

Thank you! Glad to hear some kind advice.

  5. We will be on Carnival Imagination and getting off in Ensenada with our 3 kids -preteen and teens. This is their first cruise and first time out of the country. I am a little nervous as we have not had time to get their passports. My husband and I have been to Ensenada before. We do want them to experience the city for what it is. I know they will enjoy the shopping and the food! We are also beach and pool/water, sun lovers....we know Ensenada is not known for its beaches. That being said.....I have looked into reviews about Estero Beach resort. It looks nice and most reviews are positive, but the excursion is pricey. I do understand that others have simply taken a taxi there and paid a day use fee. This appeals to us but not sure what taxi is safe to get, can we be pretty sure that we can get back at a time of our choosing with the taxi? We would like to have some time to do our own excursion, in town, shopping and eating and then of course get back on the ship on time! Any good details about which taxi to catch, approx price for each for a ride to Estero Beach resort, your experience with that resort, is the taxi ride safe? Never taken a taxi in Mexico before! I am just a concerned mom and welcome any honest and kind advice! Thanks in advance :)

  6. Hi! We are cruising for our second time (husband & I) but our kids are cruising for the first time (10, 14, 16)! We cruised previously on Inspiration in September last year to Catalina, Ensenada (4 day). We had a great time, but we unfortunately didn't look into the pre-teen and teen activities/hang outs too closely. So, we've already booked this particular cruise because we are familiar with the ports, familiar with Carnival, booked Imagination because its similar to Inspiration, but yet a little different. We just wanted to give our kids a chance to check out cruising and see how they like it before we take them on a longer cruise and to ports we're not familiar with. I was just wondering if anyone has a recent 'program/list of events & activities' for kids this age that they could post so my kids can just get an idea of what to expect. My older 2 are not always real social but if they come across peers that they have things in common then they will hang out with them probably more than us. My youngest will enjoy planned activities if she meets new friends-she's more outgoing & social. I hope that they will love cruising like we do (I am pretty sure they will)! But, I know that they will not want to hang out with mom & dad the entire time! Except they will be going to Catalina & Ensenada with us. Please, any and all info, suggestions, ideas, etc. will be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!
