  1. We are doing a Baltic cruise in September 2020.  We will be going to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Finland, and Poland.  I’m a shopper and I’m from Canada. Do I need separate currency for each country or is there a currency that they all will accept?  Also, where is the best place to get the currency and does Princess cruise disburse it?

  2. Princess was AMAZING.  They brought in

more busses for us to sit in as the temperature was in the 30,s Celsius.  They offered free food and drinks to everyone but we were in shock so we just sat on the bus and waited.  When we arrived back at the ship, I had never seen so many white uniformed people waiting for us.  That was in case we needed emotional assistance.  Then, they offered counselling in case anyone needed it.  They also refunded half of our excursion back.  Princess handled the whole situation very professionally.  That is why we don’t have a problem paying a bit extra for princess excursions.  We know we will be taken care of.
Great idea about the Princess Patter!  Thanks

  3. We were on a ship excursion in Darwin, Australia in 2018 to see the jumping crocodiles.  We stopped at a local pub for a break when our bus driver got ran over by her own bus and was killed!  We all were in the pub when this happened and all our belongings were on the bus.  Because it was a “crime scene”, nothing was released until after the police had cleared the area.  We were late getting back to the ship.  Of course the ship waited for us.  This would not have happened if we were on a private tour.  We NEVER will take an excursion with anyone except the ship ever again!  I don’t mind paying a bit more for the assurance.

  4. We will be on the Crown Princess in 2 weeks and were wondering what the current movies are? Also, is there anything we should bring? We will be doing a Mediterranean cruise then a transatlantic. We have cruised before so we have the usual stuff (magnets, bag of medications, post it notes, highlighters, etc). Any other suggestions? Looking forward to packing!

  5. Hello Knickearth

Yes we are on it for the long haul. We booked the transatlantic first and we chose our room. We were planning on staying in Rome for a week before the cruise but we had a hard time finding a hotel, with all the scary reviews. We then saw the cruise from Barcelona to Rome and jumped at it. We love knowing everything is safe on the ship. When we booked, we were not able to choose our room and only guarantees were available. Thus that is why we are waiting. I see that there is lots of room on the transatlantic and was hoping that we could change our room to the on we get previous so we don’t have to change cabins in Rome. That would be nice but as I’m on holidays, I can handle anything!

  6. Well this is definitely wrong. The company that took us was Reef Magic and when I asked them on the boat if we would be going to the large vessel, and they said that we were on the boat and this is where we would stay.

If you read what it says, it states that you would go out for 90 minutes to a “mourning” (anchor) and you would enter the water from the back of the boat. That is exactly what we did. The people you call on the phone are only customer service people. They looked at the picture and says it looks like that. If you really want to know, email Reef Magic. All I know is that is not what we got. You pay a lot of money, you should know what you are getting.

  7. Hi

I wish I could post some pictures. I tried to post pictures of the boat but they didn’t work. Maybe I’ll try again when I get home from work tonight.

The reason why I said the part about don’t miss Melbourne, etc was that the lower part of Australia was where we had the worst seas. Some people might choose to only do the cruise from Perth onward to avoid the bad seas. Those people miss out on Tasmania and the markets.

Now let’s talk markets! Both Melbourne and Adelaide have MASSIVE working outdoor markets. You take a bus to the markets, very easy to find. We loved walking around and looking at everything. So much fun!!!

  8. Hi again.

I did the GBR snorkel excursion. It was quite expensive. When I researched it before, I was shown a picture of the large docking port that had a buffet area and multiple levels. It was not what we got. We were put on a boat that held 100 people and this is where we stayed. The boat ride out to the reef was 90 min. The plan was to stay there for 5 hrs then head back to land. In reality, we were only out there for 1.5 hrs. During that time, 2-3 people were stung by jelly fish ( right by the boat) and a man had a heart attack. We had to pull up anchor and head closer to land so he could be evacuated. That took a couple of hours. We then went back to the spot but by then we were all dry and didn’t want to go back in. Also, the snorkel they gave me leaked water and the second one I got wasn’t much better. I was not impressed with the excursion or the company that ran it. Princess gave me 1/2 of my money back. The current in the reef was very strong. I’m a good swimmer and I’ve snorkeled the Caribbean many times but I did not enjoy this excursion. I’m sure that others might be able to give you their impressions but this is mine.

If you still are going to do it, book it early as it sells out fast!

  9. Hi. The seas around Tasmania were fine. The weather wasn’t the greatest, cloudy and cool but we just wore jackets. A storm was coming in so the captain was worried that we would miss a port but we made both of them. The seas were the roughest through the Australian Bight ( at the bottom of Australia.) Some people were not well but you get that on any cruise. After we rounded the corner, heading to Perth, all was calm. Don’t miss out on visiting Melbourne and Adelaide just because of a few waves. The markets there are AMAZING!

  10. We were on the Sun in October for 28 day around Australia. This was the best holiday we’ve ever taken! The weather along the south half of Australia was cool, 15 - 20 C and HOT from Perth to Brisbane. As we had a couple of days between ports, we were very relaxed and well rested when we returned home. Australians are very friendly and their country is beautiful. This is a must do cruise!

  11. Hi. We sailed on the Sun in October for 28 days. We had a wonderful cruise. The staff were very nice, the ship was clean and the food was fine. It wasn’t the best food we’ve had but I still managed to gain weight, so I must have eaten enough.

Our cruise around Australia was the best holiday we’ve ever been on! We met really nice people and had an amazing time! Enjoy your holiday!

  12. We made a sign at home before we left because I didn't want a sign made out of cardboard. I just made it on our computer and then had it printed at Staples. Our sign was big enough for all of us to hold and it had stuff that was important to us on it. It was clearly visible to the people who waved at us from land or other ships in the locks. We brought the sign back with us and put it in our spare room when we got home. It was also used as the cover of our photo book.

Have fun making your sign no matter where you do it. It's a tradition when doing the canal cruise.

  13. We plan out our cruise and make a calendar of what we have planned for certain days. We then print off the calendar and take it with us for our room as well as give a copy to family members who are staying home. I keep a diary/blog of daily events and then when we get home I transfer everything to a photo book using Mixbook. Our books have the calendar included as well as my blog. It's fun looking back years later and reading about the excitement of each day.

If I have any special things I bought, I take a picture of them and include them in the book. So much nicer than looking at pictures in files on your computer. Also, in case of a fire, all my books are secure in Mixbook "cloud" and can be purchased again ay anytime. Can't do that with your computer.
