We just got to the port and they aren't letting us check in our bags. Porter said the ship is delayed until at least tomorrow. On hold with RCI to find out, as we haven't been formally notified.

I would think that the US will quarantine all the passengers and crew on this ship for 14 days like Japan.  It's a shame the Chinese nationals that flew from China were allowed on the ship in the first place.

  2. the AC on the ship as a whole was fine but in our cabin not good. My friend had an interior room and it worked great. We were on the 9th deck. Do not do any internet package. We got credited for our package because after 3 days it still did not work. A lot of people had the same complaints; a lot; and were all credited.

I am insterested in being able to text my husband using Facebook messenger it worked on the Fascination and Miracle earlier this year for me. However the internet was slow and posting any pictures was really early in the morning. Were you able to text?

  3. I was on the Fascination in March last month and used the Social package for $28 for the week. I will say that it was slow at certain times but overall it worked for me in sending both imessages and Facbook messenger messages to my husband who is disabled. That was my main reason for purchasing it. Yes some photos weren't delivered some were. I was able to upload s ome on Facebook too.

I have purchased it again for my upcoming cruise in May on the Miracle.

  4. We were scheduled for 12/3 sailing so it affects us as well. I fail to see how this is a "complete screw up by Carnival". Did they cause the hurricane, the destruction, the need for assistance? Whether they are paid for the charter or not they are helping those in need.

Yes, we will get a refund and a 25% FCC, and if you book another Fascination cruise there is a $100 OBC. If you have flight changes they will also pay up to $200 Pp for change fees. What the heck more do you want???

Hey Fran, I just pulled up our new booking on the Fascination that my sis re-booked yesterday. I only see a $50 OBC.24bb541cbaffa85ac322d35b68b042ba.jpg

  5. We are leaving the 15th. We changed our plane reservations to arrive the same day as the cruise ship departures. No available hotels October the 14th. We had reservations at the San Juan Sheraton. They cancelled our reservation because they are shut until December. We are going to roll the dice that the planes get there on time. We are flying Delta, they have been GREAT! Delta changed our flights, no charge. Also, they called us wanting to know if we still planed to travel to San Juan. Carnival sent us 0 emails or texts or called us once since the hurricane hit 3 weeks ago. We finally got an update today, lees than a week from our departure.

The same thing happened to me and my sister. We sail on the Fascination 12/3/17 and were flying in 2 days pre cruise and one day post cruise. They cancelled our reservations so we changed our flights with AA no charge so we will be arriving at 4:36 pm...So hopefully just get our luggage and head straight to the cruise port.

  6. I always find these Cruise Director posts interesting. I have yet to even remember a cruise directors name. Can't say I have seen one out and about other then doing the stuff on stage. Either mine have sucked or I just don't pay attention.

Glad I’m not the only one!

I don’t remember the cruise director on the Splendor December 5, 2015 Eastern Caribbean? Anyone out there know?[emoji848][emoji16]

  7. I think the sailing price on the Fascination is a good price. We also got a $50 OBC suppose to sail on her December 3, 2017. Just wondering with the hurricanes Irma and Maria and the horrible destruction and to the infrastructure just wondering if we will sail out of San Juan or a port in Florida.

  8. There are 4 ways while on board to get a ice..

    1) ask the cabin steward to fill your ice bucket 2-3 times daily.

    2) take the ice bucket to the Lido deck self-service drink station, filling the ice bucket using clean cups provided.

    3) ask any bartender for a bucket of ice, the buckets that are from the bars are meant for the buckets of beers but ae much larger than the ice bucket provided by the cabin steward.

    4) request ice to be delivered by room service, but this can take 45-1 hour to get, useful when the steward work shift is over.

    Thanks great!!!

  9. HURRICANE MARIA

    ITINERARY UPDATES 9/22/2017 – 3:30:00 PM (EDT)

    Carnival Fascination – San Juan

The Port of San Juan is currently closed. Fascination guests currently on board enjoyed a day in Antigua today and are now on their way to San Juan. Our intention is to be in position to dock this weekend, in the event the port re-opens, in order to give guests an opportunity to debark, if they wish to do so. Alternatively, guests may also remain on board as the ship repositions to Miami, where it will arrive on Tuesday afternoon and stay until Wednesday. Our airline partners are committed to working with our guests to waive any change fees associated with rescheduling flights.

Port officials have informed us that our terminal in San Juan has sustained extensive damage as a result of Hurricane Maria. The assessment is still in progress but it now appears that it will take several weeks to make the necessary repairs. Unfortunately, this means the following San Juan and Barbados sailings will have to be cancelled:

    San Juan departures

    September 24

    October 1

    October 8

    Barbados departures

    September 27

    October 4

    October 11

For all canceled cruises, a full refund will be automatically processed, including Fly2Fun reservations, pre-purchased Carnival Adventures, Fun Shop purchases and beverage packages. The refund will be processed to your original form of payment.

Given the circumstances, we are working with our airline partners to assist those guests with independent air travel regarding the waiver of change fees.

Additional information will be provided to our guests in an email later today.

  10. I signed up for Carnival Alerts and just got this text. It's for the September 24, 2017 sailing.

*Me and my sister are booked for the December 3, 2027 sailing.

    Carnival Fascination September 24, 2017 -

As a result of damage to our cruise terminal and the uncertainty of when the Port of San Juan will reopen, we have no alternative but to cancel your cruise. A full refund will be automatically processed. An email with more information will follow. For more details, please visit http://www.carnival.com/travel-alerts

  11. My sister and I are suppose to sail out of San Juan 12/3/17 on the Fascination just not sure what we should do probably wait a few weeks see how things are going. We have travel insurance for our cruise and airfare. We booked our hotel stay before and after cruise at the Hyatt House hotel the one across the street from where the Weather Channel Paul Goodloe is at. We did that through Booking.com with free cancellation. I feel so bad for the people of the islands.

  12. We're on the 12/3 cruise as well and just trying to be a patient as we can waiting for more time to pass. Things can change at a different pace as time goes on and we might all be surprised how quickly some things change for the better.

It's easier said than done but, I'll take a breath and chill a little for the time being. And yes, before someone brings it up, we too have paid for flights that are not refundable so it could cost us as well. I just keep telling myself we're better off then the folks down there right now. I can handle loosing a few hundred bucks rather than loosing my home and possibly, livelihood.

Pyrate13, I hope we all can still go on our cruise 12/3. It sucks if you loose money on your airline tickets. My sister booked our flights but we paid for travel insurance just in case.

  13. I agree with Essiesmom, I just don't see how Carnival is going to fly tourists in tomorrow and this weekend. I would sure hope that Carnival makes their decision soon.

We are doing this same cruise but 12/3/17 and while we gave travel insurance and airfare insurance we will decide in October to try and swap for another cruise the same price. Will try and come back in a year or do they will need time to rebuild.

  14. Yes we are Spose to fly to San Juan tomorrow and stay for 2 nights before we go on the cruise on Sunday .. but we have received nothing on the itinerary change and if I cancel tomorrow we will only get the port fees back .. so I am hoping that carnival cancels so we get all our money back,,, but we only have until 2 pm tomorrow to cancel and if I cancel I get port fees back and if I don't cancel and carnival doesn't cancel I GET NOTHING BACK .. this is my 5 th cruise with carnival and up until now I was very happy with the service but I can't believe they won't Refund us or give us a credit for future ...

It's sad for the people in PR but Carnival needs to let people know what to do as far as the upcoming sailings out of San Juan. Me and my sister have the travel insurance from Carnival and for our airfare. We were flying in on Dec 1, 2017 2 days before our cruise.
