  1. I was wondering what is the best method of transportation (other than cruise ship shuttle) to the Auckland airport from the cruise terminal. Any recent recommendations on services available? Specific companies? I saw some recommendations for Alpha Shuttle on a previous post, but they may not be around any longer.

    Thank you.

Haneda (HND) airport is 14 miles from Yokohama cruise terminal. If your flight depart at 4:30pm, you must be at the airport no later than 2:30pm. If your disembark is late, then only a few hours of free time. Yokohama station has luggage storage coin lockers, taxi and airport bus to Haneda.

Yes. I’m just trying to find alternatives rather than sit with our bags waiting to check in for hours at the airport.

  3. We are arriving in Yokohama port, but have a 4:30 pm flight out. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do for the day, and a transfer company to Haneda? There are 4 of us. In other ports, we've booked a 1/2 day tour with airport drop off, but I have not found anything here. Another option we were thinking about is book a nearby hotel room, store bags, and take a walk about before arranging a transfer to the airport later in the day. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas, or suggestions for nearby hotels and transfer service.

    Thank you!

So far all we have discovered are Indonesian, Indian, Turkish and Hamburger places.   We will be checking more out tomorrow.

We were so in the mood for just a good home cooked hamburger which was the reason for our grocery shopping,   Cereal, Milk, Bread, Butter, Hagen Dazs and a beautiful Hamburger -   best translation was Ground Tartar -   I think it was ground steak... very yummy and virtually no fat.

After eating out for 5 weeks it was just nice to eat in front of the TV.

Hi Jim, long time follower but don’t post a lot. Last time we were in Amsterdam, stayed in the museum district and walked to The Pantry-“home cooking” traditional Dutch food. It was excellent!

  5. Celebrity Air has  an “in-transit emergency “ number. Ask for it when booking with them. I’ve used it in 2018 when I flight was late and we would have missed our flight. I asked them to put me in another flight with another airline, and they did. The airline was only willing to put me on a flight the next day.

Using the standard rules, with a non-refundable deposit, you can move to a non-refundable deposit on a different cruise but need to pay a $100 pp penalty fee.

But with  the COVID-19 situation, Celebrity will allow you to cancel before FP (was initially for cruises departing prior to end of July, but think it's now prior to end of August) and receive a Future Cruise Credit in the amount of your deposit, which you can then use on a future cruise. However, you cannot use the FCC to pay for the deposit on the new cruise - have to make a cash deposit.  Still better than paying the $100 pp penalty and you can use the FCC on either a refundable or non-refundable reservation.

Thank you. That sounds good. I will keep that in mind, and ask about it if I cancel before the cruise is cancelled. This sure has been a mess fore everyone.

    Thanks again!

That is odd. Is this the menu you had? How was it?

We had no printed menu at all. The dinner was great!! I had no idea the wines were extra. No one mentioned it, we were not asked, and it was billed for the wrong night, and we (nor another couple at the table) did not order it. Baffling. My guess is they changed how they charge, and did not tell anyone working on the ship.

I found this menu and it says at the bottom $60 PP for the wine. Not sure if yours was the Daniel Boulud Chef's Table or if they are changing the regular Chef's Tables to have the wine in addition to the cost.

We did not receive a printed menu - thus no warning or mention of an additional charge - it was just poured. We actually wondered why no printed menu.

Hello Maree, hope we get to meet you on the cruise! (FYI, we are boarding Saturday, not Friday, lol! You must really have priority boarding!)

We just arrived in Shanghai after a fantastic tour in Xian.

We are spending three days post cruise at Disney Sea, having snagged two nights at Miracosta - so excited!

Looking forward to following along here as we sail together on the Millie!

    sippican,

i don't want to hijack the OP's original post, but we are signed up for this cruise next March and would like to make it up to Xi'an pre-cruise. Would you mind telling me about your experience doing that? You can email me at wbeesley at aol dot com.

    thanks,

  10. Fabulous news! Jay from the change request department of Choice Air called me and he has fixed the entire flight and we now actually get home 2 hours earlier than originally scheduled. He made it all seem very simple so I don’t understand why they didn’t turn to him sooner. It sure would have saved me a lot of stress. No extra charges either. Why the other 3 people could not do this, I don’t understand. I spoke with the first customer service rep, then his supervisor, then the supervisor’s supervisor and none could help. But once Jay got the reservation he fixed it easily!

    Thanks for all your suggestions!

I think the people that fix those kind of problems (resolution dept) are not in the same department that man the phones.

  11. You will not be charged any more when they fix this. I think it’s called a “disconnect” and any changes made to resolve it will not incur additional charges by either Choice or the airline. Choice could even put you on a different carrier. I agree with the previous post, look at flight schedules and let Choice know what you want to do. Request they make a note in your file do their resolution desk has that information. Google flights is a good resource for airline schedules.

  12. And....if you are changing planes on a itinerary booked by Choice Air, take their emergency number with you. We had a delayed flight and they bailed me out and got me rebooked on another flight in no time.

  13. Actually, if a travel agency books your flight, I believe they are the only one that can change it, not Delta. Had a similar thing happen earlier this year with an American flight needing to be changed due to a Qantas flight time change. I now needed an earlier American flight, but had to go thru Choice Air (per the American Airlines rep). Choice Air told me the same-they would cancel all the flights and start over, and it would take up to 72 hours. I had a problem with that because I would lose my seat assignments and we were less than a month from the flight. In the end, they just moved the one flight and left everything else untouched, but it was a stressful 48 hours!

  14. The "roughness" at the places that Wavelength stops for snorkeling depend on the wind. If it's a windy day, then you will have more waves on the Reef. Also, the 3rd stop generally tends to be "rougher" because they take you to a spot on the edge of the Outer Reef. But, having said that, Wavelength has multiple possible moorings, so they will take you to the best moorings considering that day's weather and water conditions.

Because of its popularity, you will want to pre-book your trip with Wavelength. But a couple days before you arrive, you can contact them to see what the prediction for wind is going to be on the day that you booked. If it's going to be a windy day, they will re-book you to a calmer day IF they have available space.

    GradUT,

We got back last month from our trip to Australia/NZ, and your recommendations were spot on. Loved Port Douglas, loved the Meridian, and Wavelength was wonderful, as well as Tony’s. Thank you for the time you take to help other travelers out!! We cannot wait to go back!
